1 glass of warm water during and after meals helps digestion easier

yeah...but I find it very hard to drink 'warm' water...:(

well tough , you have to do it :lol2:

Some tips

1) drink 1 glass of water before meal, this will make you eat less...

2) Never wait till you are really hungry, eat every 2 to 3 hrs some light meals

3) Increase protein intake reduce carbs

4) do some streacthing after food (10 minutes after you have eaten) this increases blood circulation , which enables better metabolism

room temp water venna kudippen... not warm water... :x

4th tip is new to me... will try it...:)

Today Mom had to attend a seemandham, so I Prepared BF n lunch for myself n dad :noteeth:

Prepared the following for dad:

Vengaaya vendhaya kuzhambu
Beans paruppu thengaai dry curry

For Me:
Methi Roti
Mixed Veg subz...

BF: 1/2 carrot and had SS vengaaya kozhambu rice (had 1 g warm water, thx PS for giving this tip :P )

Note: :oops: naan senja kozhambu epdi irukkunu paakka saaptuten :sigh2: nallaa thaan irundhudhu :lol2:

Lunch: Methi rotis with subz, another 1/2 carrot, 1 g water melon juice

Eve: 1 Apple

Dinner: should be bread or something light with some fruits :D

AVERAGE ADULT FEMALE CONSUMPTION OF CALORIES<=2000

AVERAGE ADULT MALE CONSUMPTION OF CALORIES <=2500

10 CALORIE = 1G OF FAT

Now, If you think , it is simple 'Logicaly' :lol2:

Eg: Say you eat 1,500 in a day, which means you did not consume the rest of the 500 calories, and you burn 500 calories a day doing physical activities (sport/cardio/weights) you have virtually got rid of 1000 calories in a day (now don't jump up and down thinking u got rid of 100 g fat, it does not work like that) The first thing you loose after execrise is water along with salt , water + salt in your bodys is called sweat!... You only start to loose fat say after 16 mins of non stop excersie, cos the first 16 minutes you just lost the water & salt in your body.

Simple thing is

Eat less than 2000 calories a day and burn 500 calories a day by physical activities..this way you can loos upo to 2.5 lbs to 5 ilbs in a month

Yeah hv checked the BMI, and it says slightly over weight, 5 - 6 kgs above which should not be the case for my height :| My height 177 cm :D Weight adutha maasam sollavaa :shhh:...

Tips for the day

1) Almond nuts soaked over night and eaten in the morning is good for skin and brain

2) Almond oil is good for skin

3) 10gs of peanuts, hazelnuts and cashew nuts should be eaten daily to provide fatty oils to maintain healthy joints, skin and nails

More than 10g of nuts and you are asking for trouble... :lol2:

In UK they have soya nuts, it does not taste that great but it is very high in protein, fibre and soya also reduces cholestrol!

very lively thread. not able to join u people during day time. anyway i will read all the messages.

PM's information is 100% correct. MS and dev follow that.

i cannot follow very strict diet. but i am not overeating, sos is controlled in our house. Physical activity is there. stopped Gym for past 10 days. didn't gain weight.

gym at home is running behing 2 boys. everyday walk is there for almost 11/2 hours.

PS, thanks for the tips...:) my homeopath says peanuts with vellam/karumbu sakkarai helps increase good cholesterol... but ofcourse u have to limit it to a spoonful a day... or mmaybe on small piece of kadalai mittai a day...:)

Thiru, I wish I can maintain a healthy diet for a lifetime... but andha wish niraiverumanu theriyalai...:noteeth: my biggest weakness is sweets... adhai cut pannninale podhum...other than tht my diet is quite healthy... Pregnancy podhu food intake & sweets jaasthi aachu... i used to eat somemthing like 4-5 sweets a day... adhuvum jilebi, gulab jamun, rasgulla irundhitta sollave vendaam...GJ ellamm minimmum 10 saapiduven per day...:lol: & this habit was continuing until a month back...I actually became a sweet addict ... Only now I've taken control of the situation...& am really happy tht I've cut down sweet intake by so much... ippo it's like 1 sweet a week...Now the biggest challenge to see to it tht I don't become a sweet addict again... :P

Yesterday's Neeyaa Naanaa program was on the food. An expert was saying certain things on the food we take.

Two popular wrong assumptions i would like to bring from what he has said.

1. Honey with hot water or so reduces weight -- Absolutely not. Honey is good for health is a different thing.
2. Rice food has more calories than wheat. -- There is not much of a difference. In fact wheat dosa would have more calories than rice dosa. Only advantage of using wheat is that, as Tamils we might not eat more quantity when we use wheat.

Not sure whether this was mentioned here before.

Pregnancy podhu food intake & sweets jaasthi aachu... i used to eat somemthing like 4-5 sweets a day... adhuvum jilebi, gulab jamun, rasgulla irundhitta sollave vendaam...GJ ellamm minimmum 10 saapiduven per day...:lol: & this habit was continuing until a month back...I actually became a sweet addict ... Thiru, I'm not sure abt the honey part... no experience with it so far...ayurveda, naturopathy docs kitta kaetaal they say it's true... but adhukaaga honey-aa kudichittu koodave bajji bondanu saapitaal weight kurayumangaradhu sandhegamm thaan...:lol:

but wheat & rice are almost same calorie-wise... but it's the fiber content & the nutrients in the wheat that makes it a better food than polished rice...

