I think you are mistaken RR. I attended a concert where he sang a few Tamil compositions. If I remember correctly he used a Tamil composition for RTP. He even composed a song in Tamil for concerts. We should be careful before passing judgments!

good one, but I like it when TMK does something different. IMHO, this one was quite standard fare for his caliber. There's another concert where he sings Gowla with swara's - wonderful! Semmangudi influence is unmistakeable.
Artist: Sudha ragunathan
Theme: Shyamalanum Shanbanum (see first clip - intro - for more)
Some popular and some not-so-popular songs, with 'ranganatham anisham' (gambeera naattai) as the longest one. As always, Q&A after every piece is very interesting.
This is a classic by "Chembai and Yesudas". In this concert, we get a rare chance to know the Guru-Sishya sambandha of these two great vocalists, wherein, Chembai is actually teaching Yesudas and Yesudas tries very hard to follow his Guru.
Never argue with a fool or he will drag you down to his level and beat you at it through sheer experience!
Yesuddas has actually repeated the last few kalpanaswarams from chembai's.....very good rendition.......my favourite ragam and one of my favourite songs.....happened to sing it in one of my concerts in brahma gana sabha this season...thanks NOV.....
will try NOV....just that i've recorded the concert only in an audio cassette...need to somehow get it into youtube.....
Btw i am still learning music.....need to somehow make it big in the next couple of years.....
