[tscii:e236f8b8af]Harris out of Ajith’s next
IndiaGlitz [Saturday, March 21, 2009]

Harris Jayaraj is no longer the music director of Ultimate Star Ajith’s next film, ‘Asal’.

The film is being produced by Sivaji Films and has Sameera Reddy playing Ajith’s love interest and Saran donning the director’s hat.

A project mired in controversies, Ajith’s flick for Sivaji Films was planned originally with Gautham Vasudev Menon as the director. Later, it was announced that Gautham will not direct the film.

People in the industry had even suspected that this was due to the fall out between Gautham and Harris, and Gautham wanted AR Rahman as the music director, while Ajith insisted on teaming up with Harris Jayaraj (they’ve never done a project together).

Let us wait and see which composer is going to take Harris Jayaraj’s place.

Probably - we should re-title this thread to 'copy cat HJ'. He is not qualified for a MD.

just see how many songs he has reused

http://videos.sify.com/watch/VetriThirumagan-trailer-jeivMBaebag.html

well, most of them are remakes so can be excused.
1) karu karu vizhigalaal - pkmc
2) uyalalao - dhaam dhoom (the funny thing is that the uyalalo is itself a remake from the telugu film. they have dubbed the telugu film and there you have a very funny sounding dubbed song in this movie  )

most obvious unauthorised lift is one line you can hear "saagum mattum naan piriyen" he has reused it in bheema famous song mudhal mazhai in the line "naan iranthaalume endrum iruppen"

to be continued..

u can see that oyyayyie song starting lines are similar to JTYJN - Kabhi Kabhi Aditi.. Also the vizhi moodi song has the same pace and some similar tune to that song from JTYJN

More interestingly, the theme promo of Ayan that was not released in the CD, sounds like Kaala Bandar from Delhi 6

 I think he is right there among the best when it comes to simple soft romantic songs. Unfortunately that is all that he seems to be able to compose.

Off the recent albums, VA was his most excellent (perhaps his best). Nenjukkul peidhidum's guitar lude is as good as anything composed outside IR-ARR sphere of excellence in TFM.

Seeing that he is a guitarist, it comes as no surprise that he tries show o_...I mean, put in some riffs here and there. Being a rock fan, I appreciate that. Other than that, he is either recycling himself recyling others or busy being "inspired". I don't even want to talk about the vocals...it's like any guys sounding more masculine than him can't sing for him or what? But its okay to get ladies to growl (undercurrent of dominatrix?)

Guys, so true HJ is a high tech version of Deva and SAR!
Look at the following video;
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K0nt2rAoAuk
That's exactly what HJ does. Copies out of other MD He has cleverly coaxed some of YSR songs too, just check youtube.

Everything and anything HJ does is a copy. ஹர்ர்ரிஸ் ஜெயராஜை காலுதை மெயில் வைத்து ஊர்வலம் போகணும் !!!

Look at the following Youtube video, so true and damn hilarious!

I agree with groucho070. Most of his tunes were recycled from one of the so called hits from his previous movie tunes. This guy lacks variety. I m sick of his music these days.

Heard that most of his hit numbers were tunes stolen from western music..one classic example is "Adiyee kolluthey" from Varanam 1000. its a straight lift from AC DC. another example is uyirn uyire song from KK is a copy of Hans Zimmer, album.

Why do people give awards to this guy!!!

[tscii:e72dbf70b9]Aadhavan’s audio launch
July 20, 2009

The Suriya-Nayanthara starrer, Aadhavan, had been progressing at a rapid pace so much so that the film is gearing up for the audio launch. If sources are to be believed, the audio will be released on August 15th at the Satyam Cineplex. The Suriya-Harris Jeyaraj combination had churned out some memorable hits in the past including Vaaranam Aayiram, Kakka Kakka, Ghajini and the latest hit Ayan.

Aadhavan is directed by KS Ravikumar and produced by Red Giant Movies. The film stars Anand Babu, Murali, Saroja Devi, Vadivelu, and Rahul Dev among others.

What's your problem, Movies? Your state of mind is so desoriented and confused, cus you are talking against yourself! So who is the looser, you or Harris jayaraj? Probably you, i guess.

First of all. If Harris Jayaraj's father was a film musician, then it's not Harris Jayaraj's decision. He can openly tell about his father as he wants to. I guess he has the freedom to speak honest about his family. Just like, Harris Jayaraj was born same month as Rahman, is that a "copy" too. Yaa, maybe Harris's mum should've waited untill February, i guess. But then your mum should've waited forever.

