I mae & eat Jeera Rice& Tomato rice on a regular basis. What are the other types of easy-to-make, simple, tasty Rice Varieties?

Basmati Rice 200 gmsJeera (Cumin seeds) 2 tbspCloves 5 pcsBlack Peppercorns 10 pcsCashew Nuts 50 gmsOil / Ghee (clarified butter) 1 tspSalt

Wash and soak rice for half an hour in a bowl.

In kadai/wok add oil/ghee and saut the cumin seeds, cloves and black peppercorns.

Cut the cashew nuts into halves and add in the kadai, add the rice, salt as per your taste and cook the rice with minimum of water.

Serve the rice with any Dal/Veg or Nov Veg Curry.

You can make palak rice...

1 bunch palak
3-4 gren chillies
jeera
mustard
urad
dry red chillies
oil
cashews
rice.. 1 cup

First cook the rice and alllow it to cool..
in mean time heat little oil n fry green chillies, palak(washed n chopped). once the palak leaves shrink , switch off and allow it to cool. and grind to a paste without adding water. add salt.

Heat oil in pan do seasoning with mustard, jeera, urad dry red chilli, cashew and add the paste n saute it for few mts and add rice n mix well...

quick n easy to do....

carrot rice, cabbage rice,capsicum rice, pulav using diff vegs, ghee rice etc etc... NOV says he makes good butter rice...but hasn't posted the recipe yet... :twisted:

Dev.. check it again.. usually NOV prepares BETTER rice .. not BUTTER ... :lol:

BUTTER RICE

4 cups basmati rice
250 gm butter
1 big onion sliced,
1 big tomato chopped
3 red chillies (strips)
daun pandan (gragrant grass)
ginger-garlic paste with cashews and almonds
cinamon and star anise

Wash rice, rinse, add a little bit of butter in a wok and fry the rice until fragrant. Put it into the rice cooker.

Put half the butter into a wok, once butter melts, add cinamon and star anise. Then add onion, tomato, chillies, daun pandan and ground paste one after another.

Fry until the oil separates from ingredients. Then add the remianing butter. Cook until butter melts.

Pour this into the rice cooker and add 6 cups of water. Add salt, stir and let it cook.

When half cooked, open rice cooker and mix it again.
When rice is cooked decorate with corainder leaves.

and no, I dont think so you can get it in india

Chennai-la kidaipathu kashtam... But athoda flavour silarukkupidikaathu... atleast enaku pidikaathu...

I have a recipe for Curry leaves rice which is really good.Its from Mrs Mallika Badrinath's book. I am not sure if i can reproduce the recipe here. Can u please confirm Dev?

I usually make mango rice.Its yummy and my hubby loves it.Not at all difficult.I follow the recipe in Bawarchi.com.

Alan, MB is Mrs Mallika Badrinath. She is a popular cook down south. She has many recipe books to her credit and one of the books is 100 kinds of mixed rice or something like that. I think u could get her books very easily.
Haven't tried all the recipes, but of the ones i tried, i liked the Curry Leaves rice a lot. Many of my friends like it a lot as i make it often esp for picnics.

Copyright laws grant the creator the exclusive right to reproduce, prepare derivative works, distribute, perform and display the work publicly. Exclusive means only the creator of such work, not anybody who has access to it and decides to grab it.

If you have any more doubts, please spend some time reading the copyright laws...
