Marudhaani - Enna oru song. Yabba..... sema fresh ba.... thala humming in that song is simply superb. Yaaro sonnanga, thala oru song kooda padala nu. i think that humming is enough....

Taxi Taxi - peppy and youthful.... require some more time to gel to that song......

am out of words to describe the songs now...
hunting for a word which is more grandeur than awesome...
something like Rahman++

my liking order is:
1. eley
2. taxi
3. chinnamma
4. miss u da
5. nan eppodhu
6. marudhaani

yes marudhaani.... the maestro should have made her to sing more clearly.... atleast like vaaji vaaji....

woooowwwwwww..... The album is at its peak now.... "Taxi Taxi" has topped my list now,..what a song, im waiting to see this on the big screen,,, Except for "Chinnama" (the lyrics spoils this song, they should've sticked to the telugu lyrics for the starting) all the other songs are rocking big time... "NAn epothu" sounds really nice in tamil too, should say that it suits perfectly, the lyrics are surprisingly complementing the tune considering the fact that this is re-used.... "Yele" has some super cool lyrics to go with the song..... "I miss u" is amazing stuff ( have started to love this song after repeated hearings).... HAve to say its really hard to pick the best of this album... The slow poison has worked again...

After strict warnings, he has gone ahead and posted the same 128 kbps songs in tamiltorrents. and the people there have downloaded that version encoded it to 320 kbps and uploaded it back! very very dissapointed! this will be the last time i trust new comers. I will only share things with a select few people (you know who). so sorry newcomers. one person has spoiled my trust in u all!

Taxi Taxi is interestingly oasi Taxi with a friendly loom. 'awesome' taxi she murmur :D Roobaroo's followup 'Elay' with rousing solo violin is the highlight of the album. Miss u da is a terrific juggler work on vocals, sound and orchestration. Vaali's 'Marudhani' misguidedly applied on Vizhiyil will make several scream. Hope the Chorus and beautiful flow wont turn them blind. Meenaxi's classics Chinnamma & Yeh Rishta reworks are outrageously redundant. Unfortunately with this or just 1 tamil album released this year for ARR - Sakkarakatti is strictly not diabetic-free.

Few pointers:
Taxi Taxi - IInd Interlude , Blaaze rap, Benny dayal, Cheering hook - Say "balle balle" say "holle holle" 'Ooh La Ooh La - female vocals French lyrics and many.......
Marudhani - Sax Prelude & Piano Interlude, 2 diff male voices for humming.
Miss u da - Prelude rocks
Elay - Solo Violin throughout the song, pallavi sounds very familiar
- mosa mosannu valarnthu vittom , karadiya?

To me, Taxi Taxi is the pick of album, after many hearings, :D it's one of the best energetics songs from ARR ...amazing interludes, good use of rap bits of blazze which give a real western feel , (sometimes I think blazze's rap bit is pointless in some arr's songs, but it's needed here) good rendition from Viviane with pretty french lyrics. :) and NAMUTHUKUMAR pens as usually simple lyrics which suit the tune. :o

[tscii:165f1c69b1]name : Sakkarakatti
Release date : 11.7.08
Music Director : ARRahman
Number of Tracks : 6

Male harmony

Benny Dayal, Blaaze, ,Javed Ali, A R Rahman, Henry, Krish and Naresh Iyer

Female harmony

Chinmayi, Madhushree, Viviane Chaix and Indai Haza

The long awaited soundtrack of the movie Sakkarakatti has hit the stores yesterday. Rahman has scored half a dozen bright and colorful songs for this ‘Shanthanu’ starrer.

1. Taxi Taxi*****
Singers: Benny Dayal, Blaaze, Viviane Chaix and Javed Ali
Lyrics: Blaaze, Na Muthukumar, Viviane Chaix
Basically a friendship song like Mustafa, full of Blaaze’s Rap interludes, Vivian’s ooh laas and french chants. The rhythm of this song is pretty ordinary but the vocals and other additions take it to the next level. This song gives us the feel of a ‘Bollywood’ number. Lyrics bringout this ‘ipod’ age’s friends and their relationships with a bit of slapstick humour. Pals dont miss this!