So, A.R.Rahman is the only one who can believe in god. Og my GOD. Ithe enna. I find your statement so childish. How old are you? 13?

I think you should, reconsider some things before posting them here. I accept the fact that Harris copy from other songs just as much as A.R.RAHMAN DID LONG BACK, and just as Yuvan does, and just as all the other's such as DEVA, Ilayaraja bla bla bla.

But if, Harris Jayaraj = "Shameless copycat",
Then A.R.Rahman WAS = "Shameless copycat", and, what A.R.Rahman WAS, is what Harris IS, and what Harris are gonna be is what A.R.Rahman IS today !!!!!!

Quality is a relative word, i guess you don't find the music of Harris Jayaraj good enough.

I think, you are the biggest liar here, and not Harris Jayaraj. Yes, we saw the letter from Harris Jayaraj in the media first. But i don't know what happened between Gautham & Harris, and neighter do you! So, don't try to act like you have been the best friend of Gautham, and knows everything what happened inside.

Movies, really need to know what kind of music the music director likes or dislikes, before he can state him as a musician, or a music composer. That shows how much you're into music, and how much we should put in you efforts of putting Harris Jayaraj in a bad light.

Harris Jayaraj didn't state, that he recreated the folk music craze with Andangkaakka & Kalyanam thaan. But maybe you're feeling so, as it must be true. And still, Harris Jayaraj is CURRENTLY, having more succes than RAHMAN in folk/ghaana section songs. Andangkaakka, Kalyanam thaan & Anjala songs have become the biggest hits. Movies, you JUMP OFF OOTY !!

Harris Jayaraj didn't copy Passion of christ theme. That's a sample cd, which is available. I'm tired of your shamelessly false accusations. You don't know a damn thing about music, athekkela perisa kathaikka vanthuthaangalaam. The sample cd is called: "Voices of the Aztecs" Go and buy that, if you got money enough, and LISTEN. & then TALK, mr. big flop movie.

Last, I respect A.R.Rahman in every way, but i had to compare him with Harris, in this post, as that's what you're doing. WHY, the heck do you always have to compare him with A.R.Rahman? He's still upcoming when compared to Rahman, however i believe he's doing a good job. And he will grow and do better. You're just jealous. What Harris said was true, Indian music directors are more versatile, and can easily score for an hollywood movie. Even Slumdogg Millionaire, was not the best of A.R.Rahman. Still it got the Oscars. That shows that Hollywood isn't the big thing, as everyone thought.

Movies, you are the biggest flop in the boxoffice right now, probably bigger than BABA and Udhaya put together. Periya loss.

Bottomline; HJ sucks. He has no sense of originality and neither do you! Anyone with a sense of reality knows how absurd HJ's statement about hollywood was.

I'm jealous of HJ? HAHAHA, is that you'r way of being funny? What does HJ have to be jealous over! He does not even have his own hair anymore, he wears a toupe! What a fake!

Rashid2raj,

What is there to answer? You post had absolutely no worthwhile defence. I thought it was only HJ with a problem, apparently his followers have a bigger issue.

Quite simply, ARR's work speaks for him and HJ's work speaks against HJ and more appaling is that HJ's work makes other MD's feel good about themselves, such as the Deva family!

Rashid, when did you become a HJ fanatic? :o

Not to start an unwanted discussion, but do you really think HJ is on par with ARR or "past" ARR, as you put it?

Well Yathu. After Vaaranam Aaiyram, something happened to me :D I don't know why. There's something in Harris Jayaraj. Something speciel.

No, i don't think that. Rahman is no mans area! But Harris is after all, the one after Rahman, right now. Or that's the way I'm seeing it. So, I just felt bad about people talking utter nonsense about him here in tfmpage. Cus' his music is really good. I hate comparing HJ to ARR. But the reason why people are doing it, must be that, he's the only competitor to Rahman.

Hi Rashid. A quick question. Don't you think HJ's music resemble the same feeling every time??? I mean he lacks in varieties... :?

Note, I was the biggest ARR fanatic, before. Even dissed Harris

Ungga kaalai kAttungga...

