Why Ponting is not in the same class as Tendulkar, or even Dravid
A few days back, in a heated moment, I said Ponting can be compared to Dravid, Kallis etc. I take back the Dravid part.

:ukki:
Ponting' s away average is 48.44, read it again. 48.44.
You are shit, Ricky, and you know it.

puLi, enna ipdi sollittInga. Durby is a blot on the Cricketing landscape. All well-meaning Cricketing citizens *MUST* hate him. It is a badge of honour. I mean, dont you hate Durby? .

Well of course, I yam problem largely with attitude l'harbhajan.
As a bowler I don't as strong misgivings. except that he is a borderline chucker.

Feeyaar, it is not what he is capable of. It is what he gives on field as a bowler - which has been crap for years. Definitely in tests.

In my view he has got himself spoiled by bowling in limited overs cricket and doesn't respect test match cricket anymore. He has learnt(???) to bowl flat and fast (yorkers too). In 10 overs he gives 30-40 runs picking up the odd wicket, in 4 overs he concedes 25 runs for no wickets. Everybody would praise him as an economical/unhittable bowler in the slam-bang format and he is very happy with that role. Once you ask him to go for wickets, even in a limited overs game he doesn't feel comfortable.

Ofcourse, the resentment here is on behalf of the naiver, sincere bowler types. This man has figured how to play the system. Develop the batting skills. Fire fast and flat and keep healthy figures on paper. Just when people are after you, one or the other of these skills pay off and he sails on that for another few months. I'd say he underperforms most of the time. Even when he is seemingly clueless, a switch-on mentally of his skills will result in better output. I feel that he just is not bothered to switch on.
My resentment here is that *this is exactly what I would like to do in my profession* but have never figured out how to.

Plum,
Do you remember the article I posted after the end of Kolkatta test? The one which talked about his over the top celebrations after he took the last wicket. I didn't bookmark the blog and have been searching it ever since.