2. Marudhani****
Singers: Madhushree, A R Rahman, Henry
Lyrics : Vaali
Probably a heroine solo melody, with soft beats and chorus. Pleasant interludes and Rahman’s hummings complete this soft but quick number. This is the only song which contains ARR’s voice in this album. Dynamic Vaali’s lyrics are spoiled by Madhushree’s poor Tamil accent. So a kind request to Madhushree:’Please find a good tamil teacher before commiting your next Tamil song’.

3. I Miss You Da*****
Singers: Chinmayi, Indai Haza
Lyrics : Na Muthukumar
Another solo female song in which ARR has experimented with converting different ordinary sounds into one sweet melody. Appears to be a fusion of pop music and dubstep genre. Chinmayi’s versatile voice realises ARR’s dream. Also the song progresses with ‘Adhiradikkaran’ kind of beats now and then. The chorus and beats are avant-garde. May demand a lot of listening before you love it. Muthukumar’s lyrics are very ordinary and fails to impress. The feel produced by this song is similar to the effect produced by ‘Maja Maja’(SOK) and ‘Kettena’(Desam). A song for the world!

4.Chinnamma****
Singers: Benny Dayal, Chinmayi
Lyrics : Pa Vijay
A Tamil version of the song ‘Chinnamma Chilakkamma’ from Rahman’s soundtrack for the Hindi movie Meenaxi(2004). Though a repetitive seranade from ARR, not disappointing. Benny sings very similar to Sukhwinder, the singer of the original Chinnamma. But Benny beats Sukhwinder with his proper Tamil pronounciation. We could hear Sukhwinder’s humming at the end point of this song!. Benny’s adaptable voice eeks out his best at the high pitch areas. Chinmayi in this song sounds very different from ‘I miss you da’. Both the singers have given their maximum effort in this song. Pa Vijay’s lyrics have perfectly fit this Andhra folk song. The song begins like an old Telugu song played in a old philips radio. Fantastic! One of ARR’s best folk numbers. The Andhra feel reminds us ‘Errani Kurrani’(Kadhalan) song. With the usage of folk instruments and a few western equipment Rahman has challenged the kuthu song world!

5.Elay*****
Singers: Krish ,Naresh Iyer
Lyrics : Na Muthukumar
Seems to be the ’soul’ song of this movie. Full of guitar sounds, violin pieces and quick beats. Though the music is of the Rock genre, the lyrics and violin gives us ‘at home’ feeling. A positive and pleasant song which bridges east and west. Though a number of instruments are used, nothing goes haywire. Wonderful orchestration and coordination by ARR. In this song Muthukumar gains what he lost in ‘I Miss you da’ song. The song ends by providing us a jazz feel. Krish and Naresh sing exactly with the feel of south Indian boys. At times this song reminds us ‘Roobaaroo’(Rang De Basanti). But the utilisation of other instruments makes this song different.

6.Naan Epodhu****
Singers: Reena Bharadwaj
Lyrics : Pa Vijay
Another reiteration from Meenaxi. The Same singer is called back. A wonderful North Indian style song, with a lovely tune and guitar interludes. Beautiful addition of effects at right times. Right choice of voice. Totally an awesome song. But, this awesome song is stained by the awkward pronounciation(Pen or pin??!!) of the singer. This is the third female solo song of this album and the shortest one. Pa Vijay’s romantic lyrics along with excellent instrumentation doesn’t fail to create the intended swooning effect. A sweet song!

Very very minute changes. Chinnamma Chilakkamma is a male solo in Meenaxi (not counting female harmony), but here it is a duet.

Originals are far better, IMO.

SS,

Lyrics for these reused songs is a big turn off for me. Doesn't sound good too. I've got used to ignore the lyrics. But still, these tracks couldn't match the originals.

Apart from Uyire & Jodi to some extent, I prefer to listen Hindi originals only.

there are also some effects added in the reuse. I am loving the dubbed songs now.

again i stress the reason why we have a hard time with these dubbed songs is because the hindi lyrics still ghost around in our heads and so we hear two things at the same time. real (tamil) and virtual (hindi). this is true for me. but if i listen to the tamil version many many times, i eventually forget the hindi sound and enjoy it a lot more. neways the album is a masterpiece. 10/10

Here is the clarification for Toss the feathers (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toss_The_Feathers)

Toss the Feathers is a traditional Irish folk tune, typically played with a tin whistle and fiddle. It has existed in several variations, each in a different key, the two more common being D and E minor. More recently the music has been adapted in over 200 modern compilations, including both traditional versions by groups such as The Chieftains, and rock renditions such as those by The Corrs.