[tscii:fbe980393d]Aadhavan’s a treat to the ears’

… says Harris Jayaraj on his latest album

SRINIVASA RAMANUJAM Times News Network

The uproar over his supposed rift with Gautham Menon has just died down, with the director getting Oscar winner Rahman to set the tunes for his next movie. Harris Jayaraj seems a bit tired on that front, but that’s not stopping him from turning to his first love — music.
His songs in Vaaranam Aayiram came in for a lot of praise and going by the hard work he’s put in, that’s the same result that
he’s expecting for his tunes in the upcoming Suriyastarrer Aadhavan. And, he’s just waiting for the album to hit the stores.
“There’s a surprise for my fans in it,” he starts off, “The album will be a treat to the ears. I’ve used Dr Burn for a rap bit that’ll have the youth on their feet.” But, that’s not all — in the craze for composing peppy tunes, the affable musician hasn’t forgotten the old-world charm associated with yesteryear singers. “I’ve also gotten Mano to sing a song for me… now, how’s that,” he asks, with a twinkle in his eyes.
It could well be coincidence, but Harris has been scoring for a lot of Suriya movies. Harris expects the music of Aadhavan to be as popular as his Ayan, if not better. So, what’s the connection between Suriya and soulful music? “There’s some connection there, I think,” he muses, pondering for a minute, “Actually, when it comes to Suriya, he’s able to translate my songs well onscreen. His expressions and moves add value to the songs that I compose.”
So, like Suriya, is Harris a romantic at heart too? “No, not at all,” he smiles, “I’m more of a spiritual person these days. My romance is with God.”
It’s on that same note that he talks about his once-favourite director Gautham Menon, with whom he worked on Vaaranam Aayiram. “Anyone will want to work with Gautham,” is all he has to say when asked if he’ll work with the Kaakha Kaakha filmmaker again, “He gave me a chance to try out a dappankuthu type of a number in his film (Anjala…) and I’ll never forget that.”
Does he feel that he ought to have got Vinnaithaandi Varuvayaa, a project in which Gautham joins hands with A R Rahman? “Not at all,” he states, “I’m sure that this new combination will rock.”
Will he want to sign Gautham’s next film at least? “It’s not in my hands,” he says, shrugging his shoulders, “God gives me a decision when it has to be made and that’s how it works. I have no say in my decisions.” Philosophers, take a bow!

Vaaraiyo Vaaraiyo - Harris Jayaraj trademark melody. Sounds really good. But Unni's voice doesn't suit the song..

Album is very average. I liked only Hasile Fasiliye and Vaarayo Vaaryo to some extent, those trademark HJ melodies. I felt, other songs were somehow annoying, espeically Maasi Maasi.

Gautham Menon can extract excellent music out of this guy, but KSR...

I can just give 35/100.

Damakku Damakku - A peppy number, in the lines of Pala pala from Ayan. Benny Dayal is justifiying this one, and this would look good on screen. 9.5/10

Hasili Fisili Amazing song. Instantly catchy! Harris does it again! Karthik easily sing this song. And Harini sounds cute. 10/10

Maasi Maasi Starts of with some african sounding chants, the song brings Mano back into the tfm scene. Harris tries something different this time. This one's really good. The song will pick up after the movie release 8/10

Yeno Yeno Panithuli Again a different type melody. Not the usual Harris. Still catchy. The guitar riff is soothing. Again a winner!!! 8/10

Dekho Dekho - A song in the lines of Sariya thavara & Adithadi appathaa. Though heavily modernized, there's melody too. I'm awaiting to see the picturization on this song. 8/10

Vaaraiyo Vaaraiyo - WHAT A SONG.. WOUW. This is the stuff i expect from Harris. The piano gives the right feel, in the beginning. And Chinmaiye is amazing, again. This is the pick of the album. 10/10

Overall a good album from Harris. 2 hits, minimum :D

HJ is deteoriting albums by albums.. VA was good, Ayan was average, Aadavan is below average ! Not sure why he's not consistent when he only have few movies in hand.. Maybe he just need the extra push to deliver better goods like how Gautham did :-(

Songs are good....in line with expectations. Once film is out it will be big hits if the movie is a hit too...

As usual we can see so many "other camp" people here, u know who they are, rushing and condemning the album on first listen or even maybe half listen!!! Their aim is to make it look bad. Its pathetic...actually since they don't have anything much to discuss in their own stale forum as nothing much is happening there....oooops I might be giving away the identity of this group....

Another album, another director .. same actor.. (Suriya Again???) . The last time I made a comment I spoke too soon about Ayan.. being one of his weakest effort.. Atleast I was soo wrong about the Palapalkira song, to listen to the aspiring little kids coming on the singing shows just tells me how much reach HJ has.. Another Album, another success Ayan was no exception either..

Rashid whats with your apology and stuff? What suddenly the 'other' camps has 'sensitive' folks ? What with the reasonsing that somebody has to accept someone being fair becos they appreciated VA.. appreciating VA is telling a dumb buy that he cant speak..? .. VA doesnt need a review!!!!

