FATE :

Fate is a fishy fellow,
with fickle fingers
not foolish fancies.
his wanton whims
wipe out wondrous joys
wasting them
with whiplashes of worries.

i liked how all your lines flow but your last line jars...it emphasizes the effect that fate has on happiness... :D i like alliterative poems...but i also seem to overdo it and therefore just overwhelm the readers..very poignant indeed

Querida : thnx. ya i admit its a bit pessimistic, but its a pointer for ppl who live thinking that life is gonna be a bed of roses - they ought to realize that there are also thorns to bear :).

YOU AND ME

(This is approximate translation of 'Mere Haath Mein' from FANAA)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1RZa1MbEKas

With my hands entwined in thine
Heaven itself is mine
If You are with Me, who cares for the world
I will destroy myself in your love
If my breath can find your heart's sanctuary
For your love, I will allow my life to destroy

As close as the fragrance of our breath
As close as the rhythm of lips
As together as sleepless memories
As together as our entwined arms
As close as the vision of dreams
So close you must remain oh lover

If you are with me, who cares for the world
I will destroy myself in your love
With my hands entwined in thine
Heaven itself is mine

This night let me cry, let my eyes run dry
Come into my arms, and get drenched in my tears
So that the flood in my heart, can burst forth in rivers
There is so much hurt, that it will drown your heart

As close as the heart's throbs
As close as the monsoon raindrops
As close as the moonlit skies
As close as the mascara of eyes
As close as the waves of the sea
So close you must remain to me

If you are with me, who cares for the world
I will destroy myself in your love
With my hands entwined in thine
Heaven itself is mine

Our breath was incomplete, our heartbeats were incomplete, so were we
But now the moon is at its zenith, and together are you and me

NOW

Rapid ravishes raced through his life
diseases, deaths, damsels & devils
eager to effect effervescent evils
Ad nauseum, ad infinitum
recurring whorls of this world
but God's gift of grace & guidance
shone on shambled & shackled shores
brightening life with living light
rescueing, repleneshing, rejenuvating
speaking soothing sounds
those pearls of wisdom
more than earls in a kingdom
will they only be seldom ?

EVOLUTION

There was a man called Darwin
a Naturalist from England
More clever than fiction's Mervin
the magician from game land

He set out on on an expedition
questioning mysteries of plants and animals
and discovered the Natural Selection
a process of struggles and survivals

Between hordes of Cretaceans
amongst herds of Mammals
and within myriad Crustaceans
the fittest of individuals

All descendents of common ancestors
effects of Divergence and Extinction
fighting against natural disasters
surviving with distinction

Winning battles of the intercrossing war
vanquishing other Genus
even Species were no bar
And it has come to thus

The fittest survived
and spread far and wide
Americans to the West
were labeled Caucasians
and Orientals in the East
as the fabled Asians

Life forms remain undiscovered
to the North at the Arctic
and is also rumoured
to the South at the Antarctic

To uncover these mysteries
and fill pages of history
Nature's bride has awaited
with eons of breath baited
for her man charming
the modern era's Darwin !

QUEST

My senses filled with the known
caring not for what was unseen
ages gone, some to atone

Travels and travails flew
yearning for the unknown grew
seeking the Infinity, one without Entity
not in structures and fixtures
nor in carvings and rituals

And then appeared, the Natural Path
heading a prayer
drawing the seeker
leading to the Quest,
of the self's only form
the Formless One

Drowned in me, heart's inner sea
and loosing myself, saw The Self
disappearing in the Light, yet more than alive
sensations absent, yet sensing everything
blind to everything, yet seeing the Vision
deaf to sounds, yet hearing the Primeval rhythm
dead to this world, but existing elsewhere

A surge of astral joy, soaring in unknown realms
few moments of oneness, with the One inside me
It, Me and Peace
nothingness and Bliss
And then with a thud, of vanishing Macrocosm
brought back to physical microcosm

myself again, yet a stranger to me
years spent in wanders
mistakes and flounders
wanderings and blunderings
ventures futile and habits entrenched
the pendulum back to materialism
the swinging wrenched

A spark again lit
by wayfaring light
probing the Path
reminding of the Quest

To merge into the One within
to seek the Inifinite, in my soul
loosening sheaths which foil
delve deeply again, shedding mortal coil
loosing the mundane existence,
and yet living eternally
in the Everlasting Light

When will I drown again
asleep to here and this
awakening to Original Bliss ?