Taxi Taxi- Cool song about youthful friendship. I love the creative use of the bhangra "brrrrraaaa" sample. Reminds me of his use of the "aaha" sound in Rang De Basanti.

Marudhani- Another beautiful melodious song with techno orchestrations from ARR. Except for Madhushree's diction this is a great song.

Eley- Breezy, Roobaroo-esque track. Silly but fun lyrics.

I Miss You Da- Experimental beats and mood. I love it. Great singing by Chinmayi.

I don't think the two Meenaxi tracks quite work in Tamil. They aren't terrible, but I wish they were originals. Overall a very good album. Makes up for ATM!

they are talking if they know more than rahman himself. they r even advising him LOL. mark my words, the same behindwoods is gonna put marudhaani or some other track on first position in countdown for months.

they are also calling him a technical wizard. technician is someone who knows how to operate the technological stuff. rahman is not just an operator! stupid person!

[tscii:c9015e7e74]As sweet as Sakkarakati

When debutant director Kalaa Prabhu approached music composer AR Rahman to compose music for Sakkarakatti, the latter was sceptical.

¡°I¡¯m busy with other projects,¡± he said and added, ¡°I¡¯m not sure if I¡¯ll be able to do full justice to it.¡± Kalaa Prabhu handed him a note with six Hindi songs and just asked Rahman to ¡°Tamilise¡± them.

¡°That would be cheating my listeners,¡± said Rahman, and after listening to the script thoroughly, gave Kalaa some beautiful tunes.

The high-profile audio release of Sakkarakatti, held recently at a city multiplex, was well-attended by celebrities of the film fraternity.

Veteran directors like K Balachander and SP Muthuraman wished the debutant director, who is producer Kalaipuli Thanu¡¯s son, the best of luck for the film. Sakkarakati also also marks the debut of Shanthnoo Bhagyaraj, son of renowned film personality Bhagyaraj.

Director Bharathiraja had the audience in splits when he said that he would make Rahman act in his next film. Realising that some members of the audience were laughing, he said, ¡°It¡¯s difficult to get tunes from him, but I will surely make him act in a movie soon!¡±

[tscii:3eb2e68265]I guez this album wud create history..

A best album given by Rahman after Boys..

A fabulous stuff.. watt songs.. nearly 500 times I have listened all songs are good..

1."Eley" Waata classy composition. . I felt its a better version than "roobaroo"RDB which has more of an Irish Jazz touch..I feel this bcz Roobaroo has a simple scale transition.. The harmonica and violin are said to be perfectly rendered.. The acoustic guitar scale transition in the "Eley" when it is repeated seems to be an outta world progression. . No tamil or hindhi song has such a transition, I find a mixture of Jazz &Blues genres.. The lyrics seems to very suitable for the tune it carries away anybody to 500 yrs from now..

2."Marudani" This song is gonna be the song of the year.. The melody, the tune and freshness it has in it can beat any track. The loop seems to be very unique and new. The important point is that the tracks tune overlooks the orchestration. . The first Piano interlude starting of with a major transition just flows in ur mind straight away and the middle parah's highlight seems to be our Rahmanji's humm it comes in fades away within phew secs.. the song's lyrics is said to be very colorful based on the tradition of a gurl and her love..

3."Naan Epothu" This song would capture anybody in the first listen.. Watta tune man it kills anybody with its feel.. The best part is that the remade lyrics suits well in tamil.. I feel this song seems to be different in tamil .. The lyrics and feel made me cry.. I simply love it..

4."Chinnama" This song seems to be a pure south Indian composition. . It makes anybody to dance.. A next "Chayya Chayya" in the making.. The voice of Benny seems to be better than that of Sukhwinder and Chinmaye I doubt whether it was her voice bcz it was totally different from "I miss u da" this shows her versitalty. This song wud be a mass hitt.. The lyrics and tune seems to be even more better in tamil..

5. "Taxi Taxi" This song a pure youth anthem on the cards.. The track has an international ffeel..It has spanish & french lyrics..The backgrounds pads and bass seems to be the best part of the song..

The song has French lyrics..

il faut que je me depeche parce qu'on m'attend au chennai
il faut que j'aille prendre le taxi ¨¤ Paris
It means "it is necessary that I myself depeche because one awaits me to the chennai i must will take the taxi to Paris"

Another main part is the lyrics on friendship..