Has anybody checked out the first 5 pages of this thread.. abuse ..abuse and more abuse ...Lets face it, HJ is the least loved MD in tfmpage. It is as simple as that .. just look at the other threads ..
Ppl will burn thier midnight lamp waiting to post about some producer who said that he likes 'our' MD's songs, when they called them about an album which cant be seen in the market..
Posting stuff about some directors who just happen to take the best from 'our' MD and praying his return to their camp..
Even worse.. quick to throw advices like "Even i hated in the beginning, dont give up ... listen to 100 more times, then you will find out that there are more layers in the music than earth's crust.. blah blah blah ..
and here is HJ he jsut won his filmfare.. his songs rocked TN.. Anjela becomes an anthem .. Vozhi Moodi becomes college mantra... and will wake up to a familair comment " He just lacks Variety .. U1 will the leading MD in tfmpage after ARR" (Im in no way pulling U1 legs..i just saw the thread ..it looks like U1's leading!!!)

Forget U1's fans, even U1 doesnt know when he had his last hit song that swayed TN..yeah granted he has 12 movies lined up .. lets hope lets hope...Im really sorry U1 isnt even in the same orbit as HJ right now.. GVP stormed with AO.. JV made us sway with "Oru vetkam varuthey".. IR breathed life with "Oli tharum Suriyanum" ... and U1?? . Not that it matters to me, let U1 win the poll and hope u all end up sleeping well.

Variety ..?? hmm "Dekho Dekho" will hopefully shut some mouths.. classical .. pop, rap.. rythm.. all in the same song.. are u kidding me.?. has anyone used the guitar like that in a tamil song??!!!

Vaarayo Vaarayo spoiled happily by Unni still feels good.. and Hasile will rock the colleges again...two other songs are average and Masi song is really bad together with this famous gibberish language.. . who knows I may be proved wrong again..But HJ seems to create a trend for opening hero worship songs, whatever happened to the kuthu songs.. Man I really miss the king of Kuthu VS. I think VS more than a melody king will remain to me as a King of Kuthu.. no peers for him int hat department..

One thing I have to give it to HJ.. his recording skills is second to none..the Surround sound was spectacular..
Again IMHO. Other observation looks like like IR thread is active these days what happened to the others..

HI all!!!
After listening to Aadhavan, I think its an ok album...Nothing great to write up. The songs are catchy...Some where you can find the old HJ style popping up in peppy numbers...But there is no surprise factor...Same old beats, tweaked tunes...

For eg. Hasile Fisile is much talked about...In my opinion, other songs in the album are sounding better than Hasile Fisile(barring that Mano number)..The reason is he is simply reusing his same old tunes....

Moreover Hasile Fisile reminds me of HJ's earlier composition "Eh Mugale Mugale" in an Arjun-Lara Dutta movie..
Like that, so many songs are just re-engineered and tweaked...

But overall, its a good album, a sure hit...The one praiseworthy thing in Harris' songs are the guitar usage...Man!!! he rocks there...Be it distortion guitar or bass, he gives his best...

Ayan was better than Aadhavan...May be songs will become hits as soon as movie is released...

[tscii:1cb0ec25f5]Old tunes, new album!

Hasili Fisiliye...— the popular song in the upcoming Suriya-starrer Aadhavan — might be on everybody’s lips but it has lent credence to the musically-inclined who find music composer Harris Jayaraj repeating his own tunes. The opening lines of the number sound suspiciously like a number he composed for Sathyam (Ada Gada...). And, that’s seeped into the other parts of the song too, which, according to many in the
industry, sounds a lot like Oh Mughalai… from Arjun’s Arasatchi. That’s not all… tunes in the melodious Vaarayo… sound like Un Siripil… (Pachaikili Muthucharam) and Nenje Nenje… (Ayan).
When we asked a leading director about this, he openly stated, “Yes, Harris has been repeating his old tunes.” On the condition of anonymity, he added, “The ‘I’ve-heard-this-before’ feeling is what strikes you when you hear the songs of Aadhavan.” Well, it’s time the Minnale composer went tunehunting…

Music review: Aadhavan (Tamil - Harris Jayaraj)
Posted by: Karthik In: Tamil OST

Hasili fisiliye is typical Harris fare - gibberish opening and a simple, rhythmic pattern; does get addictive after the initial annoyance. Yeno yeno has plain horrendous Tamil pronunciation by Shail and Andrea, with Sudha Ragunathan sadly sandwiched between both; this one and Vaarayo are painful leftovers from Harris’ earlier debacle, Satyam. Damakku is assembly-line and thoroughly irritating, while Dekho dekho is so slow that there are sleep-inducing moments even in between the track! Massi massi is nothing but an unnecessarily rude joke on Harris’ loyal fans. This is Harris’ weakest score and shows he’s taking his earlier success for granted.

