Composition 1.

Composer: muthuswami dikshithar
Ragam: kamalaa manOhari

kunjara gamanae maNimaNdidha manjuLasaranae maamava siva
panjara suki pankajamuki guruguha ranjani dhuritha bhanjani niranjani

raakaa sasi vadhanae suradhanae rakshitha madhanae rathna sadhanae

EkaanEkaakshari bhuvanEswari Ekaanaamrutha kari bhaaswari
Ekaagra maNolaya kari sri kari EkaamrEsa gruhEswari sankari

There are only a few compositions in this raga. MS chose this and was the only one to sing it for a long time. In recent times others have picked it up.
You can see Dikshithar's stamp in the use of the word 'guruguha' and identifying the raga in the composition.

I have added meanings for some of the words in the context, as I remember from the source. It would help if the entire sentence is given, for Sanskrit words often differ in meaning depending on the context in which they appear. Hope this helps.

yasho dehi = bless me with Fame
kAmAmsha = This is actually Kamamscha, in the context of its appearance, meaning fulfil my desires
shriyam = prosperity
kali kalmaSa = evils due to Kali Yuga
pragjnAm..= Awareness
ashvamsha = horses and...(in the context of its appearnce, bless me with horses and other forms of wealth)
siddhim = success/ attainment

Wow, that is simply neat n amazing. It confused which lakshmi gives which and hence, could not sing without seeing the paper. Now, that the meaning is here elaborately, there will not be any problem in proceeding further.

Thanks a ton...

You are welcome, R :), although I personally don't like this type of songs. It is too big a shopping list to hand over to God! One feels there is no place for devotion here, only give me this and give me that! :(

Personally, dont feel in that way, Badri.. When comes to Goddess Lakshmi song, you can count with yr fingers(very few songs) unlike other Goddesses. Also, it is very nice to sing different chantings like this & many at my house as well as our friend's places after the pooja is done.

Finally, the way sulamangalam has sung in MIO site was simply great. Simply, forget the meaning and you will enjoy the chanting with her.

Meaning:
Oh Lord Svaminatha, please protect me without delay. You, the self-effulgent glorious Lord of Valli, oh Guruguha, the Lord of Devasena, please protect me.

He, Karttikeya, the one adored by Vishnu and Brahma, is held in high esteem by Narada and others. He is the distinguished son of Vamadeva and Parvati, and the beauty of his form fascinates even Cupid. His feet are capable of bestowing the desired boons on his devotees. He nurtures epics, dramas, and the Shastra of Alankara. He illumines the five elements, earth, water, fire, wind, and ether. He is of the form of knowledge, and can bestow eternal bliss on his devotees.