6. "I miss u da"

The song tune is of 50's but the song's beat and orchestration seems to be trance and a bit of arabic in the interludes.. The song is like a dream .. nobody could imagine an orchestration this way..

tamil ppl.. will know more regarding this sorta compositions. .I guezz Well bcz .. These kinda songs where given by MS.Viswanathan in the past 1950's, tracks like "Maalai Pozhundhin Mayakam" which is considered to be a super hit in the 50's which is too of the same kinda genre. I feel he is trying out new style of compositions like bringing out old 50's music touch with a new unique kinda orchestration. . Well!! tracks like "Mayail Iragae","thigu thigu","Munbae Va", "Inisaai", "Thazhuvadhu" , "Maja Maja" will all come under this catogory.. The track "thottal poo malarum" new was too a track of M.S.Viswanathan re-tuned version of Rahman..

Tamil ppl like these kinda songs bcz the old type feel is still considered to be evergreen.. And since it has been softwares dominating the period of time.. Well, Rahmanji is trying something to look back, i.e to look back to old music which is said to be lost..

I feel this could be a trend change.. Soon there would be a demand for these kinda songs..

Whenever i listen to this i find something new.. It grows on one slowly...

-Normally I wud not get completely satisfied.. with an ARR album.. but this album seems to be something above, it seems to be more than expectations. . This album would surely be noticed for many more years to come.. Sure that its gonna create a history.. Rahmanji has done his best ever..

Lets hope the best & pray for the Director to equalize the expectations & standards something creative in his videos.. Bcz the video would play an important role to make the songs familiar among ppl..

[tscii:cd1e7a8ad6]Sakkarakkatti is worth a listen

Pavithra Srinivasan

July 15, 2008 12:41 IST

"A musical treat from A R Rahman!" shouts out the message that comes with the Tamil movie Sakkarakkatti (Lump of Sugar), produced by Kalaippuli S Thaanu, and starring debutant Santhanu, the offspring of talented director K Bhagyaraj.

The story revolves around five friends who grow up together -- and then, at the right time, love blooms between the hero and heroine. What will win the final round: friendship or love? That's the question this movie (hopefully) seeks to answer.

In the meantime, the makers promise a feast of music for this romantic film. So let's see if the soundtracks deliver the promise.

Taxi ...Taxi... rendered by Benny Dayal, Blaaze, Viviane, and Javed Ali starts off with a Hindi hip-hop tune and a thumping beat that lets the singers extol the virtues of friendship. Apparently, as per the lyrics of Na Muthukumar, Blaaze and Viviane, a good friend is a lot like a taxi in your hour of need. With a bout of synthesised music interspersed with Viviane singing in some unknown language (French?) combined with weird sounds that make you giggle, the song proceeds at the same steady pace, but the tune makes you sway lazily, and when it ends, with a regulation mixture of rap, English verses and sounds, you're quite caught up in it.

Marudaani ...begins with a 80-esque music with Madhushree's melodious humming. This one is a lot like Rahman's previous romantic numbers, harking right back to the Pudhiya Mugam times, with piano music mingling with the tunes, and Vaali, with his extensive experience in romantic songs has fallen back on it. Henry and Rahman have produced a continuation of the humming from the first few moments, while Madhusri takes up from where she left off, ending with the sound of anklets jingling away. On the whole, a ho-hum number.

I Miss you Da...is up next. With what you can only assume is either the a) the name of the hero, b) an equally weird nickname -- both of which sound bizarre, this one kick-starts with Chinmayee's husky voice as she whispers romantic-nothings, penned by Na Muthukumar, about (presumably) her beloved. Indai Haza's strong voice echoes with the Miss You refrain as Chinmayee branches off into apparently unconnected phrases eulogising love. By the time she segues back into the first line, you sort of get used to it. You wish you were able to make more sense of the lyrics, though -- they're mince-meat, as it is. Still this one stands the best chance of becoming a youthful stand-by.

After all those synthesised blasts and strange languages, Chinnamma ...starts off refreshingly with a folklore-flute music piece, intermingling with a rousing beat. Benny Dayal's voice begins confidently in a rural tune, while Chinmayee, in a different manner from her previous number, takes on a deeper tone. Pa Vijay's lyrics bring out the folk flavour, while the chorus sounds sweeter than the lead singers at times. The flute interlude reminds of the ancient Sivaji-starrer Pazhani's song. In the second half, though, the song is a bit perplexing -- as though the music-director couldn't decide between turning it into a completely folksy song, and leaving traces of trendy modern stuff in.