Note: I gave a NW1W verdict via the Milliblog twitter feed (http://www.twitter.com/milliblog) for this soundtrack earlier. But, given the number of requests that came in for Aadhavan, its only fair that I give it its 100 words worth of spanking ;-) [tscii:72d1930061][/tscii:72d1930061]

Aadhavan's music is medicore

http://movies.rediff.com/report/2009/aug/28/south-tamil-music-review.htm

The reviewer has told the 'source of inspiration' also...

Enna koduma HARRIS ithu...

After K V Anand's Ayan, Surya is back with K S Ravikumar's Aadhavan, produced by Udhayanidhi Stalin. Nayanthara [ Images ] is the heroine. Harris Jeyaraj has composed the music to the lyrics of Thamarai, Na Muthukumar and Vaali . Here's what the album has to offer.

Mellow guitar strings begin Yeno Yeno Panithuli, which kind of remind you of an ABBA number but it's soothing, gentle, and does get your attention. The beats are steady, while Shaila Hada, Sudha Raghunathan and Andrea Jeremiah supply the vocals. The sax takes over the interlude, while the charanam sort of meanders from one end of the romantic spectrum to another. The rap segment is appealing, and the number maintains its softness throughout. Not scintillating but a pleasant listen.

The smooth, romantic number Aaraayo Vaaraayo, of Unni Krishnan and Chinmayi make you think you're listening to Gimme Gimme (another ABBA hit) as the subtle notes of a piano reach you first. Strains of Nenje Nenje can be heard as well in the charanam. It is mildly pleasing to the ear, but still, very familiar. The violin interlude is intensely bewitching, and some of its appeal continues into the charanam as well. You can't help feeling as though you've stumbled, sometimes, into a late eighties album. It might grow on you as you listen to it a couple of times but the credit for that would have to go to the instrumental music, and not the vocals.

Sandhya and Suvi Suresh begin Dheko Dheko, which harks back to the Rahatulla number from Ghajini [ Images ] and that pretty much says everything about this one. The lyrics are a mishmash of don't-care attitude (which grows tedious after a while) and liberal doses of rap. The pace is slow and steady, while the charanam suddenly morphs into an old-fashioned melody. It should have been mesmerising but somehow, its not. The veena interlude is sort of the saving grace of this number, but that's pretty much all you can say about it.

You can't really help it if the notes of a harmonica automatically remind you of Paartha Mudhal Naale, but there the resemblance ends. Benny Dayal takes up the reigns to render this one, and it's supposedly a happy-go-lucky song. The notes are stale, the beat only mildly interesting and the lyrics are all about winning the earth, the sky and the whole universe, come to think of it. A run-of-the-mill number.

Maasi Maasi is one of those songs which make you wish you had a universal translator device to make sense of the words, which sound like something straight out of an African ballad! Mano's deep voice supplies the vocals in company of Mega who certainly uses hers at full strength. The tribal echoes continue, but there's nothing haunting about it. It's a plain, beat-driven, and oft-heard.

After a list of mediocre numbers comes Hasili Fisiliye (you wish you knew what that meant), yet another romantic number, rendered by Harini and Karthik. After a few moments, you almost fall asleep. Which says much for its appeal.

Harris Jeyaraj is one of those composers who is not capable of turning out bad stuff even on a bad day, but this is one of those albums you can smell mediocrity from a mile away. Looks like Harris Jeyaraj is caught in the recycling rut. Yes, there are brief flashes of inspiration, but they last only moments.

Right from the start, Harris has started to tweak his own tunes and he has used in his movies..Moreover he is unable to change his style. Same old beats, slow songs with occassional brilliant song(off course due to his guitar usage)..Be it bass, acoustic or electric guitar he is the best in the current lot now....HJ formula is simple...Soft and slow music, one semi classical song, heard before tunes, soulful guitars, same beats, occassional rap thrown in..He needs to break the pattern..

But to sustain further, he has to change his style or accept offbeat movies like village subjects....His earlier so called village subject movies did not carry authentic village sounds...All were electronica music...

May be he needs to take a break and compose for fresh subjects...

[tscii:756b89189d]aathavan song fetch bad reviews

something never expected from the great
music director Harris Jayaraj. The recent audio release of ‘Aadhavan’ turned spotlights of entire town to heed for the melodies. However, soon after hearing, the masses were enraged as Harris Jayaraj had loosely inserted his old own compositions. It’s more illustrious with ‘Hasiliye Fisiliye’ that is nothing but ‘Ada Gada’ from Satyam and ‘Oh Mohalai’ from ‘Arasaaktchi’. ‘Vaarayo’ reminds us off nothing but ‘Un Sirpinil’ from Pacchaikili Muthucharam and ‘Nenje Nenje’ from Ayan.

