Maiden Voyage

-Querida

Finally it is time for me to leave…
To continue what was meant to be done.
Entering in through a world
Known through only idyllic reminscents
Of a nostalgic soul.

I come with full heart
Brimming with all that has been fed to me since small:
Morsals of memory seeped through milk
And relived through my shining eyes
Questioned and re-dreamed again.
For sake of story-telling.
To watch upon one who loves me
And see an untold happiness
(That does not even come
When told “I love you ma.”)

I knew it was this time.
I knew from all the keening.
The sudden desire.
Disappearing from many a sunny dream…
From the inability to say once more.
Not this time, maybe next.
The tears that slipped when asked as if the last.
The determination that streaked the reluctant answer.
The clouded-over wish seeping through silent smiles.
The heart that soared even with maybe echoing upon hopeful lips...
