Aayirathil Oruvan audio on June 14
By Moviebuzz | Wednesday, 10 June , 2009, 08:35

One of the most eagerly awaited film in recent times Selvaragavan’s epic Aayirathil Oruvan, will have its audio launch on Sunday, June 14.

The function would be held at the University Centenary Hall in Chepauk in Chennai, where all stars from the movie including Reema Sen would be present.

It would be a glitzy affair, with African and Kerala dancers, and singers who have sung in the film performing on stage. A final decision is yet to be taken on whether there will be a live telecast of the event on a popular television channel.

There are 10 songs in the album composed by the little master G.V Prakash, out of which six will be there in the film. The music is going to be unique as three of the songs composed are meant on how music was in the seventh century!

A lot of research has gone into these songs especially the musical instruments used in that period, which were sourced from various countries. Selvaraghavan, G.V Prakash along with other unit members is holding a press meet in Chennai today (June 10), to talk about this unique audio.

Noted lyricist Vairamuthu has penned three songs with Tamil words that were used in pre-historic times. Selva has also written three of the songs in the film, which is going to take GV, to another level in Tamil film music.

Checked out INDHA......Very nice.
G.V.P sings very well, appealing classical guitar orchestration.

Thaai ......

தாய் தின்ற மண்ணே ....... விஜய் யேசுதாஸ் is amazing with grand violin section with chorus dhiranas and strong percussion interlude.... raga improvisations of the melody gives me the urge to listen செவ்வானமே சீர் கொண்டு வா......விஜய்'s அப்பா - யேசுதாஸ் & ஷைலஜா .. old compostion by K.V.Mahadevan.

The second version
The Cholan Ecstacy has a POWERFUL usage of percussions - udukkai, mirudhangam, tabala, ghatam etc.. in various sections of the composition.
Very nice classical raga fusion pathos.
Loving both the versions.

good job, G.V.P. Rest later..... Vinatha. :)

Selva & Yuvan make peace!

By Moviebuzz | Monday, 15 June , 2009, 11:00

There are no permanent friends or enemies in cinema. The audio launch of Aayirathil Oruvan saw the re-union of the hit director - music director combo of Selvaraghavan and Yuvan Shankar Raja.

The surprise guest at the audio launch at University centenary hall in Chennai was Yuvan who came to wish Selva and watch GV Prakash抯 first live performance on stage. He sat through the whole show, hugged Selva and left with a smile.

Later, Yuvan told Sify.com: ?I was waiting to hear the audio of Aayirathil Oruvan and was pleased when producer Ravendran invited me for the launch. Selva has always been special and will remain to be so. I think the audio rocks?

An overwhelmed Selva with a smile: 揌e is my brother. It is one of the happiest days in my life and I love him?

Selvaraghavan抯 super show

By Moviebuzz | Monday, 15 June , 2009, 10:35

The audio launch of Selva Raghavan抯 Aayirathil Oruvan was one of the best launches in recent time.

There were no tall claims made by the director and the launch function itself was unique in many ways.

Selva in his note to the media said: 揟his is not a genre film. I wanted to make this film, because I have not made a film like this ever. Aayirathil Oruvan is truly every man抯 story卋ut it happens only to one man in a million.?P> The highlight of the function was that four of the 10 songs in the album were performed live on stage by G.V Prakash and his team along with the singers who sang in the film.

Selva and music director GV Prakash made it point to have only south Indian singers like Karthik, Vijay Yesudas, Andrea, Nithyasree Mahadevan, Dhanush and Aishwarya Dhanush to sing for the film.

The novelty of the show lied in the fact that even the audio launch had a story board. Right form the invite card that resembled like a manuscript, the ambience, music, the audio CD which was brought to the dais on a palanquin, everything was classy.

For the first time ever, no trailer or a clipping including song from the film or its making was shown to the invitees. This has actually stirred a curiosity around the film, as Selva was able to keep the look of the film shrouded in a mystery.

The live performance of GV Prakash was the highlight of the evening. GV as he is known among friends became the third and youngest music director to perform live on stage after Ilayaraja and AR Rahman. In fact AR Rahman抯 mother Kareema Begum along with her daughters was present to cheer him.

Another outstanding performance came from actor Dhanush and his wife who sang the peppy number Un Mele Aasadhaan?/I> along with Andrea. There was a fashion show, a Kalari performance, Chenda melam by women from Kerala, a classical dance by actress Poorna choreographed by Sivasankar master.

Selva Raghavan preferred to keep a low profile as he sat with his wife Sonia among the audience and enjoyed the show. Later in his thanksgiving speech he said: 揈veryone in the film including the producer, actors, cameraman and myself have worked hard to reach the next level but the real heroes I would like to thank are the hundreds of junior artists who worked 252 days in different locations with a smiling face. I want to do more films in Tamil and do not intend to go to Bollywood?

kalladiya silai....beautiful and apt for remembering a lost land & glory. the whole song is a bliss from lyrical and musical veiwpoint . Earlier he did this to me in KM with panaimara kaade...paraivaigal koode...

un Mela Aasaithaan = Adada vaa  I think it must have been composed by yuvan earlier for AO and when he broke off with SR should've taken the song to sarvam. While SR should've made GVP build the song from the scratches leftover by Yuvan :|

Listened to all songs thoroughly...

Don't know which one to pick as THE BEST. I ignored Oh Eesa, Un Mela aasadhan songs. Listened to them once or twice. Just skipped them...

Thaai thindra manne (both versions) are astonishing while "Pemmane" stands out for its lyrics and rendition... Malai Neram (which many did not like) was very much convincing with breezy lyrics and simple orchestration. Andrea - Not bad. Indha paadhai is good but I'm not going gaga over this song...

Vairamuthu  for the Chola Period lyrics...

வாழ்ந்தாலும்,
சந்ததிகள் வீழ்ந்தாலும்,

OTOH, Selva's lyrics in Maalai Neram song are very breezy and romantic

Seriously I think an adventure film doesnt need songs, they will slow down the speed.

After hearing the songs, had to watch Obamas "yes we can "speech to get back my mood. AO songs are definately not my cup of tea.

As usual GVP doesnt impress me, if the tune is right, the music is jarring and if the music is good his tune is wrong.

Mahen, its really not worth buying the so called 'original' cds of Malaysian Cds. They will edit the songs and or chop some portion up just to fit in 2 movies in 1 album. Whats worse, they quality ARE NEVER THE SAME as the Indian CD releases. These monkeys will edit it to so call 'enhance' them but only made them sound atrocious. Vaaji Vaaji from Sivaji was a great example. Try listening to the Indian CD version, the sounds r awfully SHARP and clear. Malaysian CD version was very very blunt.... :( in short, Malaysian original CDs r bull**** !!

u r right dude... this is a stunning stunning stunning album...

I didn't feel like the album was growing on me... It was likeable in the first listen itself. The most suprising factor is that it is GVP who has delivered this. I liked his versatility with guitar based songs the most. I am sure no one would have suspected that he would deliver something like this, eventhough we were all sure that being a Selvaraghavan film the songs will be good. While I wouldn't rate this extra ordinary, it is still a very commendable effort from a budding MD.. kudos!

[tscii:f2bbb549a5]Selvaraghavan retains GV Prakash Kumar

June 17, 2009

With just the grading and special effect work that needs to completed for Aayirathil Oruvan, director Selvaraghavan is keen on moving on to his next venture Idhu Maalai Nerathu Mayakkam with Dhanush and Andrea in the lead. This film will commence sometime at the end of July. The brothers – Selvaraghavan and Dhanush – have given several blockbusters together in the past. The fans expect yet another smash hit from the siblings in the form MNM.

GV Prakash Kumar and Selvaraghavan seem to have bonded well with AO so much so that the director has signed up the music director once again

Selva Raghavan’s in house film Idhu Maalai Nerathu Mayakkamwhich was to feature Dhanush and Andrea in the lead, has now been scrapped.

Andrea in an interview to a newspaper confirmed that the “project is not taking off”. The grapevine has it that the project has now been shelved as a part of a deal between Selva and his wife Sonia who objected to Andrea getting too close to her director.

The film carried a tag line- ‘being single is bliss’, so ironically it looks like for Andrea remaining single is bliss! Earlier Selva had said in various interviews that he will start work on the project once Aayirathil Oruvan is complete.

[tscii:cfdc906d65]Why ‘AO’ and ‘Sarvam’ have the same tune
IndiaGlitz [Thursday, June 18, 2009]

Wondered why Adada in Sarvvam and Un Mela Aasai dhaan in Aayirathil oruvan sound alike? Despite it being common for songs with similar instrumentation to sound alike, the resemblance that these two songs shared was obvious. And now, we know why.

‘Aayirathil Oruvan’, directed by Selva Raghavan, has music by GV Prakash. But it may be remembered that the original music director for the film was Yuvan Shankar Raja, who later opted out of the project. But he had already completed two songs in the film, one of which later went on to become Adada in ‘Sarvam’.

But the song had been picturised, and dance movements canned, before Yuvan dropped out. So director Selva Raghavan had apparently insisted with GV Prakash to have a similar song to match the visuals shot.

Yuvan Shankar Raja, not wanting to leave this tune unused, shared it with another of his favourite directors, Vishnuvardhan.

‘Aayirathil Oruvan’ has Karthi and Andrea in the lead, and has been produced by Dream Valley Corporation.[/tscii:cfdc906d65]

Best album in recent years. I mean.. beats all of Harris' and Yuvan's work in the past couple of years. Astounding album.

