Best Hindi Actress 2007

So who will it be ????????

Aishwarya Rai, played theThe pipty percent partner in Guru. Who grew with her man. She ably portrayed a range of emotions and stages of life and thus is in serious contention for the Best Actress title.

Deepika Padukone and her fascinating dimple, made a dazzling Hindi debut in Om Shanti Om, making fans across the nation drool. The non-poetic members of the audience who were not floored by the dimple also managed to pass her on acting grounds. So here she is as a hot contender.

Kareena Kapoor's schizophrenic performance as Geet, powered Jab We Met. She played the hyperactive, unrealistically optimist who was madness personified. In the second half she played the role of a subdued girl hit hard by reality. She is quite a natural contender for the title this year.

The next nominee is Rani Mukherji played the lead in , Lagaa Chunaari Mein Daag , which was widely regarded as a couple of decades too late. While she has had better roles and performances on her resume, she enjoys the rare previlege of being among the select few in India who saw the film.

Vidya Balan played the Hindi version of Chandramukhi in Bhool Bulaiyya(which was preceeded by two versions in Malayalam and Kannada). So it may be quite a stretch to say the role or performance was unprecedented, it is quite novel in her career, which has largely consisted of somehow convincing the general public that she is a cut above the rest.

And the winner is........

Aishwarya Rai, one of the most recognisable faces in the entire world, received a whopping 47% of the votes, easily beating her nearest contenders of Kareena Kapoor and Rani Mukherji who each commanded 17%.

Congrats Mrs. Abishek!

Best Hindi Actor 2007

who is going to be this time :boo:

Aamir Khan (Taare Zameen Par)
Aamir plays temporary Art teacher. He played the role in just the right key, a sympathetic teacher who notices a problem but
doesn't want to force himself through the child's shell. A role perfectly done. Hot contender for the award.

Abhishek Bachan (Guru)
Abhishek Bachchan played the title role and was at his best. Bachchan forces himself under the skin of the character,
proves constantly credible. Will he be the winner this time ?

Akshay Kumar (Namaste London)
Akshay Kumar had many released this year with Namaste London making it to the Hub awards. Where does he stand in this competition?

Darsheel Safary (Taare Zameen Par)
Darsheel is superb in the role as a child suffering from dyslexia. One of the strong contender for the award. Wishing him a very
good future.

Shah Rukh Khan (Om Shanti Om,etc)
Sharukh the bollywood badshaah had a great year with Om shanti om and Chak De India. Both were big hits and with great performance.
Is the hub award for him

IMHO.............. indian film industry does't have good actresses........handful............. rani, kajol :? (if she acts), kamlini, and very few others :(

actresses should get like an admission test or sthing

Wibha,

Konkana Sen  Tabu  Even this year, Konkana was amazing in Metro, and her short part in LCMD! Tabu in Namesake, and Cheeni kum (where I found her more immersed in the role than Bachchan, because he had to shed his persona).

Even Kareena has performed good in Omkara (though a short role, the highlight - VB gets the mystic emotion in the end, that one line to Omkara is simply the most ambiguous, and obscure - Kareena pulled it off brilliantly), Dev (what a controlled performance, thankfully no overblown emotions), Yuva (Mani made it pure, I think it's the same with Trisha, he made them both look good, but not stupid like their other films), Chameli (I'm not a big fan of this film or the performance, but noteworthy mention with some good moments in terms of scope for the lead performance, thanks to Sudhir mishra), and of course Imtiaz Ali's JWM.

In general, good directors extract good performances from any actress. That's why Mani made Aishwarya act in Iruvar, Guru. Rajeev Menon in KK, Ghosh in Raincoat, Choker Bali. Though not nuanced like Tabu, she's still good enough IMHO.

Wibha
18th February 2008, 01:31 AM
thilak i agree that directors play a major role...............the thing is that these days they take any female, give her a chance and call her an actress :x........................ sri devi never needed a good director to show her acting skills..............kushboo,meena, simran,jo, juhi, rekha, revathi, madhuri, tabu, sushmita etc all these actresses have done even stupid movies but you can watch the movies just for them...........

yea Tabu is there but she is more into a character kinda movie....she can't do like a glamor role (not now) no matter what............. shreya has nothing except glamor and ppl have accepted her :x :banghead: same with many other actresses be it tamil or hindi or telugu or any other language. the actresses now are fit to just come like dolls and go.........................they have no acting skills or passion...............all they do is just for money...........its so freaking annoying to see them :x :banghead:

vidya balan lacks acting skills  soha ali khan is jsut okay :| tamil actresses forget them :| genelia is good just for a bubbly role.............

Shah Rukh Khan fans, if any in this Hub, failed to give him support and he has the disctintion of not even winning one vote! :lol2:

Akshay Kumar and Darsheel Safary both received 9% votes and made an early exit.

Which leaves us with the real contenders:

Aamir Khan

Abhishek Bachan

Now to the Best Music Director of 2007

Pritam's score for Jab We Met had a mix of melodious numbers and some very Punjabi punch. He is against some of the very best though.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali's films have always been known for music. Monty Sharma, who scored the background music for Black, did a commendable job in one of the year's most hyped releases: Saawariya.

The biggest hit of the year: Om Shanti Om, had the regular all-singing-all-dancing-ness that SRK is known for. Vishal Shekar's music deserves special mention for adding verve to the film which was all about fun, fun and some more fun.

Aamir Khan's directorial debut, Taare Zameen Par, was noted for what Aamir is known - baffling you with brilliance. The musical score by
Shakar-Ehsaan-Loy, was perhaps one of their finest since Dil Chahta Hai.

AR Rahman always reserves his best for Mani Ratnam. So it is no wonder that, even though the expectation were high, Guru topped the charts with an album of breathtaking variety.

And the Award goes to......

:notthatway: S-E-L was nominated *mainly* for their work in Johnny Gaddar. That IMO is their second finest soundtrack ever.

But I think Rahman will win :P

Saawariya had a sad-ending here too. Monty's score got 0 votes . No lovers of the score here? Vishal's OSO music had its SOS sounded with only 4% votes. Jab We Met polled some votes initially but met with stiff competition from the two biggies and had to exit with 12% votes for the third spot.

So then it was ARR (vs) Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy. Can ARR reign supremo? Or will the Davids topple the giant?

Best Hindi Film Results - Precursor

Hindi film hub awards were often one-sided where the winner was mostly obvious just after couple of days of polling. But this poll turned out to be an exception. The race got very close towards the end resulting in a tight finish.

Let's first see the losing horses. Ekalavya, Bhool Bulaiya, Cheeni Kum, Hey baby never started off finding no takers. Yes, all four got zero votes! Surprisingly, the superhit OSO also made a duck  Then it was Jab We Met which got a single digit 3% votes and quit the race. Ravely reviewed Johnny Gaddar was the next to go with 11% votes.

There were still three movies remaining -- neither of them showing any signs of giving up: Chak De, Guru, Taare Zameen Par. Is it going to be Shak Rukh Khan, or Abhishek.. or Aamir Khan.. whose movie will take the top spot?
