Good songs.. but the usage of off-the-shelf loops is surprisingly more in this film. Almost in every song! surprised that even Raaja went the usual way, in such magnitude!

the pre-1987 IR title score for "Enakkul Oruvan" - fond memories from this 1984 film - it was around this time, many theatres in chennai had installed bass boosters and subwoofers which highlighted the basslines of IR's scores even in the BGMs!

apart from the tinny sounding MSV era/style strings usage at the beginning, one can hear some very acoustic drumming and brass usage!

IR ran riot with the title scores for movies like this and 'Kakki chattai', 'athisaya piravi' etc

it was post 'nayagan' that IR mellowed down and his title scores became more streamlined and nuanced!

Irir - the inflexion point in terms of streamlining bgm for me is Mani's previous film - Mouna Ragam.

Could not snap out of the magical music this evening......

    காதல் ஓவியம் பாடும் காவியம்.......அலைகள் ஓய்வதில்லை....இளையராஜா's bass
    guitar counterpoint to chorus ஆலாப் ,வீணா, flowing வயோலின், ஸ்லோகா & church bells .
3 decades + early இளையராஜா's masterpiece rules the world !

Plum, Listening to adi aatha now. Thanks Wow! wonderful rhythm and bass guitars for a kuthu song and what a melody for a kuthu song. I love Raja's voice during 70's.

Mahendra Singh and Peacock - Vilayaata Padagotti is good - Surprisingly, Hariharan version is better than kuzhandhai's. Hariharanai srongA kadivALam pottu pAda vechurukkAr and it suits the song perfectly.
Peacock - Thukkamenna as observed by everyone is a nice throwback to the Ramarajan times - IR Tamil Folk v2.0 as app would call it. That is all the take away. (Maybe I am also becoming a Modern Trend Mahadevan )
