Waiting

- Sridevi

I walked for hours
Stood inside long prison bars
I was praying to get more blessings
And to kill the time.
The god will take away my ill fortunes
And bring fresh airs
Smelling of honey and jasmine
Heal my wounded heart and ego
Remove the thorns of poverty from my body.

After ages I saw Him
For a fraction of a minute
The strong security pushed me away
Into the corners of the world.

I saw a few white clothes
Along with diamonds
Casually sauntering
Inside the god’s house
Chitchatting with confidence.
Their faces did not show signs of standing.
Special tickets.
Thousands of rupees.
The god needs money for maintenance.
The security bowed.
The new caste system.

This land has a peculiar nature.
It manages to create such systems.
Stamping corruption
As the sins of previous birth.
You are poor, low
Because of your past.
Not because of my selfishness.
You can’t see god that easily.
Democracy’s secularism.

Any way these holy places
Were meant only for a few.
How to control modern equality?
Create new divisions.

Genius race finding solutions
To any problem under the sky.
