Any long timer in hub knows my favourites. Of course I like Rajni but no more a hard core fan per se. I do watch all his movies in the first three days mainly for the euphoria and the entertainment quotient.

Some times I dont get to the level of others in bashing because there is always a conscious effort to post in such a way that it doesnt hurt people known personally to me. It may give others an impression that I try to be a holy cow or எல்லோருக்கும் நல்லவன். Because we live in a world where we love celebrities more than people around us. :)

Thats what contradiction is all about. When you yourself say a film collects 80% of the revenue by its 10 days of run, why should it even manage a houseful show after 50 days? You are comparing a film that has just released with another one which was released 50 days ago and flex your muscles. Good!!

One last advice as a friend. I, a Vijay fan, would never do the mistake of comparing him with the actors from the next gen. That will show only Vijay in bad light. Dont do the same to Rajni.

Just the similarities that caught my attention between Lingaa and Kaththi. Nothing more and not a comparison between the two films. This actually does not come to mind while watching the film and Lingaa reminds more of Muthu. Wanted to post this yesterday in the Lingaa thread but feared starting off a debate for no reason. The year started with two hits - Veeram and Jilla and then followed Rajni's son in law's VIP, which almost became the BB of the year until Kaththi released. But those fans in the video only took the last one for calibration. Kumaran may be angry about it. But I am very happy annachi. I actually dint expect that I would see this day.

In the recent times, Vijay seems to have shed his born identity of being a reserve while speaking at a public gathering. A 4 day old movie has revived this thread. The way some Rajini fans argue makes me seriously doubt if the gap is indeed much closer between him and the guy they try to ridicule by calling Dr,Joseph,etc. No smoke without fire.

The genuine Rajni fans who were here sometime ago never even worried about the next gen actors. Ive been in hub for 9 years now and there used to be Rajni fans like Nerd,MGB,etc who were quite knowledgeable. Now they are not active and only Avadi 2 America is left I guess.

But the crowd they have now!! I wonder if they even know about Rajni. And do they even have the basic common sense that my opinion or yours is not going to affect the movie's BO? If the film is genuinely a hit, tomorrow's successes will be compared with this one like how they do now with Enthiran or Sivaji. If the film bombs, distributors will be behind Rajni for compensation as he has got them used to that habit. Everything will be there for everyone to see. Plain simple!!! Why hold each others' kudumies, god only knows!!!

Mr AB your attention is required to go back and revisit Lingaa thread Page 73 to 79. The same Naansense happened during Kaththi and you GUYS were so reluctant to receive criticism. You only get what you give, Ungulukku vandha blood other's kku vandha Thakalli chutney. Best is to stay away and let them enjoy their star's movie, They unlike us have the privilege after four years.

Whose review on Kaththi was not received well here? Many Ajith fans posted their reviews too. Not in this thread but the previous one. Siv.S even used a line which said Vijay has to avoid 'transgender like action' in comedy scenes. Nobody took that in the wrong sense. It was his view and we respected that. Tat is maturity. Imagine me using a similar phrase in the Lingaa thread now. They will show me the door, call me wolf,hen,etc

Same Siv.S, in spite of watching Lingaa on the opening day, is yet to post his review there. Probably he has seen the brickbats we are getting for posting our honest reviews. :)

Ilayathalapathy Vijay is known to enjoy a very strong base in the UK, among the overseas markets and this year, his two releases Kaththi and Jilla occupy the first two spots in terms of overall reported gross, with 333,522 pounds and 243,029 pounds, respectively.

Superstar Rajini's Lingaa opened this past weekend and the opening weekend gross is reported to be in the range of 171,068 pounds (1.69 crores). Trade analysts in the UK feel that it would be quite a task for Lingaa to breach Kaththi's mark and end up as 2014's highest. Will it happen? Let's wait and watch.

AR Murugadoss has had a great year with his films in both Hindi and Tamil – Holiday and Kaththirespectively raking some serious moolah at the box office. Illayathalapathy Vijay starrer Diwali treat, Kaththi, is a double role saga which focuses on burning issues of farmers committing suicide due to corporate encroachment.
What’s it about:It tells the tale of two look alikes – Kaththi and Jeeva. While Kaththi is a petty thief, Jeeva is a social reformer who is fighting for the plight of poor farmers against big corporate agencies. In a series of events, Kaththi finds himself in Jeeva’s shoes, whereas Jeeva is locked up in prison due to a case of mistaken identities. While Kaththi finds his conscience and decides to help the farmers, Jeeva escapes from prison tries to find his doppelganger. How does the duo bring justice to the farmers forms the rest of the story.
Why it should be remade:Lets not have any doubts in mind. Kaththi is a commercially viable film with a lot of scope of heroics. But still it conveys a very important message and as intriguing twists which only Murugadoss can employ. If films like Vikramakudu, which is a full on masala potboiler, can be remade as Rowdy Rathore, I think Vijay’s Kaththi deserves a fair chance to be remade in Hindi.

சர்ச்சைக்கு சமாதிகட்டி 100 நாள்களை தொட்ட கத்தி - Webulagam

சென்ற வருடம் அதிக சர்ச்சைக்கு ஆளான படம் கத்தி. கத்தியை தயாரித்த சுபாஷ்கரண் இலங்கை அதிபர் ராஜபக்சேயின் நெருங்கிய நட்பு வட்டத்தை சேர்ந்தவர், ராஜபக்சயின் உறவினர்களுடன் தொழில் கூட்டணி வைத்திருக்கிறார் என்றுகூறி அறுபதுக்கும் மேற்பட்ட அமைப்புகள், அரசியல் கட்சிகள் இணைந்து கத்திக்கு எதிர்ப்பு தெரிவித்தன.

படத்தை வெளியிட்டால் போராட்டம் நடத்துவோம் என்று மிரட்டல் விடுக்கப்பட்ட நிலையில் கத்தியின் தொலைக்காட்சி ஒளிபரப்பு உரிமையை ஜெயா வாங்கியது. அதன் பிறகு போராட்டத்தின் வேகம் தணிந்தாலும், சென்னை சத்யம் திரையரங்கில் சிலர் பெட்ரோல் குண்டு வீசியது பரபரப்புக்குள்ளானது.

இந்த சர்ச்சைகளே படத்துக்கு நல்ல விளம்பரத்தை தேடித்தர, விஜய்யின் முந்தையப் படங்களுக்கு இல்லாத ஓபனிங் கத்திக்கு கிடைத்தது. விஜய்யின் சினிமா வாழ்க்கையில் கத்திதான் அதிக வசூல் செய்த படம் என்கிறார்கள்.

இன்று கத்தியின் 100 -வது நாள். சென்னையில் 3 திரையரங்குகளில் கத்தி 100 நாளை கடந்துள்ளது. இன்றைய சூழலில் இதனை சாதனை என்றே சொல்ல வேண்டும்.

Totally agree with all you've said ..not to forget the hurdles the movie had to cross prior to release. It made the success even more sweeter. This quality of Vijay to stand by his director and producer in tough times is what sets him apart from his competitors. Thanks to ARM for a good subject...which had scope to perform and also use Vijay's mass appeal. As usual, Vijay continues to silently march miles ahead despite some biased detractors always trying to pull him down.

Andhra is his Achilles heel, unfortunately.

A lot of Telugu stars admire him, but he got struck with his remaking a little too long and was slow to react to changing market dynamics. Surya on the other hand was fortunate to work with solid makers during that transition time, which expanded his base in Andhra.

But with interesting projects in hand, let's hope, he cracks this one last code :)
