Hmm....... if you are comparing just the length then perhaps the analogy may be valid. That far but not much further.

A suththu party who has his way in 20-20 will get found out in Test cricket. OTOH the degree of skill and effort required to write a haunting short poem is often several times more than the demands made on a novelist who has some more elbow room. His challenges challenges are phenomenal too - that's another story.

Nice imagery but am unable to enjoy the analogy. The marks in the now-dry stream reflect a past. The love poems do not necessarily seem to connect to a past.

But more important than all this is the fact that I am asking such silly logical questions. It is because I have not been swept off my feet by the poem. When that happens, there are just no questions to ask
