Just a couple of days back it was said that Bollywood diva Katrina Kaif was approached by the 'Kochadaiyaan' makers to play the female lead. The latest is that the matinee idol plays a King who is an ardent devotee of Lord Shiva and Rajini will be seen in a different get up with long tresses.

'Kochadaiyaan' means a king with long hair and Rajini will be seen in a never-seen-before avatar in this film with really long hair.

While Katrina Kaif is reworking her dates to somehow fit in the film, it is said songs featuring Rajini wooing Katrina will spell class and grandeur. A love song between the duo is one of the highlights.

Rahman will be bringing 130 musicians from Germany to record the background score of the film and he has already tuned in most of the tracks for the film.

The first look of 'Kochadaiyaan' is expected by the end of January 2012.

I don't think Soundarya had to direct anything for Ra One. The image of superstar from endhiran was super imposed into Ra One I believe. Ra One movie as a whole was pathetic. SRK is better off kidnapping lover from her marriage rather than acting in Science Fiction.

No joke this! Rajnikanth website really runs without internet


It may sound like another Rajinikanth joke, but a new website dedicated to the superstar runs 'without an internet connection'!

Visitors to www.allaboutrajni.com are greeted with a warning that "He is no ordinary man, this is no ordinary website. It runs on Rajini Power" and are advised to switch off their internet connection to enter the website.

Only when the web is disconnected, one is allowed to explore the site.

Netizens can trace the story of the legend from the beginning, read inside scoops from his films and get a glimpse of behind-the-scenes action, while browsing through famous Rajini jokes about impossible feats only he can achieve.

"The unbelievable spectacle of running a website without the internet is a tribute to Rajinikant's larger than life image," claimed Webchutney's creative director Gurbaksh Singh, who developed the site for Desimartini.com.

With a heady mix of foot-tapping music, vibrant splash of colours, quirky quotes and illustrations, and icons in true Rajni style and lingo, the unique website reflects Rajini's signature style.

Singh told PTI that the website is based on a complex algorithm running in the back-end that keeps an eye on the propagation of data packets between two terminals.

Magic kicks in soon as the internet speed is down to zero, which is the basic premise on which the site and the concept has been constructed.

The humour element on the website is accentuated by the error message in typical Rajini style that appears if a visitor attempts to re-connect the internet.

"Aiyyo! That was unexpected. To keep browsing, switch off your internet," reads the message.

"The website has received a phenomenal response and has gone viral with several thousand hits and counting, along with innumerable shares and mentions across the web, especially on popular social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter," Singh said.

"After a few iterations and testing, we cracked the code required to build the world's first website that runs without the internet - a website that runs offline - which is as awesome and unbelievable as miracles and stunts associated or performed by Rajni himself," he said.

it shud be simple! when u visit the url for 1st time, the contents are loaded and some background script shud keep 'talking' with the website continuously, and while this continues, the contents are not shown. once the communication stops, the loaded script assumes there is no connection and exposes the content.

not an flash expert! btw, once can also see the content by 'cheating'. for example, one after loading the website, instead of disconnecting the web, tell the browser to block the url, so that no more communication happens and the script will 'think' the connection is lost and will expose the hidden content

'அரசியலுக்கு வா தலைவா!’ என அலறி ஓய்ந்துவிட்டன ரசிக ஸ்பீக்கர்கள். இரண்டு மகள்களுக்கு அப்பாவாக, தன் கடமைகளை முடித்துவிட்டார் ரஜினி தாத்தா. உடல்நிலை மோசமாகி சிகிச்சைக்கு சிங்கப்பூர் வரை போய்த் திரும்பிய ரஜினிக்கு, அவரே சொன்னது போல இது மறுபிறவிதான்.

இந்த 'ரஜினி சீஸன் - டூ’வில், எல்லாத் திசைகளிலும் அவர் முன்பு காத்திருக்கின்றன புதிய கேள்விகளும் புதிய பணிகளும். சினிமா, அரசியல், சமூகம்... என எல்லாத் தளங்களிலும் இனி என்ன செய்ய வேண்டும் ரஜினி?

