Now lets turn to style - The charecter that had elegance, flair and are fasionable and unique in outfit and mannerisms.

*Important Note : Being handsome is different from being stylish

List your most fav stylish charecters on screen.

My Fav list

1.Johnny - jean,t shirt and a jacket, rajni with his natural looks and styles without any of his gimmicks.Everything he did was stylish one way or another in this film.

2.Sigappu Rojakkal - Leather jacket, trousers and a cap with the coolers.Sophisticated diction and mannerisms - yeah..dashing Kamal Haasan

3.Kurudhipunal - purely formal outfits with the rayban glass and yeah the police haircut.kamalhaasan looked as good as ever...with his stylish mannerisms and diction.

4.Thalapathy - the charecter had nothing but a pair of shirt and pants to wear. But was cool and stylish - Thanks to ultra cool rajni and the cinematography of santhosh sivan.

5.Mouna ragam(karthik) - Perfectly dressed handsome karthik playing the lover boy role in a maniratnam movie - under pcs camera.

6.Billa(Ajith) - Dashing ajith in suits and glasses under gorgeous cinematography.

7.MMKR(Madhan) - The suave Multi millionare should always look stylish and he did.

8.Thambikku endha ooru - Another simple role - which had no fashionable costumes to wear but was stylish...Rajni was handsome and more importantly sylish "adhu nalaiku..aanaa inniku nadandhadhu nadandhadhuthana"

9.Nizhal nijamagiradhu - Funny carefree intellectual with his own way of dealing people...so charming and stylish

10.chathriyan - Police roles were never cool and arrogant as this before or after...Vijayakanth's machismo and never-mind attitude was one of the best.

and from the older movies

my favs are

Par magale paar - rich suave egomaniac - too stylish...the way he uses his suit and cigarette..attagasam.

Karnan : How to describe the style factor of this charecter..hmm...it was like a ferrocius huge carnivore making a style statement.

pasamalar - after he became rich - extremely stylesh...his cigarette puffs and cynical looks

Deivamagan - older shivaji

Uyarndha manidhan

Not in particular order - just my list

people can come up with their fav stylish performances.especially the charecters played by yesteryear stylish heroes like shivaji ganesan from that generation(hehe) fans.

My favourites.

NT - Numerous, don't know which one. The rich guy in Navarathiriya sollluratha? Ponmagal Vanthal paattu scene-ai describe pannuratha, Gouvaramla style-aiye gauvravichathu sollava, Pottu Vaitha Mugamo paattu scene-la neutral-aana engga amma-vai pessavachathu sollavaa illa Tanggapathakamla bramikkavathathu sollava....which one? So many!

So, I move on to my other favourites.

Kamal:
Sigappu Rojakkal: See Viv's description
Tonggathey Thambi Toonggathey - Stylish drug addict - you don't see it often. The film that made me a fan.
Soorasamharam: Tough and stylish.
Kalaignan - The long overcoat, underrated presence in an equally underrated film.
Devar Magan - The stylish hippy look at the beginning.

Rajini
Any scenes where he wears suit, can't beat it.
Other than that:
Talabathi - the sillouette. Awesome.
Billa - Say what you want about that coat. Then, it was cool!
Mundru Mugam - Take NT's SP. Chowdary and mix with Rajini style, you get Alex Pandiyan.
Sivaji - Mottai boss.

Other mentions.
Prabhu - Looked cool in Vetri Vizha. Not bad in My Dear Marthandan.
Sathyaraj - okay, forget about the wig, but back in late 80s, he appeared with some longish coat and scarf which looks good on him (case in point, Jeeva).
Madhavan - Business dress do give him a touch of stylishness.

Extra mention.
Ajith in Billa. Bloody good look and stylish costume.

LOL, idhellAm romba over! But yeah, Khushboo is just stunning in this film.

Like I said earlier, it is intellectually lazy to understand a comment on the dignity or persona of a character simply as a prudish remark based on the amount of "skin show." Also, we should pause for a moment and consider how we react to a similar comment on a male actor. Then it would automatically mean 'dignity' in the actual sense!