Following this piece we have Elay. This combined effort of singers Krish and Naresh Iyer starts off with a striking guitar piece that reminds you of the title piece of McKenna's Gold and traces of Rang de Basanti [Images] -- but it loses none of its charm for all that. Na Muthukumar's lyrics are an exercise in a feel-good song about winning the world, in Thirunelveli slang. Violins provide an excellent background; the next few segments only reinforce the Wild West theme even more, as a harmonica adds its snappy tunes to the mix. There's a brief hint of 40's Broadway music that transports you for a few moments into Hollywood's past -- and then it's back to the guitar, snazzy violins and the harmonica. This piece is easily the star of the whole album; it's dance-worthy, magical, and brings a whiff of the Rahman of yore.

Naan Eppodhu sung by Reena Bharadwaj begins softly with a distinct North Indian flavour. Guitars accompany her voice with a serene beat. A little later, the rhythm changes to a softer, conversational piece, after which it segues back to music. Pa Vijay's lyrics seem to suggest a coming-of-age song, where the heroine probably has fallen head over heels in love. It's melodious -- but oft-heard.

Weighing it on your auditory scales, barring the romantic songs, the rest seem to be an interesting mixture of tunes; some strange, some familiar. The final verdict? Vintage Rahman peeps in only once or twice -- still, it's worth listening.

[tscii:443d3a3bcc]Sakkarakatti – Spectacular visuals
http://www.indiaglitz.com/channels/tamil/article/39999.html

A noteworthy point worth mentioning is that 'Sakkarakatti' starring Santhanoo has song sequences that have tremendous visuals developed by Ocher Studios in Chennai owned by Soundarya Rajinikanth.

The song 'Chinnama' shows the hero fighting Egyptian Mummies as he walks through a deep mountain valley. This song reportedly jells with the attitude of the protagonist. There are other sequences that depict fireballs being bombarded onto a meadow. All the 'graphics' part have come out in a spectacular manner making the entire unit of 'Sakkarakatti' very happy. Two songs were screened at the recently held audio launch function. A. R. Rahman's music is indeed the highlight of the film and all the songs have come good.

There are also reports that suggest certain sets that have been erected resembling the 'Van Helsing' effect. Another special effect includes a twister in all its angry might.

A. R. Rahman and Ocher Studios might just be the right foil for some spectacular entertainment.[/tscii:443d3a3bcc]

guys when we heard taxi taxi promos, many people here were saying the beat is popular. thanks to an anti-arr in yfg who showed a song with the same beat, many new things came to the surface. taxi taxi belongs to a genre called Reggaeton. And in order for a song to be classified as this genre, it must have that beat, thats the reason why the beat is so popular and many of us had that heard before feeling.

more on Reggaeton: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reggaeton
a popular song in that genre: http://youtube.com/watch?v=WD81Clgmr90
http://youtube.com/watch?v=62cnG_Al9qY

if u noticed in the above two songs, the beat is the same with different instruments to produce that beat. ARR has done the same, the beat is the same but he has added the Rahman instruments to make the beats. I LOVE TAXI TAXI!

I hate the attitude of some of the members at ARRYG. Every time someone says copied or lifted, they become frantic and violent, literally trying to tear the person apart. And most of them become deaf when someone accuses ARR of plagiarism but the same ears become amplified when the opposite happens. These people post like they want to threaten and silence the accuser so that he won't talk about this to a 3rd person.

Most of these 'faniacs' just want to impress ARR since they know there is a possibility of him becoming aware of their posts through Vijay Iyer.

But there are some good souls too, like the explainer in thineshan's post. They take their own time and explain to the accuser, the reason for the similarity. That is the attitude these so called faniacs should have.

Maddy, ARR did not say anything of that sort. It is blown out of proportion (as usual) by the media.

According to a guy (from orkut) who attended the function -

"Adapavingala...

Rahman is A great faan of Yuvan ah....

i WENT TO THAT AUDIO LAUNCH PA...aVARU iPADI ONNU SOLLAVAE ILLA....aVARU ITHA THAAN SONNARU..Udanae yerangi poitaaru????

Also rahman was tapping his foot to Nimirnthu Nil Opening music..tat was the best part of the function...it looked awesome..."