(the poem describes my Spititual quest and a few experiences during Meditation)

'Macrocosm' - the entire world; the universe. It can also mean a system reflecting on a much larger scale one of its components or parts.

Designer,
You have a very good gift of penning your feelings.
But I feel that there is too much complexity involved where sometimes it becomes hard to catch the artery of the poem and its theme.
I would love to read your thematic poem running in simplicity.

A POEM, BTW

Woman, without her, man is a savage?
If so,
Woe man, without her, man is a savage!!
Or,
Woman, without her man, is a savage?
Then,
Who man, without her man, is a savage!!?

These are questions
asked in protest and exclamation
just for jesting
not in detest and confirmation

Fourth is only a question
not a quest
and
may not be just

But
dont beat me to dust
For IMHO
humour is a must
but
not too much of lust

For otherwise
when
troubles comes in gust
then
love starts to rust
and
life will go bust

The credit for the first three pondering questions, goes to NOV, who posted them @ Coffee Corner, Hubbers Lounge.

WELLSPRING

When love fades
poetry bades
fountain of words
an elixir to drink
helping forget
fury of its absence
alive and blazing
in living memories
cells of burning embers

Then came a dawn
a sight of thousand colors
a whiff of something
from unknown frontiers
a fragrance sailing in
across uncharted waters
A voice echoed
knocking the heart's doors

When morning blossomed
it became flowers
When night glowed
it became stars
Angst buried
joy regained
Rainbows repainted
atmosphere refreshed
a thirst quenched
filling, nay flooding
lonely & gloomy depths

A rebirth of feeling
a love that's reeling
this tossing and turning
an enjoyable onslaught
sparing none
neither boy nor adult
neither poet
nor literate
never loosening hold
nor does it abate

Wherever she flies
there go the eyes
wherever she goes
there the thought follows
Wherever she is
there lies my abode
I am the traveler
she is the road

The lips sing
silently her fame
in the heart's wellspring
is etched her name

THE WANDERER

There was a certain man
in India long ago
whose gait was strong
and the attitude bold
He could preach life like the preachers
full of esctasy and fire
and he had the kinda features
women would desire

And talking sweet as honey
he built a kingdom
of riches and money
making deals at random

All the world was a stage
for him to play and sing
for him to parry & rage
at times praise, and at times sting

But then came a woman
one so beautiful and fair
with lotsa hidden charms
with winsome ways & silky hair
that he fell into her arms
until she became queen
of the wheeler dealer
weilding power unseen
also was a kinda healer
who could rein him in

But then his lusting and drinking
and his hunger for power
set off fate bells tinkling
bringing doom closer & closer
Wealth and power vanished
away fled strength and fame
and he became starved & famished
for the love of his only dame
A change was wrought
for he became a Wanderer
destination unknown
forsight & will to nought
where the heart led
there he fled

Then a sign from within
showed the way
promising of something
behold, the future beckons
hopeful, bright & gay
Now did he reckon
forgetting the present & past
free from worries atlast
But unshackled fear
holding like chains
anchoring with pains
to the life he knew
denying new gains
withholding the nouveau
resisting, it maims

Still, the longing within
and the fury without
the despair of the living
and the faith of the devout
goads him onward
to let go and go forward
forsake attachments and bonds
far from the madding crowds
the noise, the turmoil & the throngs
loosening the binding shrouds
seeking for hurts, a balm
manna for the soul
new frontiers of calm
a new destination as goal
Renewed in strength & cured of thought
he must achieve without slumber
seek purity for the heart
and he's no more a Wanderer

the Wanderer & what happens to him is a fictitious story I had created, borrowing from historical characters like Attila the Hun (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Attila_the_Hun), Emperor Ashoka (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ashoka), Helen of Troy (http://www.english.uiuc.edu/maps/poets/g_l/hd/abouthelen.htm), etc. :)

Awargi!

நாடோடி.. Vs மன்னன்!!

Like the poetic pendulum you mentioned, our psychic pendulum also swings between being shackled and being scot-free!

Proton -electron
Matter - Anti-matter
Bing Bang - Black hole

Everything materialistic is paired with opposites..
So the spiritulaistic also be ...

கண்ணதாசனைக் கடன் வாங்கினால்...

பாதி மனதில் மன்னன் இருந்து ஆண்டுவந்தானாம்
மீதி மனதில் நாடோடியும் குடியிருந்தானாம்..

Thanks Designer for a soul searching venture..
