Which has many sounds.


The sound of silence
In a childless home
Is different from
A child sleeping
In a mother's lap.

The sound of silence
In a graveyard
Is different from
Empty labour room
In a hospital.

The sound of silence
Heard by a mute child
Is different from
The silence locked
In a teacher's stick.

The sound of silence
Just before the storm
Is different from
The deathly silence
That prevails after the storm.

Nichiro this reminds of one of the very first poems i wrote here....but i cannot say i thought of such comparisons...yes silence can be menacing or comforting...i have only found once the silence that exists between two people who can enjoy it between themselves.
