"Make Mumbai a Union Territory." "Give Mumbai Self rule".
This was widely heard during the Mumbai Flood. Only 1% of the money generated in Mumbai is spend in Mumbai the rest went to the black holes of Bihar, UP etc.
In all countries the Urban area economically support the rural area while the rural area feed (agriculture) the urban area. But I doubt if the contrast is so much especially knowing that inspite of all these spending our villages are not improving.
The same question rises in case of Bangalore VS Rest of Karnataka. To an extent that companies have stoped expansion plans in Bangalore and are looking to Chennai, Noida ad even jaipur.