So, let us not take these things seriously as most of these news are not credible.

My order of the songs:

Marudhani
Taxi Taxi
I miss u da - (The emenee chant is too good, esp towards the end when it goes from left to right and the other way round)
Elay
Chinnama - (I've started to like this song better. Have to say Chinamayee has saved this song)
Nan epothu

Did u guys notice in Chinnama song, ARR has used the original voice of sukhwinder when it finishes with "Shara ra ra.."

actually in Chinnama Tamil version, ARR left many parts blank which in the Hindi version has some filing done by Sukhwinder and the Chinnama Telugu chant.... thats the only thing i didint like in the Tamil version, those blank portions... other than that...Its a pattaiye kelapuran song.... :D :D

Really, chinnamma song is too good.... First listen itself anyone will like it. I have no complaints for this song other than it was taken from hindi. Hindi la also namma thala thaan meesic potaaru. adhuku mela enna venum? And LM pointed out initially that the lyrics are not good in chinnamma.... Kutti_Anand,

I felt the lyrics didn't gel with the tune at all and were plain silly. I'm still trying to figure out what does this line "Kaadhal kanave uyir vaasam" mean :?

Vairamuthu is badly missed in this album, IMO.

i listened to meenakshi only in 2006... i wish i hadnt, i wouldve definitely loved this. but must say, yesterday when i played all the songs on my 5.1 system, this song stood out and caught the attention of my brother and parents. my uncle who visited my house (as he often does) for tea asked for the cd after listening to the song and so i had to give him my copy. sakarakatti is a TREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My take on Sakkarakatti after listening non-stop for 3 days.

Taxi Taxi and Marudhani are two rocking numbers. Elay is good. Even Chinnamma sounds interesting (partly due to the fact that I can understand the lyrics now). I miss you da is very weird and undergoes changes in pattern, virtually every note. In my opinion (strictly) the flow that is normally associated with ARR's songs is missing in I miss you da. Naan epoudhu is not as good as Yeh Rishta, thanks to unsynch lyrics. Overall not my favorite recent work from ARR.

On a side note, I bought new set of speakers and the very next day I got Sakkarakatti CD. My early one line review of Taxi Taxi song was based on the output given by my old speaker. But this new set is simply awesome. The thumping beats in Taxi Taxi just got better. You can hear even the smallest bit of detail in pristine quality; bits like car horns, taxi starting sound etc...I just love these speakers and the song.

o i c... damn all this time i thot arr was avoiding VM whenever he can! VM for those dubbed songs would have done a FANTASTIC JOB!!! its in his blood to write for those kinda songs!

Yeah..Who can ever forget uyire, taalam, jodi and a few songs in guru[/quote]

i really admire vaali too because he gives importance to the sound of his lyrics which makes the music sound really fantastic even to someone who doesnt understand the language. vairamuthu does this too but not as much as vaali and vairamuthus meanings are ofcourse top class!

take chikku bukku or mukala mukabla (eventho those words dont have a real meaning, the sound makes the tune sound fantastic. i can never imagine these songs with any other words anywhere!)

VM and vaali are the ultimate combo in an ARR album!

Sakkarakatti is certainly a fantastic album. I bought the CD yesterday and am enjoying the songs continuously. After a long time, vintage (read:the nineties) ARR is back. I loved all the songs, with Taxi Taxi being the pick of the lot. Marudhani is awesome with ARR's voice in the middle very arresting. Can's get enough of this man's voice, he he. Eley is super stuff. I miss you miss you da is very captivating. Not more to add for the other two older numbers from Hindi except that they are splendid. As I had imagined, this year (42 years old ----> 4+2=6, ARR's birth number) is going great for the man. The bad news is that the next ARR Tamil album is ages later.

MarudAni was stupendous

I miss u da ... was really soft n touching .... with chin n a whispering voice .... soothing - but i dont understand how this song would gel for a setting that gonna be in New York say 250 years from now ... dnt see the connection !!!!

ennathAn tunes nallA irunthaalum... Vairamuthu-ARR combinatin'il irukkum magic is definitely missing :(
The entire album would have been an 'alva' for VM. ChummA pugunthu viLaiyaadiyiruppAr.

RombavE juvenile'a irukku lines ellAm.

Chinnamma lyrics are passable. Even vaali had failed badly.

I couldnt resist thinking of those golden days of ARR-VM, when I was listening to the songs. Adhu oru azhagiya nilA kaalam :( I sincerely hope for an ARR-VM combo in MY at least.

