RR,

Except geno's message with the subject 'another attempt,' I'm unable to read any other posts made in Tamil. And I'm unable to post in Tamil too.

Most of us here are laymen - who do not have that much of idea about this code, conversion stuff. So please help us by giving a step by step detail instruction with regard to reading and writing in Tamil here.

Thanks :)

You cannot be worse layman than me. :)

1. Open your Murasu editor and key in your text in Tamil
2. Copy text
3. At the message post here, click on font face and choose TCSu Inaimathi (delete the rest)
4. Insert (paste) your text between the brackets and submit

Voila! Your post is now in legible Tamil!

RR,

Is it a must to have Murasu Editor? I only have the TSC fonts and I use e-kalappai to type in Tamil. It was very easy and simple posting and reading Tamil in forumhub but here it seems a bit cumbersome :(. Please help.

1. Can I read the Tamil posts with TSC - AvarangaL fonts? or Do I have to install the fonts specified above in the instruction?

Now you can. I have improved the support now. Use the new method [ tscii ] [ / tscii ]. See the first post again for details.

But you'll still have problem viewing posts having, font = TSCInaimathi.
This usage will be discouraged from now on.

2. Can I type 'directly' in Tamil in the response box using e-kalappai or do I have to have any other tools?

You mean directly typing instead of copy & paste? I think it's possible, but not that easy to do. I'll do later. For now, use copy & paste.

Red glasses pottukkondu green-il paarkka mudiyumaa endru kettaal eppadi? :)

Re your conversion query, our database encoding will be mostly TSCII, so that's what Google will see. If you want to search Hub, for now use topic search. Post-level search is on the way.

hahahahha!!!

I asked about that coz most people are lazy to change encoding to "UTF-8" to be able to read the unicode posts!! :)

And thanx for post-level search info!!

That wud be sooo cool! :D

You tscii post is just fine!!

May be u have a problem with ur view-encoding in browser??

just check if ur => view-encoding-'user-defined' is properly configured in the browser settings.

The encoding is set to User Define but I'm unable to read. I only can read the previous post you have made in Tamil.

But every time I refresh or move back or forward I have to set the encoding to 'user define' as it keeps switiching onto some other encoding every time.

geno

Riya,

Please check out this link - from the Old hub :

http://www.forumhub.com/poems/1526.02.43.05.html

An go thru all the links that r given there.

You need a thamizh script editor software calld "e-kalappai" to write in thamizh - which would automatically install a font called "TSC_AvarangaL" font in ur system.

If u need more details and help - post here and lots of friends are here who wud love to give u some inputs :)

Generally e-kalappai comes with TSC_avarangal keyboard driver. But when I google with tamil unicode keyboard, I bumped into a site that I dont recollect now, from where I d/led the kmx s/w for e-kalappai. Now I am able to directly type unicode through e-kalappai instead of using unicode editors.

Roshan, There is a new e-kalappai version ( i guess its an evaluation version 2.0) - which is available for downoad. It comes bundled with unicode keymap - apart from the usual TSCII keymap.

You can download, install & configure it to - create BOTH TSCII format text AND also the Unicode format text.

For further details - like web link for that new version of e-kalappai - see here :

http://forumhub.lunarpages.com/hub/viewtopic.php?t=109 :)

Any doubts post there and i'd try and dig info. :)

vengayam,

Please try out what cygnus has suggested in the above post - and then too if it doesnt work out - try downloading & using "e-kalappai" and use it to type and post thamizh posts.

I vaguely remember that RR said something about 'Inaimathi' font not working properly here in the new hub!

That is "TSCu_Inaimathi" works fine but not "TSCInaimathi"!!

..any way it would be better if you opt for 'e-kalappai'. :)
