Mumbai: The long-delayed moment in cinematic history finally happened when two superstars Rajinikanth and Shah Rukh Khan shot together for Ra.One at Subhash Ghai's Whistling Woods studio.
The mighty Tamil icon arrived with his younger daughter Soundarya who single-handedly made the historic scene possible. The rest of Rajinikanth's family was apparently totally against his one-day break from his sabbatical and the process of recuperation.
In fact, Rajinikanth's elder daughter Aishwarya categorically told this writer a few days ago that the super icon was not shooting for Ra.One! But Rajini did arrive here Sunday with Soundarya and her team of technicians.

In the afternoon, the megastar and his team headed for Ghai's studio and shot the scene amidst an environment of incredible bonhomie. Shah Rukh then bid goodbye to the semi-ailing Chennai God.
King Khan and his Ra.One team later headed straight for the studios to put the scene in place. Ra.One now stands officially complete. Sound designer Resul Pookutty took time off from post-production of Ra.One to describe the "humbling, inspiring, overwhelming experience" of watching the two superstars shoot together.
"The shooting went off like a dream. Watching Rajini Sir and SRK together was indeed a dream come true. The shooting went off so gracefully and with so much finesse. This is truly a great tribute from one superstar to an icon," said Resul.
"The Ra.One team feels the film is complete now after Rajini Sir's shooting. Both Rajini Sir and Shah Rukh in one frame together are like wildfire! They were so comfortable together. It was hard to imagine they had never shot together before," Resul added.
Resul felt the shooting couldn't have happened without Soundrya's support.
"She came to Mumbai with her team to oversee every detail of the shooting. There is no one like Rajinikanth. He proved it when he set aside his health concerns and came to Mumbai on Sunday," Resul noted.
"The Ra.One team can't thank him enough," said Resul adding: "If he had not shot for us, Ra.One would've remained incomplete."
A witness said, "Shah Rukh and Rajini Sir hit it off instantaneously. It was almost like their sequence together was meant to happen."
"Shah Rukh and Rajni Sir were so comfortable with one another. Shah Rukh made the senior superstar so comfortable. There was no doubt that Shah Rukh is Rajinikanth's fan and he didn't hide it on Sunday afternoon as he faced the icon for the camera," the witness said.
Apparently the only other time when King Khan felt so humbled while shooting with a co-star was when he shot with Amitabh Bachchan for the first time, and with that other doyen of Tamil cinema - Kamal Haasan - in Hey Ram. - IBNLIVE.com

ஷாருக்கான் நடிக்கும் ‘ரா ஒன்’ என்ற இந்தி படத்தில் ரஜினிகாந்த் நடித்த காட்சி மும்பையில் படமானது.

இந்தக் காட்சியில் மூன்று மணி நேரம் ரஜினிகாந்த் நடித்தார். ரஜினி நடிப்பில் ‘ராணா' பட தொடக்க விழா கடந்த ஏப்ரல் மாதம் 29ம் திகதி நடந்தது.

பூஜையில் பங்கேற்ற ரஜினிக்கு திடீர் உடல்நலக் குறைவு ஏற்பட்டது. சிறுநீரக கோளாறு காரணமாக சிங்கப்பூர் மருத்துவமனையில் சேர்க்கப்பட்டு சிகிச்சை பெற்று திரும்பினார். இப்போது பண்ணை வீட்டில் ஓய்வு எடுத்து வருகிறார்.

இந்நிலையில், இந்தியில் ஷாருக்கான் நடிக்கும் ‘ரா ஒன் படத்தில் ரஜினி நடிப்பார் என்று தகவல் வெளியானது. இந்நிலையில் ஷாருக்கான் தனது டுவிட்டர் பக்கத்தில், ரஜினியின் ஆசியுடன் ரா ஒன் பட ஷூட்டிங் இன்று முடிந்தது. கண்ணீருடன் அவருக்கு நன்றி தெரிவித்துக்கொள்கிறேன். பிரார்த்தனையும் குடும்பத்தாரின் அன்புமே அவரை குணம் அடைய வைத்திருக்கிறது. எங்கள் படம் உங்களால் (ரஜினியால்) நிறைவடைந்தது என்று குறிப்பிட்டுள்ளார். ‘ரா ஒன்’ படத்தில் ரஜினி ஓரிரு காட்சிகளில் நடித்துள்ளார். அந்த காட்சி நேற்று முன்தினம் படமானதையும் ஷாருக்கான் தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.

ரஜினி நடிக்கும் காட்சிக்கான ஷூட்டிங், முதலில் ஐதராபாத்தில் நடத்த திட்டமிடப்பட்டிருந்தது. பின்னர் மும்பைக்கு மாற்றப்பட்டது. 4ம் திகதி நடத்த முடிவு செய்திருந்த ஷூட்டிங், ரஜினியின் விருப்பத்துக்கு ஏற்ப காந்தி ஜெயந்த அன்று நடத்தப்பட்டது. 3 மணி நேரம் இதற்கான ஷூட்டிங் நடைபெற்றது. அவ்வப்போது இடைவெளி விட்டு ஷாருக்கானுடன் ரஜினி நடித்த காட்சிகளை படமாக்கினர். இப்படம் தீபாவளிக்கு திரைக்கு வருகிறது.

யார் நமக்கு என்ன செய்தார்கள் என்பதையெல்லாம் மனதில் வைக்காமல் பெருந்தன்மையோடு நடந்து கொள்வதில் ரஜினிக்கு நிகரில்லை. திரையுலகில் தன்னை வசைபாடியவர்கள், கடுமையாக விமர்சித்தவர்கள் அத்தனை பேருக்கும், ஆபத்தான நேரத்தில் கைகொடுத்தவர் இதே ரஜினிதான். அந்தப் பட்டியல் பெரியது. ஷாரூக்கானுக்காக தனது உடல் நிலையைக் கூடப் பொருட்படுத்தாமல், வீட்டில் எழுந்த எதிர்ப்புகளை புறந்தள்ளிவிட்டு (சௌந்தர்யா தவிர வேறு யாரும் ரஜினியின் இந்தப் பயணத்துக்கு ஒப்புக் கொள்ளவில்லையாம்), மும்பைக்குப் பயணம் செய்து நடித்துக் கொடுத்து வந்திருக்கிறார் என்றால், அதை என்னவென்று சொல்வீர்கள். ரஜினியின் இந்த குணம், ஷாரூக்கானை ரொம்பவே ஆடிப் போக வைத்துவிட்டது.

இதுகுறித்து தனது ட்விட்டரில், மிகுந்த குழப்பத்தில், புரிதலின்மையில், மன அழுத்தத்தில் நாங்கள் தவித்துக் கொண்டிருந்தோம். அப்போது ரஜினி சார் செட்டுக்குள் வந்தார். கடவுள் எதற்காக சினிமா படைத்தார் என்பதைப் புரிந்து கொண்டேன். ரஜினி எங்களை ஆசீர்வதித்தார். நாங்கள் முழுமை பெற்றோம். அவரது பெருந்தன்மை என் கண்களில் கண்ணீரை வரவழைத்துவிட்டது. அவருக்கும் குடும்பத்துக்கும் என் அன்பும் பிரார்த்தனைகளும் என்று குறிப்பிட்டிருந்தார்.

When Rajni Kanth was in the prime of his career he was virtually working around the clock so much so that he was stressed out. Perhaps to relieve the stress he had been over indulging in drinks. It was about this time that he and MGR had a fallout. I do not wish to go into details but a fallout with MGR means one's downfall. Rajni approached K.Balachander, his gurunathar, about his predicament. KB reiterated that life would not be easy if one is not in good terms with MGR. He suggested to Rajni to run wild in Mount Road on a hot mid-day just to prove that whatever he had been doing against MGR was not of his own doing. Rajni did just that but then he was labelled a mad man after this incident. Although it helped the situation with MGR he nevertheless began to feel depressed again. He was acting in the film "Billa" at that time. It was here he met up with Kanndhasan who was doing the songs for the same film. He opened up his emotions to Kaviarasar and the latter grasped the situation well. He assured Rajni that this was a turning point in the life of the former. He further assured that the time was not far for him (Rajni) to overtake the popularity of MGR. In short he will be a superstar soon. It was Kanndhasan who gave him the title 'superstar' way back in 1979. He immediately penned the song "Naatil Enakoru Oor Oondu..." for this film and said that some day he will acknowledge this predictive song. If one were to hear this song in verbatim now he or she will understand Kaviarasar's "dheerka dharishinam". In real life Rajni became an admirer of Kannadhasan after this incident. He even went to Kannadhasan's house to hand deliver the invitation to his wife for his wedding although Kanndhasan was no more around. Such was his indebtedness to Kaviarasar. The above song along with the other song "My name is Billa" has some semblance to the lyrics. Bye for now!

Have read it :thumbsup: i have recently watched it in Vijay Tv for second time,(first time when i was 8 year old.. my mom told me padam aarambichu 30 mints-la thoongitten :p ) as you said a good revisitable film :)


.....with Rajini and the bad guy falling on them. But then, the fight gets so intense that - and I don’t think this was scripted - Rajini grabbed one of the goats and starts to beat the shit out of the bad guy.

It was unbelievable, I had to rewind to see the spectacle again. No guess on what’s for dinner for the film crew that night.

On speaking to media, He said Rana will start in January or February... He confirmed the guest role in RA one....He thanked all the fans... He was so energetic and brisker as before....

Rajini afaik didn't do anything against MGR, except giving vaazhvu to Latha, apparently which made Vadhyar incensed although latha technically wasn't under his protextion anymore, and he gave the Ramavaram thottam treatment. Rajini had been working crazy hours already and combined with this pressure, had to be hospitalized for physical and mental stress. Oru magazines ofcourse picked up that as "mental disorder". But if KB really suggested that, and if I were Rajini. Modho vElai udambu sariyAnadhum avarai dhaan pOttu thaLLi irukkaNum. AdviceAyA kudukura periya manushan? Idhelaam oru adviceA?

This is the first post of me in several months. I have not posted anything when superstar was ill. Great to hear that thalaivar is back now.

After 3 months of bed rest, Our Superstar gearing up more faster than earlier and participating in all functions… With the earlier confirmation of our superstar, the Rana Shooting will be commencing on January 2012, according to that, Director KS Ravikumar informed to all Technicians to closed their commitments before this year end.

சிங்கப்பூர் மருத்துவமனையில் இருந்து உடல்நிலை சரியாகி சென்னை திரும்பிய உடன் எந்த ஒரு முக்கிய பிரமுகரையும் சந்திக்காமல் ஒய்வு எடுத்து வந்தார் ரஜினி.

'ராணா' படப்பிடிப்பு எப்போது, யார் எல்லாம் நடிக்கிறார்கள் என்று மிகப்பெரும் குழப்பம் நீடித்து வருகிறது.

இந்நிலையில் கடந்த சில நாட்களாக ரஜினி பொது நிகழ்ச்சிகளில் கலந்து கொள்வது ரஜினி ரசிகர்களை கடும் உற்சாகத்தில் ஆழ்த்தி இருக்கிறது.

மானு ' காதல் மன்னன்' படத்தில் அஜீத்திற்கு ஜோடியாக நடித்தவர். நடனத்தின் மீது கொண்ட ஆர்வத்தால், திரைத்துறையில் தொடராமல், நடனத்தில் கவனம் செலுத்தி வருகிறார். இவர் தான் சிங்கப்பூரில் ரஜினி குடும்பத்தினரை கவனித்து கொண்டார்.

ரஜினி அடுத்ததாக பிரபல பட அதிபர் மெட்ரோ பிலிம்ஸ் ஜெயக்குமார் இல்லத் திருமண விழாவில் கலந்து கொண்டு மணமக்களை வாழ்த்தினார்.

The producer and director team will remain intact--KS Ravikumar, Soundarya Rajinikanth and Eros! Rana will be his next project after that.

KS Ravikumaar will do th story, screenplan and direction for Kochadaiyaan.

The work on Kochadaiyaan is said to be progressing fast and they are aiming at an August 2012 release! #Rajinikanth next

Before working on the eagerly anticipated movie ‘Rana’, Superstar Rajinikanth will work onIndia’s first hi-tech 3D movie ‘Kochadaiyaan’.

Soundarya Rajinikanth announced the news on Twitter. She wrote, “THE ANNOUNCEMENT- Appa's next, Kochadaiyyan. Thrilled, Grateful n excited to be directing my father, THE RAJINIKANTH (thaliavaaaaaaaaa).”

This will be the first movie in India to use performance capturing technology that was previously used in movies like ‘Avatar’ by James Cameron and The Adventures of Tin Tin by Steven Spielberg.

The movie will be directed by Rajini's daughter Soundarya Ashwin, who has earlier made animated ‘Sultan’ with her father. KS Ravikumar, who is the director of ‘Rana’, has written the story, screenplay, dialogue for the movie. He will also be the supervising director of the film.

The movie is being produced by Eros International and Media One Global Entertainment Limited.

The makers are planning to release this movie in August 2012.

However, Rajinikanth's delayed project Rana will restart the shooting after the completion of Kochadaiyaan. Other details are under wraps.

blu ray capacity offers the option for the film distributors to pack other goodies like the director's footnotes, interviews of actors and technicians all in the same disc. This means watching a classic like Godfather or Untouchables is all the more "educational" - So quality of picture could be potentially compensated by the quality of "information" that goes along..

My problem was quality of the originals from the old cameras. However hard you may try you may not get current 1080p resolution.

In my view this is an old theory.. Suited to Rajni / Kamal kind of stars who are acting for 2 or 3 decades. When they were building their fan base they were very much accessible... The current generation of fans(even actors) think the other way.. Fans want to know some details regarding their stars on a regular basis.. Otherwise they are not following that star.

My view was related to their accessibility on the whole, not particular to Twitter... Amitji was a superstar 2 /3 decades ago.. we need to compare the Amitabh of 80's with R & K.. Rightly said. Information about R/K need not to come through themself.....Fans do not wait for R/K to provide info on day to day basis.... fans are still hungry and search the news....I am not sure this would be the case in Bollywood....it is one of the major differences between R/K and other bollywood stars. Since R/K do not divulge themself in such activities, so media started to work overtime. At the end, someone has to feed fans.

அதுமட்டுமல்ல, இந்த கோச்சடையானுக்காக ரஜினி அதிகபட்சமாக பத்தே நாட்கள்தான் ஒதுக்கப் போகிறாராம். இப்படத்தை முடித்துக் கொடுத்துவிட்டு ஷங்கர் படத்திற்காக தன்னை தயார் படுத்திக் கொள்ள திட்டமிட்டிருக்கிறார் ரஜினி என்கிறது சில தகவல்கள்.

இந்த புதிய படத்திற்கு ஏ.ஆர்.ரஹ்மான்தான் இசையமைக்கிறார். அவரிடமும் பேசி கதை சுருக்கத்தை சொல்லியிருக்கிறாராம் ஷங்கர்.

Rajinikanth is many things, but above all, real. In his interviews, he neither plays the lofty thespian a la Amitabh Bachchan nor the super-cool kid like Shah Rukh Khan. AFP

Everyone’s favourite Thalaivar turns 62 today. The big occasion is always a cause of great excitement for his fans, though this time around, they have a more ambitious plan: “Everything we do for him has to be big. Next year’s birthday (12-12-12) will be a landmark day in the history of the universe and by this time, we will have managed to have his birthday declared officially as World Style Day.”

Now, I’m not a big fan of Rajinikanth, mostly because I’m too old and jaded to idolise movie stars. But there’s something about him that inspires affection in all of us, and it has little to do with his famous style. Here then is my very own birthday present to the man: five entirely personal reasons why Rajini rocks!

One, Rajinikanth never, ever tries to sell me anything. Not designer suits, whitening cream, Pepsi, or a bottle of Zandu balm. Namma Rajini knows that demi-gods don’t sell toothpaste.

Despite the fancy title – ie “brand ambassadors” – most of our actors are no better than loud, relentless street hawkers, pushing their wares in our faces all the time. “Everyone just wants to make money. It’s plain greed. Most Indian brand ambassadors look at it as a business, a short term thing,” says Anirban Blah of Kwan Entertainment. In Bollywood, star status is now entirely about the moolah. Never mind that Ra.One is a dud, SRK remains the Bollywood’s marketing king for his ability to sell everything from Emami to Dish TV (even as he makes big bucks for shaking a leg at society weddings in between).

Fans tie a sweet lemon garland onto a cut out of Tamil film actor Rajinikanth.
Yet no Bollywood star can match Rajini’s ability to evoke giddy excitement by his mere presence, be it on or off the screen. At a time when stars have been reduced to brands, and success is defined by multi-crore endorsement deals, Rajini is a refreshing reminder of the difference between material success and celestial status.

Two, he is a man of few words. Rajinikanth rarely gives interviews, and when he does, almost never says very much. His laconic charm offers a soothing contrast to the rest of our movie stars who just can’t seem to shut up. Did we really need to know about Shah Rukh’s struggle with loneliness? The seemingly intimate confession that would have been moving, except it was proffered on the eve of Ra.One‘s release.

So in love are they with their own words that actors feel the need to broadcast every half-witted opinion or passing emotion to a national audience — even as they complain about the big, bad media. Amitabh Bachchan was furious at the publicity scrum prompted by Baby B’s imminent arrival, but continually blogged, tweeted about the his grandkid, often beating his own son to the punch.

The contrast between the two celluloid giants was unmistakable back in 2010: where Big B was busy raving about Aishwarya’s “smashing” looks and dancing “like a dream” in Robot, Rajini —when harangued by a TV reporter on the experience of romancing his friend’s bahu — merely said, “She’s very nice.”

As always, less is a whole lot more when it comes to preserving one’s dignity.

Three, I rarely see his face. Even the prettiest mug – and, yes, I’m talking about you, Mr Roshan, Ms Rai-Bachchan and Ms Kareena Kapoor – loses its charm when it follows us around like a stray dog. Except stray dogs look less smug. At the paan shop, on the billboard, in every other TV advertisement, magazine, or newspaper, there s/he is: staring back at us with that super-plastic, super star smile. Why would we look forward to seeing any actor in the theatre if we’re already sick of seeing them in real life.

Rajini, on the other hand, looks so entirely different in his infrequent off-screen appearances, his audience is all the more excited to see his on-screen avatar. In a superstar, ubiquity is overrated; mystique is all.

Four, there’s nothing sexier than the simple life, and the man who lives it. The sight of Rajinikanth in a cotton kurta-pajama getting out of his Ambassador car is nothing short of a miracle in this age of celebrity excess. Starlets can’t wait to be photographed with the latest Birkin bag or Jimmy Choo shoes. The men flaunt their over-priced watches and cars instead. The worst offender is, yet again, SRK whose preening wealth was on nauseating display in Living With a Superstar, a television series dedicated to documenting his fabulous life.

Designer Rina Dhaka said recently said of Rajini, “He does not have to wear expensive brands because brand Rajini is worth more than clothes or accessories.” Or more likely, it’s because Rajini has never positioned himself as a “brand.” This perhaps explains why many others don’t inspire a fraction of the affection that Rajini evokes in his fans. We may admire our stars because they’re rich, but we truly love them when they’re unassuming and polite.

And five, Rajinikanth is many things, but above all, real. In his interviews, he neither plays the lofty thespian a la Amitabh Bachchan nor the super-cool kid like Shah Rukh Khan. Like the best of his kind, he reserves his acting for the movie cameras. And he never looks like he’s trying too hard. The most wonderful thing about Rajini is that he just is.

Rajinikanth is busy with two films, “Kochadaiyan” and another untitled one to be directed by Shankar. He was to have started the shoot for “Rana”, but the plan changed because of his health problems. “Kochadaiyan” has more of digital and special effects and he has given a one-month call sheet for it. The shooting for the film may start after Pongal. The film by Shankar that follows is awaiting an official announcement. “Rana” might therefore have to wait for some more time.

Rajinikanth is busy with two films, “Kochadaiyan” and another untitled one to be directed by Shankar. He was to have started the shoot for “Rana”, but the plan changed because of his health problems. “Kochadaiyan” has more of digital and special effects and he has given a one-month call sheet for it. The shooting for the film may start after Pongal. The film by Shankar that follows is awaiting an official announcement. “Rana” might therefore have to wait for some more time.

ஜனவரி 15-ந் தேதிக்கு மேல் ‘கோச்சடையான்’ படப்பிடிப்பை தொடங்க இருக்கிறோம். மார்ச் மாதத்துக்குள் படப்பிடிப்பை முடித்து விடுவோம்.

அதன்பிறகு, நான் ஒரு இந்தி படத்தை இயக்குகிறேன். அந்த படத்தில், சஞ்சய்தத் கதாநாயகனாக நடிக்கிறார். இந்தி படம் முடிவடைந்த பின், ரஜினி நடிக்க ‘ராணா’ படத்தை இயக்குவேன்,” என்று கூறியுள்ளார்.

Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth may soon star together in a film that is to be directed by Shankar. Kamal had said in a function recently that he may share the screen space with his buddy Rajinikanth. This gives rise to the speculation that Rajini and Kamal may join hands and the day is not far off!
Director Shankar apparently has a script ready for the duo and an announcement will most probably be made on January 14, 2012.
Since Kochadaiyaan is to be made on the ‘Performance Capturing’ technology, Rajini’s call sheet will be required for just about 20 days. After this shooting schedule is done with, Shankar is expected to begin his project.