PS: ATM songs ellAm ethirpArthaLavu appeal AgaathathaRku lyrics oru kaaraNam. Even in Sivaji - VM was the ultimate winner.

Deadly combo...Out of 5 national awards, only one was with IR..The rest was with ARR..
Roja(1992)
Karuthamma(1994)
Sangamam(1999)
Kannathil Muthamittal(2002)

I seriously feel Kandukondain kandukondain should have been in the list as well..Anyway, he still reserves his best for ARR :) Thank god they patched up when there was a rift between them..

KandukoNdEn,Mudhalvan or Minsara Kanavu should have been there. But Minsara Kanavu won awards for the best female and male singers (SPB and Chitra) and KandukondEn for the best male singer (Shankar Mahadevan).

I am still not sure about the rift between both. They worked for Sivaji together and I hope the duo continue working together and bring back those golden days to us.

Im not happy with the ratings... :x :o

they are talking if they know more than rahman himself. they r even advising him LOL. mark my words, the same behindwoods is gonna put marudhaani or some other track on first position in countdown for months.

they are also calling him a technical wizard. technician is someone who knows how to operate the technological stuff. rahman is not just an operator! stupid person!

do i know the media or what???

Whoaaaaaaaaaaa ...
Ellaa Puzhalum Iraivanuke!!! (Rahmanuke as well!!)

How many days I have waited for this ...to see rahman back to form ... Lyrics taking centerstage ...tunes woven around them... still enchanting to listen... well done rahman... marudani .. elay... taxi taxi... will be remembered for a long time to come in tfm..... Miss u da.. didnt cut it for me... well he experimented only with this song.. I dont know how it will catch up .. I am as suspiscious as "Thaluvuthu" song from "Ah Ahh".. I dont think even the tamil audience or prepared this time around as well...

Coming to the major grouse... I have to concur with dinesh on this one... why would a director demand reusage of tunes (which btw wont even fit the bill of quality or accpetability in tfm) when Rahman is in full flow... shame on the director.(asuming what i read from teh magazine that the director insisted on these songs). I dont care if he "visualized" these songs prior to filming.. This is sheer stupidity on the directors part... If i really knew how to code up a hate mail across the world I would defintiely do it.. I dont care if the songs were equally popular in other languages...
After delivering 3 stunning songs.. couldnt he have changed his mind?? If he was in such a flow he could have delivered much more than these reused songs... you SHOULD have put your foot down Rahman... All said and done.. i hope the movie clicks for the other songs to click ....(i seriously started to doubt tif this is a hero introduction movie or what since there are almost 3 female solos!!)

There are lots of comments even by one helluva fan(atic) YSR fan.. I sincerely doubt... not with Subramaniyapuram and Pidichiruku in the mix... I really doubt any director this year would match Pidichiruku... I just wonder what would happen the talented MD of pidichirukku.. I have seen and heard soo many songs in my life.. never I heard something like "Yenge nee Povathoo".. the song is a novel attempt and it sounds equally sweet in each standalone languages.. kudos to that guy... song of the year is going to be between that song and "Kangal irandal" from Subramaniyapuram..

With ARR done for this year in tamil and YSR bad streak continuing ..(some YSR fans are loosing it I guess.. somebody int hat foruym called "Vel " songs underratted??!!!!) and "Saroja" getting comments from their own fans like "I am staisfied with the album"..."I think YSR has done a good job"... YSR has to really pull up it socks.. and yes for the guy who wrote in his blog about Dhaam Dhoom being mediocre... "Sakkiye " song alone from DD is enuf to wallop "Saroja"...

Well this is tfmpage... anything could happen (what Mozhi went thru last year) .. I was just venting out my choices.... enuf said... Totally kicked with Rahman back to being where he belongs... I would still hammer the director if i get to see him ..!!

You know most of the people except of ARR fans don't know these two reused songs in hindi. So it will be refreshing and new for them. And these two songs are really good. So don't worry.

a reallly really positive review! i dont think the reviewer knew that chinamma and naan epodhu r reused tunes (he said chinnama is inspired and didnt even mention nething about naan epodu). HE LOVED BOTH THE SONGS! which is really a very positive sign... people will defly love both these songs as much as we did meenakshi and ofcourse people are gonna love the other 4 songs. this album is nuff for this year.