Earlier, Harris Jayaraj used to add the words from Christian prayer songs…. The exemplification lies with ‘Mudhal Naal Indru’ from ‘Unnale Unnale’ where you will hear ‘Hosanna…Hosanna’. Likewise, the song ‘Oru Maalai’ from ‘Ghajini’ has ‘Alleluia’…

Well, the ‘Minnale’ song – Vaseegara was nothing but a strong base of A.R. Rahman’s ‘Pudhu Vellai Malai’ as we hear the instrumental on flute.

Suriya, Jo unite Goutham, Harris
IndiaGlitz [Thursday, September 10, 2009]

Believe it or not, Tamil film industry grapevine has it that a recent dinner party hosted by Suriya and Jyothika has united the Goutham Menon-Harris Jayaraj duo, which witnessed a break after an eight-year long successful partnership.

If sources are to be believed, the actor couple, whose career graph touched great heights after Kakkha Kakkha, directed by Goutham and music composed by Harris, decided to smoke the peace-pipe between the filmmaker and music composer.

As a result, they arranged for a dinner, for which they invited Goutham without mentioning that Harris is going to take part and invited Harris without telling him that Goutham is going to attend.

Both Harris and Goutham were initially shocked to meet each other at the dinner. They however exchanged pleasantries after a short while and were seen chatting for a long time, it is said. When the party came to an end, they reportedly left the place with all smiles, thanking Suriya and Jo for coming up with such an idea and implementing it.

Goutham and Harris, who worked together ever since they started their career with Minnale, parted ways during Varanam Aayiram, starring Suriya. A R Rahman is the music composer for the forthcoming two projects of Goutham- Vinnaithandi Varuvaya and Chennaiyil Oru Mazhaikkalam.

Its funny no 1 did all these when Shankar and A.R.Rahman parted awhile for Anniyan...

But its good news and good thing for Harris fans... though its a loss for Gautham if he stop his combo with ARR no doubt...

I don't understand why you guys are comparing the split between Harris-Goutham with ARR-Shankar..

In the latter, there was NO split at all (in terms of any difference of opinion).. Shankar himself told in many interviews during Anniyan release that ARR was too busy by then.. he could NOT rope him for that project... he just went to HJ as an alternative...

whereas HJ-GM, there was a split during VA composing... what I heard from reliable sources was.. Harris composed the song 'Adiye Kolluthe' for VA which GM also liked very much.. but GM cannot fit this song in the VA's screenplay... but Harris insisted to have this song to be picturised in the moviw... he was damn sure abt the success of this song..

also, if you remember correctly, 'Adiye kolluthe' song was first released as a solo song before releasing the entire album.. (something similar to Lesa Lesa song from the same movie).. The response was excellent which forced GM to picturize this song in the movie.. this might have irked some problems.. also if you would have seen any recent interviews, GM told that only HJ decided NOT to work with him... he is ready to patch with him again...

Ko, which has Jiiva, Ajmal, Karthika and Pia Bajpai, is being directed by KV Anand. The film’s audio will be launched in the month of November says its music director Harris Jayaraj.

Yet another film for which Harris is scoring the music is Engeyum Kaadhal. According to the musician it will have nine tracks in total of which seven will be launched initially and the remaining two later on. Harris opines that the tracks in both the films will turn out to be chartbusters.

Harris Jayaraj the lyricist debuts in Engeyum Kaathal

Harris Jayaraj the lyricist debuts in Engeyum Kaathal

With the Jeeva starrer KO, composer Harris Jayaraj will make his onscreen debut in a cameo appearance alongside the rest of the cast. It took a lot of persuasion on director K. V. Anand’s side to get the composer face the big camera for KO. Now Harris the actor/composer has also tried his hands writing the lyrics to one of the tracks in his other upcoming release Engeyum Kadhal.

It was more of a ‘fortunate accident’ so to say as Harris discovered his new found talent when working on the album really late into the night. Knowing that it was too late to call in someone sing the songs for him the composer took it upon himself to stir up some creative juices. ‘Kulu Kulu Ven Pani pola’ were the golden words that fumbled out from ‘Harris the lyricist’ for the first time ever.

