Azhagai Irukkirai Bayamai Irukkirathu - Job Well done
IndiaGlitz [Thursday, March 30, 2006]

Growing in stature is Yuvan Shankar Raja. This young music composer is the man of the moment in Tamil. In AIBI he does his reputation no harm.

Quite interestingly, in AIBI, he has tried different styles --- and entire gamut, actually, which sit well on the songs.

The album has five numbers and a couple of them are sure rockers as Yuvan has used his youthful verve and his natural feel for rhythms brilliantly.

Unlike his earlier albums, Yuvan seems to have taken earnest interest and sung four of the five himself.

In the company of a set of young singers accompanied by foot-tapping music, he has again proved why he is the sought-after today.

AIBI is being produced by Cheran and directed by cinematographer Vijay Milton.

The movie stars Bharath, Mallika Kapoor and Arun Kumar in the lead roles.

Kanavae (Yuvan Shankar Raja, Bhavadharani )

Yuvan in the company of his sister Bhavadharini has sung this soft number. More a pathos song, which dwells on the love lost, it has heavy beats. Yuvan Shankar has tried out a huskier voice. A song quite typical to Yuvan's earlier scores. Bhavadharini chips in with her best. The sister-brother combo is strangely subdued. The natural mixing is missing. But the song’s tune stands scrutiny.

Elaiudhir Kaalam (Bhavadharani, Boby, Reeta, Reshmi, Ranjith, Naveen )

Inspired by Broadway Opera style, Yuvan begins with a good chorus. Host of singers come together in natural profusion. Refreshing beats are the catchy aspects of this number. Yuvan has used the guitar and drums quite intelligently proving that as a music composer he has matured a lot and studied the pulse of his fans quite well.

Kaadhalai (Bharath, Devan, Premji, Ranjith, Suchireeta, Pushpavanam Kuppuswamy, Yuvan Shankar Raja, Paravai Muniyamma, Sujatha, Naveen )

Can you imagine a song featuring 10 singers? Yuvan seems to have taken a gamble in this song and it has paid off. Toeing a line between the rural and western music, Yuvan has brought together singers of different styles on one platform. Again a romantic song, the song stands out from others in the album for it has good orchestration. Trying out different instruments, he has brought out new sounds in this song, which can neither be classified a melody nor a cracker. All same, hummable!

Odivaa Kaadhalae (Karthik, Yuvan Shankar Raja )

A romantic number that begins very slowly gains momentum as it progresses. Giving more thrust on the lyrics, Yuvan has underplayed the instrumentation. Karthik in the company of Yuvan himself dazzles. Though certainly not in the league of songs composed by Yuvan earlier, it stands out for its good lyrics and peppy beats, especially towards the end. It is sure to catch the attention of youths. Even more sure to find a place in the dance floors.

Orampo Naina (Premji, Yuvan Shankar Raja )

The pick of the album. After the likes of Pettai Rap and O Podu, it's now Yuvan Shankar's turn to come out with a song that has shades of 'local rap'. And he leaves his identity by fusing it with a musical symphony. Use of violins, trumpets and drums besides a good chorus for typical 'Chennai lyrics' is sure to take the songs close to the listeners.

Job well done, Yuvan.[/tscii:c13811b8e1]

AIBI songs were composed after the songs were shot says Vijay Milton. That means the songs are coming in the film like background score?

very nice video clips.

I am liking cheran very much because he is the perfect hard worker and has the mind to help others.

According to the videos, the movie also will be different.

Let us welcome the experimentations.

Best of luck for the Cheran-milton-yuvan combo.

If AIBI comes out as a winner at BO among the four Tamil new year releases, that will be awesome!

Is that guess based on the 'Kaadhalai pirippadhu eppadi' track and its thematic similarities to 'Addicted to love'? I remember reading somewhere that there's a fantasy element in AIBI which goes against a simple story like ATL.

Watched AIBI, average movie. the first half belongs to romantic comedy genre and the second has so much sentiments and is dragging so much. In tamil, I don't think there is a huge market for this kind of genre. Vijay milton has tried so many fresh ideas that are new to tamil movies in the first half but the overload in the second half makes the movie look bad. Songs have come out well and the one-liners popping up in many places are enjoyable too.

songs suited the situations very well.
as judge said, it is an average movie.

Yes, Vasanth, the movie is average. I expected more. I did not like KNM also, but it had a decent run. so not sure of this movie at BO. Let us see how it is fairing.

I watched the movie. As said above, it is an average movie. But Vijay Milton has introduced many new matters to tamil film industry. I liked many many scenes but unfortunately i couldn't like the movie much. The movie looks like a commercial magazine like kumudam, Vikatan with jokes, fun news, series articles, short stories, etc. But as a movie it fails to impress.

Songs and BGM are very well and songs suited well. I enjoyed with all the songs Elaiyuthir kaalam, Oorampoo, Kathalai, Kanave and Oodiava kathalae.

Twist irukka vendiyathuthan, athukkaga ippadiyaaaa?

I couldn't stand this movie esp. the overacting by the mother character. So far this movie has been rated as BIG FLOP.

A treasure of a title like AIBI should atleast have an iota of interesting story line. But it looks like the same "aracha maavu" youth love (yaw........n) story. BOO!!!
But it seems Yuvan's music alone has that modern feel . Appidiyaa?

i liked the movie except the ending....but i guess it was inevitable I simply loved the songs and choreography...i do have a small question...in the song Kadhalae what is their operation called? It sounds like Disco...is it discord???

I suppose it is Operation Tiscon...

Querida
1st August 2006, 11:54 PM
how come? Is there any reason why that should make sense...he tries to explain it but I don't get it...any further insight? Maybe it's discon...shortened from discon-nected...cause the plan is to try separating the couple.

Im defenitely sure that it is not Discon, but when you look in the song they display the word...im sure it starts with a letter ' T '....
