Nothing from Thaman, NOV?

haha... HJ. Sunil you might be plucking your hair now.

YSR had a great escape with MPMK. Otherwise a dull year. Thanks to Vasanth what a sensible and lovely filmmaker he is!!

The biggest surprise is D. Imman a mighty comeback from Myna while I am completely overwhelmed by their combo's folk-ish 'Kumki', MKP & Sattai also have pretty good songs. This is certainly his year!! Hope he gets due recognition and doesn't get lost in giants wave.

A small review+comment on a Tamil film song:

Hearty congratulations to Bombay Jayashri on getting Oscar nomination for a Tamil song, "Pi's Lullaby", from "Life of Pi". I would love to see her win it.:notworthy:
This is what it is to take Indian music to the world..rather than becoming wannabes/sounding Western/un-Indian to draw others attention.:notthatway:

My Telugu speaking colleague liked this song "instantly" when he watched the movie last month and told me about it the next day at work..not knowing it was a Tamil song sung by Bombay Jayashri. Very glad this is for a Tamil lullaby, which sounds like one, able to retain the originality..without losing it's nativity. ;-)
Thereafter, he has played it multiple times at work during late evenings ;)

 and indebted to Director Ang Lee and Music Composer Michael Danna for their understanding and conviction in making it sound the way it does, without losing out on the regional lullaby flavour/Indianness in it.
Should be taken as a good (implicit) lesson for our Directors and MDs ;) After all, it is never easy to even think to begin and end an English/international movie with a lullaby in an Indian regional language (over 3 mins). Reminds me of Bala and IR's Naan Kadavul starting with a Hindi bhajan (Maa Ganga - over 3 mins) and ending with a Sanskrit devotional (Om Shivoham - over 6 mins):notworthy:

A lesson to remember. :)