He was winding up his re-recording for Engeyum Kadhal and it is then that he felt the need to replace the original instrumental piece with a full blown song having lyrics from the man himself. ‘Kulu Kulu Ven Pani pola’ is a real special number for Harris and new comer Arjun has performed the vocal duties on this one.

So both Ko and Engeyum Kaathal have Harris playing double roles in different fields altogether.

Harris Jayaraj's concert sees date change

Thanks to the unpredictable weather in Chennai, Harris Jayaraj's concert, On The Edge, has seen a change of date! As the inclement weather is prevailing in Chennai and is expected to continue for the next two days there has been a change of date for the concert.

Nanban music from December
November 15, 2011 By The Editor Leave a Comment

It’s a great year for Vijay and Harris Jayaraj as they have been streaking success in their own respective arenas. Well they’re coming together for the first time in Shankar’s ‘Nanban’. Harris Jayaraj has managed to churn out chartbusters one after the other.

Nanban music from December

Harris Jayaraj is now working on the final mix of the album and the master copy will be ready somewhere by next couple of weeks. As the producers are planning to release the film on January 14 for Pongal, the music is likely to hit audio stores by first week of December as they need at least a month gap between the audio and theatrical release.

Nanban audio launch in 3D
December 13, 2011

Yes, you heard it right . If all goes well , Nanban audio launch will happen in 3D , which is first of its kind in Tamil cinema .It is believed that Harris Jayaraj has come up with six unique tracks for this movie which will be launched in Hindustan College of Arts and Science in Coimbatore on December 23rd . The guests attended the audio launch will be provided with special 3D glasses . The man behind this idea is none other than ace director , Shankar . He wanted the audio launch to be unique with style and elegance and he proposed this idea to Gemini Film Circuits , who seems to have accepted this innovative idea. Nanban has Ilayathalapathy Vijay in a new avatar breaking his commercial films and also stars Jiiva, Srikanth , Sathyaraj, Ileana and Anuya in prominent roles.

Nanban Music Review

From the maker of the most prestigious films from ‘Gentleman’ to‘Endhiran’, the filmmaker is setting forth his feat into next film ‘Nanban’. Produced by Gemini Film Circuit, the film is a remake of ‘3 Idiots’ starring Vijay, Jiiva and Srikanth in lead roles while Ileana makes her comeback into Tamil film industry after a very long time. The album has 6 tracks with Na. Muthukumar, Madhan Karky, Pa. Vijay and Vivega penning the songs.
En Frienda Pola Yaaru Machan
Vocals: Krish, Suchith Suresan
Lyrics: Vivega
For the first time you hear the song, its your close friend coming into your memories. Aaha friend is someone who brings change into your life, makes you happy and urge you to lead and live your life to the fullest. The song has been creating huge sensation from the time teasers were screened. Krish and Suchit haverendered the song with panache. This is expected to be the title song where Jiiva and Srikanth good into search of their friend Vijay.
Askku Laska
Vocals: Vijay Prakash, Chinmayi, Suvi (Rap)
Lyrics: Madhan Karky
This is yet another special song into the album as it is composed with lyrical lines based on various languages. Its a splendid romantic song crooned by Vijay Prakash, Chinmayi and rap lines by Suvi. Moreover the grand visuals pictured and Manoj Paramahamsa's cinematography should enhance thek feel of song.
Nalla Nanban
Vocals: Ramakrishnan Moorthy
Lyrics: Na. Muthukumar
It’s an emotional song based on friendship and it makes you emotionally bounded. Every line makes your heart melting down. It’s a good combination of best spellbinding lyrics and a laudable performance by Ramakrishnan Moorthy. The song takes place during the critical point of movie. The usage of violins, sitar and Mridangam become the soul of this song.
Irukaana
Vocals: Vijay Prakash, Javed Ali, Sunidhi Chauhan
Lyrics: Pa. Vijay
This is a peppy fast romantic number with best singers like Vijay Prakash, Javed Ali and Sunidhi Chauhan rendering their best. The song will gain more intensity with the visuals for Shankar has used some great setsto film the track.
Heartiley Battery
Vocals: Hemachandran, Mukesh
Lyrics: Na. Muthukumar
3 Idiots had ‘All is Well’ has the major reason behind gaining more popularity. Now Shankar, Harris Jayaraj and Na. Muthukumar have used the same words to add intensity to the song. Topic Change aana Neeyum Makkuthaan – Lines like this add more humour to the song.
Endhan Kan Munney
Vocals: Aalaap Raju
Lyrics: Madhan Karky
Aalaap Raju doesn’t need an introduction for he has already become the favorite singer for his great hits from ‘Ko’ and ‘Engeyum Kadhal’. Now he comes together again with Harris Jayaraj for a song penned by Madhan Karky. The trio combo is far-famed for its great success with ‘Ennamo Yedho’ in Ko.
On the whole, ‘Nanban’ has catchy numbers out of which three songs capture your interests by the first time you hear it.
Verdict: A different and special treat for Vijay fans.