U r right...quantity matters... & it went out of control in my case... athoda sendhu I stopped evening walks after delivery...result- a pear me...;) even now, though I'm on diet, If I crave for something strongly(it's usually sweets :noteeth: ), I eat a small qty of it... if not, to overcome tht craving I eat this & tht...aanal craving stop aagadhu... so I end up eating more... so adhukku pesaama konjama junk-a saapitukiren...& tht way the craving also goes away...

ya, padichittu irukken... Thanks for the links Thiru...:) But I'm not really convinced... Glutten intolerence is predominent in western countries,US... lactose intolerence is very common among ppl of chinese origin... Now I hear Indian kids becoming lactose intolerent...esp those living abroad... but namakku adhu porundhumanu theriyalai... So as long as I am comfy eating wheat,I'll continue with it...:) one man's food can be another's poison... but it needn't be poison for everyone...

U r right...quantity matters... & it went out of control in my case... athoda sendhu I stopped evening walks after delivery...result- a pear me...;) even now, though I'm on diet, If I crave for something strongly(it's usually sweets :noteeth: ), I eat a small qty of it... if not, to overcome tht craving I eat this & tht...aanal craving stop aagadhu... so I end up eating more... so adhukku pesaama konjama junk-a saapitukiren...& tht way the craving also goes away...

Early morning tea...

Mid lunch --- few pieces of Watermelon

Lunch : Fish kuzhambu :tongueout: with carrot and paavarkaai.. rasam.. :lol2:

Evening -- Coffee..

before dinner around 7 pm vaazhathandu soup :boo:

Dinner --- Idly with again fish kuzhambu :poke: before sleep milk one glass :noteeth:

as far exercise 5 km walk with some stretches overall.. and avoiding lifts in office, moving from cubicle to cubicle at frequent interval (every 30 min) :mrgreen:

very lively thread. not able to join u people during day time. anyway i will read all the messages.

PM's information is 100% correct. MS and dev follow that.

i cannot follow very strict diet. but i am not overeating, sos is controlled in our house. Physical activity is there. stopped Gym for past 10 days. didn't gain weight.

gym at home is running behing 2 boys. everyday walk is there for almost 11/2 hours.

1) Do you know what whey protein is?

2) Increase your carbs intake more along with high protein.. Whey protein is better than soya / milk / egg protein

I took whey protein (powder) with milk every morning as a meal supplement, and I would weight train (no cardio) for about 90 minutes. I have gained quite lot of muscle mass!

what you need to do is do weight training.. And do not do prolonged cardio, do 5 minutes run, but really fast till you get your heart rate high

OK, to gain weight best option is weight training, go for heavier weights, but do less reps, this will bulk you up...

If I can bulk up muscle being a vegie, you would have greater advantage of bulking up as u eat meat :angry2: :P

Hi ka

Pls try and avoid panadol... and one for thing too much coffee gives you constipation which can also lead to head ache..

If you skip meals also you get headaches...

cbe hubbers meet today...:) so MM & lunch we ate out... MM @ fresh n naturals:thumbsup:, lunck @ peking...

BF: 1 g kammbu koozh with vadu mmangai uruga...

MM: corn & mushroom salad, peanut & nuts chaat...:slurp:

Lunch: 1/2 H n S soup,1 chicken lollipop :(, few pcs chilli fish, ss fried rice.

eve: tea

dinner: tomato carrot soup n bread.

I remember losing 1 to 1.5 kg in 'one week' VERY EASILY few years back :| (with right diet)

Age factor and ease in losing weight and inversely proportional :evil: :hammer: (probably also cause of few health issues I have)

Dev- Why don't u post the calorie content of so-called-sins like Bonda, bajji, pakoda, appalaam etc? And, Desserts too? :-)

Knowing their calorie content can help adjust the menu without exceeding the overall daily calorie intake limits. Or, indulgence on any day can be adjusted the next day with more fruits/vegetables instead of carbs.

Scorpio, it's very difficult to calculate the calorie content of cooked food. esp fried stuffs, u don't really know how much oil goes into it. sometimes it's oily, sometimes it's not. so, naan andha calculation ellamm try panninadhe illai.

U might want to chk this website for calories in diff food...both raw & cooked...

aana diet-a follow panna mudiyala, as I need to eat whatever is available in hotel :sigh2:
angallaaam roumba seekiram hotelaa close panniduraanga... naan pona neram (about 8:30 PM) idly order panninen, illanuttaaan, parotaa thaan irukkunuttaan :banghead: vera vazhi saapten, indha maadhiri thaan 2 days-um pochu :|

Devakottaila, weight check panninen, 0.5 kku kammiyaathaan reduce aayirukku :sigh2:

But anyways am happy :D yeraadha varaikkum sandhosham... :cool2:
