iLamanathu pala kaNavu from Selvi - http://www.thiraipaadal.com/tpplayer...8'&lang=en

This has been the song on my lips (konjam kashtam dhaan, irundhaalum) for the past few days. Apart from the bass guitar, the Raaja flute esp. in the prelude (best enjoyed with closed eyes, forming your own imagery - can be quite difficult if you have seen the video though) is stunning.

"NenjukkuL poo manjangaL nee itta nEram" from "SAttai illAdha bambaram" - borne out of Raja's most innovative phase. What impress me are the trumpets on a roll, fancy guitar , Janaki and the groovy beats, all depicting a kind of nonchalance and foot-loose ness. The flute tid bits is the fringe benefit.

Vairamuthu might have cursed Raja under his breath for this googly of a sandham, more so for Raja himself coming up with opening line with his fav nenjam manjam kottAvi invoking edhugai monai, while gleefully welcoming SG's nursery rhyming rendu kannam chandhana kinnam, pournami neram pAvai oruthi

Awesome song.. wonder how many such gems are lost from limelight !!! One of the few things I observed with rhythm instruments is IR's use of ratchets/Guiros .. I did not even know what they were called. Googled for rhythm instruments and found the right sample and instrument name.
    See - http://www.compositiontoday.com/soun...sion/guiro.asp
Other instruments that I noticed are the headless tambourine/traditional cabassa (beads).

    Anbu Mugam Thantha Sugam...

IR, sweetly rhyming, sweeping interludes with viola perhaps?