The second leg of Harris On the Edge, a concert in Coimbatore, had everything going for it: a dazzling array of lights and LED screens, an exhilarating orchestra, the Tamil film industry’s leading vocalists and of course, the crowd’s deafening cheer accompanied the music in joyous abundance.

It was a theatrical high straightaway as Harris Jayaraj made a startling entrance in a steel capsule suspended 35 feet off the ground, and fireworks shooting out of his guitar! A particularly loud riff from him serenaded Krish and Sunitha on stage singing Adiye Kolluthe in a fast tempo.

It's been an eventful year for Harris Jayaraj who started his career more than a decade back through Gautham Menon's 'Minnale'. The ace composer kick started his live concert tour by late 2011 which have been received well with open arms by his fans and music lovers.

Tracks from 'Ko' (Original Tamil version of 'Rangam') was all chartbusters will be an understatement, the songs were mostly super hits with 'Enamo Aedho...' topping the charts. Whereas, '7aum Arivu' faired moderately well.

Harris currently has five promising projects in store for 2012, including 'Nanban' whose audio has already become a rage. The film is a Pongal release and boasts off six tracks.

He also has 'Oru Kal Oru Kannadi' with director Rajesh, a laugh riot specialist. The film stars Udhaynidhi Stalin and Hansika Motwani in the lead roles and is expected to see an audio release shortly. The song in the teaser 'Kadhal Butterfly...' opened to rave reviews.

Apart from these will be 'Maatraan' with KV Anand and Suriya Sivakumar with whom he had earlier worked in 'Ayan'. This again, is one of the biggies of 2012 and stars Kajal Aggarwal as the female lead. Harris has composed one track for this film as of now.

Music for Ilayathalapathy's next, 'Thupakki', with AR Murugadoss will also be by Harris Jayaraj. He'll be pairing with director Selvaraghavan, for the latter's pet project 'Irandam Ulagam' that stars Arya and Anushka in the lead roles.

IndiaGlitz wishes the music composer a very happy birthday and an eventful year ahead!

Akon to sing for Vijay's Thupaki!

Senegalese-American R&B singer Akon will be soon singing a song in Tamil. The credit for bringing him to the Kollyood goes to AR Murugadoss, who has signed him for his upcoming movie Thupaki.

If reports are to be believed, Akon has given his nod to sing a track in Vijay starrer Thupaki. Musician Harris Jayaraj has started working on it and he is putting his best efforts on the tune, as he is keen to make the number a chartbuster not only in Tamil Nadu but all across the nation.

Harris On The Edge at Dubai

Harris will be performing live all over the world accompanied by a troupe of Tamil playback singers and international musicians and dancers. Here are the stills of ‘Harris on the Edge’ concert held at Dubai on Saturday night.

Nenjukkul Peidhidum and Oh Shanthi Shanthi from Vaaranam Aayiram were among the songs presented with the help of the backdrop at the concert. At the end of the show, a short fireworks display lit up Festival City’s open area.

Harris blends digital technology and music to give a unique experience. However, the absence of a good visual and sound surround proved a challenge for the lower end ticket holders. The lower chairs were some 200 to 300 metres away from the stage.

Harris Jayaraj On 'Maatraan' & 'Irandam Ulagam'
IndiaGlitz [Thursday, May 03, 2012]

Harris Jayaraj currently is currently composing for some of the most expected films of the year including 'Maatraan', 'Irandam Ulagam', 'Thupaki' and many more biggies.

Speaking on the status of 'Maatraan' he says, "85% of Maatraan music is over. In a month's time, I will be completing the rest of the work and in about 45 days, the audio would be ready for release. Maatraan composition was done in 6 countries. We were going on a cruise and the ship used to touch many countries in its journey and it was mostly along the Mediterranean Sea. And the idea was entirely KV Anand's. We finished 3 songs in 7 days!"

'Maatraan' features Suriya Sivakumar and Kajal in the lead roles. It brings back the hit combo of 'Ayan', that is to say, KV Anand - Harris Jayaraj - Suriya.

Speaking on 'Irandam Ulagam' he says, "After a long time, I am working with Vairamuthu sir. Irandam Ulagam will be a musical treat for all music lovers. We have six songs with good lyrics and it is getting better day by day and we are all excited about the project".
