Actor A.V.M.Rajan told in 1973 Bommai magazine….

“when hindi Doraha was remade in Tamil as ‘Aval’, I did the roll of Chatrukan Sinha in Tamil. During shooting time director ACT told about ‘cigarette sundividum style’ should be same as what CS did in hindi film. I promised him that I will do better than him, because I have a reference before. After the shot everyone admired me for that particular action. Then I revealed the secret that I have copied the same ‘cigarette sundividum style’ from Shivaji sir from Amara Deepam and practiced well”.