Oh Eesa song (both versions), Un Mela Aasadhaan are very good.
The two instrumental pieces are great,
Pemmane, Maalai Neram and Thaai thinra are matchless.

 what??? It sounds so pure G.V.P. infact it reminded me of "Ithe enna Maayam" from Oram Po in some parts. Probably Andrea kinda imitated Bombay Jayashree in the song made u say so?

Sony Music throws AO audio success party!
By Moviebuzz | Sunday, 21 June , 2009, 11:34

Sony Music threw a big bash, to celebrate the success of the music of Aayirathil Oruvan at GRT Convention centre.

It was unique in many ways as only Radio Jockeys and production team from all FM stations in Chennai were invited for the event.

The Aayirathil Oruvan team of Selva Raghavan, GV Prakash, Parthipan, Andrea, Ramji and producer R.Ravindran were there along with the Sony Music team. The music of the film has been appreciated by the critics and it is selling very well.

It started with a session of Q & A to the Radio media- What would you do if you wereAayirathil Oruvan? The best reply was from an RJ who said: “I will have Andrea and Reemma on either side!”

Three songs from the film were performed on stage, by professional dancers. Andrea hogged the show in her body hugging black off shoulder dress. She was in her elements and seems to be enjoying the evening as she was the cynosure of all eyes.

Hmmm... the album is turning out to be a very complete album, something very very special. I love the song's flavor and arrangements. My only let down was Un Mele Aasaithan, which tailored YSR's Adada- Sarvam, but that too becoz the Dir asked to. If only this song and that Oh Ehsa is not there, it would be a very very original album. Dun think any budding MDs could easily come up with songs like this. Good for G.V.P.

Lol.. Even I got reminded of Potter's Village while listening to that guitar riff. The first half of the track till the guitar portion borrows heavily from WOHE. It is not a copy, but the instrumentation techniques followed is similar.

Epdi pathaalum this is not the best track of the album. GVP has thrown up many surprises in the rest!

just started listening to AO songs
I find striking similarities between this movie and Sarvam songs

Unmela Aasadhan - Adada Vaa (listen carefully and you will notice almost the whole song is the same)

edit: ok just went few pages back and checked it out ;)

King Arrives - Distortion guitar and some beats sounds a bit like Sarvam Theme

Bought the cd finally...The two theme music have been removed.. The reason i guess is to fit in another album... :hammer: :hammer: :hammer: Bloody malaysian mentality...Inneme download thaan..no more supporting original stuffs...

DO NOT BUY THEM

i have always wanted to know... how piracy is easily possible in malasia alone??...even india gets cd from there only....is it legal there???it might not be relevant here but even clubbing two movies in one cd is a sort of piracy right??karthik, i hope you are still here..

while piracy is widespread in msia and it's illegal, dinesh is not talking about those..

those low quality ones dinesh talked abt are indeed ORIGINAL ones and are high priced. It is perfectly legal to combine 2 albums as they hold copyright to it and when they don't, they seek copyright permission first.

dinesh just wanted to point out how low quality the malaysian original cd's are when compared to the indian original cds..

Mountain of the Cannibal God (Italian title: La montagna del dio cannibale) is an Italian cult movie, English spoken, starring Ursula Andress and Stacy Keach. The film was banned in the UK until 2001 for its graphic violence and considered a "video nasty.

Set in the Jungles of New Guinea, Susan Stevenson (Ursula Andress or ANDREA) is trying to find her missing anthropologist (father) husband Henry. So she enlist the services of a Professor Edward Foster (Stacy Keach or KARTHI), who thinks her husband might have headed for a mountain named Ra Ra Me, which is located just off the coast on the island of Roka.

The locals believe that the mountain is cursed, and the authorities won't allow expeditions there. So they surreptitiously head on into the jungle to see if that's where he went. They eventually make it to the island, and after a few few run-ins against some unfriendly anacondas, alligators and tarantulas,(red clolour jelly fish,cg snakes) they meet another jungle explorer named Manola (played by regular Italian B-movie star Claudio Cassinelli or REEMA SEN WHO COMES A LITTLE EARLY FOR DISSIMILIARITIES SAKE)
Upon arriving at the mountain, they are immediately captured by the natives that Foster described and taken to their camp.

Susan is subsequently spared, while the cannibals feast on human and reptile flesh. She is stripped naked, tied up, and smeared with an orange cream by two native girls for what is supposed to be a session of honey torture, but she is instead turned into a goddess (HE HE HE REEMA sen in new AVATAR).

Remaining idiosyncratics i believe is from SELVARAGHAVAN till somebody finds the source...

GOOD WORK SELVA KEEP IT UP....
