Anyone come across peculiar or strange dishes?...could be from any where in the world... :) but edible ofcourse !!

I heard scots eat the offals /insides of animals raw in brine....is it true? :mrgreen:

I came across "Thakaali Kesari" (Tomato Kesari) in one of those really boring Women Mags my mom reads, I think it was Mangayar Malar or something. :P

i think this is called "eesal " in tamil....i have seen some people eating fried eesal in tamilnadu too...those flying ants coming out during rainy season !!

in southeast asia , there is a dish called bird nest soup...it is indeed made from a birds nest
there is a kind of swallow/swift bird that binds its nest with its gummy saliva secretion...this is what they use to make the dish ...

The Japanese eat a special, poisonous (if not cleaned properly) Fish called the Puffer Fish, at the cost of their lives- Its said to be very expensive & tasty but if it is not cooked properly by an expert chef, the eater could die within minutes!

Yeah... the restaurants need to get a special license from the govt if they wish to serve puffer fish in their restaurant...