அரசியலுக்கு வருவது என்று தீர்மானித்தால், மூன்று விதமான கேள்விகள் அவர் முன் மூர்க்க மாக வந்து முகம் காட்டும் என்பதை அவர் அறிவார். ஓர் அரசியல் கட்சியின் வெற்றி, எதிரியைத் தீர்மானிப்பதில் இருக்கிறது. ரஜினிகாந்தின் எதிரி யார்? 'யார் நண்பன்... யார் எதிரி’என்பதை எந்த அளவுகோல்கொண்டு தீர்மானிப்பது? இது ரஜினிகாந்த் முன் நிற்கும் முதல் கேள்வி. தமிழ்நாட்டு அரசியல் வானத்தில் ரஜினிகாந்துக்கான வெற்றிட வெளி இருக்கிறதா? இது இரண்டாம் கேள்வி. திராவிடக் கட்சிகளை நம்பித்தான் தமிழ்நாட்டில் தேசியக் கட்சிகளே இயங்குகின்றன. அதைத் தாண்டிய மாற்று அரசியலைக் கொடுப்பதற்கு ரஜினிகாந்தின் நேர்மைமட்டும் போதுமா? அல்லது அவரது நேர்மையே தடை யாக இருக்குமா? கறுப்புப் பணம் இல்லாமல் இன்று எந்தத் தேர்தலையும் எந்தக் கட்சியாவது சந்திக்க முடியுமா? (பிரசாரத்துக்கு ஓர் அரசியல் கட்சி கொடுப்பதாகச் சொன்ன பெரும் பணத்தைத் தவிர்த்தவர் அவர் என்பதை இந்த நேரத்தில் நினைவுகூர்கிறேன்) 'சம்பாதிக்காதவன் அரசியலில் வாழ முடியாது; சம்பாதிக்க விடாதவன் ஆள முடியாது’ என்ற அழுகிப்போன சித்தாந்தத்துக்கு ரஜினிகாந்தின் நல்ல நெஞ்சம் பழகிப்போகுமா? மூன்றாவது முக்கியமான கேள்வி - ஒருவேளை முதலமைச்சர் ஆகிவிட்டால், என்ன செய்வது? குப்பைகளை அகற்றுவதற்கு டெண்டர்களை மாற்றுவது போல, எல்லா முதலமைச்சர்களும் இந்தியாவில் மற்றும் ஒரு டெண்டராகிவிடுகிறார்கள். அரசாங்கம் என்றமக்கள் முதலீட்டு நிறுவனத்தில் வரவு -செலவு பார்க்கும் கணக்குப் பிள்ளையாகவே கழிந்துபோகிறார்கள். 'லட்சியங்களின் கூட்டம் என்பது போய் எண்களின் தர்மம்’ என்றாகிவிட்ட இன்றைய அரசியலில், பதவியைக் காப்பாற்றிக் கொள்ளும் போராட்டத்தில், நாடு கடைசி முன்னுரிமைக்குத் தள்ளப் படுகிறது. சுதந்திர இந்தியாவில் எந்த முதலமைச்சரும் முன்னெடுத்து வைக் காத புதிய லட்சியம் - புதிய திட்டம் ஒன்றை சமரசம் இல்லாமல் முன் வைக்க முடியுமா?
இத்தனைக் கேள்விகளும் ஒரு சராசரிக் குடிமகனான எனக்கே தோன்றுகிறதே, ரஜினிகாந்துக்குத் தோன்றாதா? தோன்றி இருக்கக்கூடும். இதற்கான விடைகளை தயாரித்து இருந்தால், அவர் வெற்றிகரமான தலைவராக வெளியேறலாம்; இல்லை என்றால் சினிமா பிம்பங்களால் தயாரிக்கப்பட்ட தமிழ்நாட்டு உடல் அரசியலில் அவரும் ஓர் எண்ணிக்கையாக இடம்பெறலாம்.

''தமிழகத்தின் திரைப்பட வரலாற்றில் எம்.ஜி.ஆருக்குப் பிறகு மக்கள் மனதில் மிக அதிகமாக இடம்பிடித்தவர் ரஜினிகாந்த். சாதாரண கண்டக்டராக இருந்த ஒருவரை புகழின் உச்சியில் கொண்டுபோய் நிறுத்தியது தமிழகம். அவரை முதலமைச்சர் நாற்காலியில் உட்காரவைக்கவும் கணிசமான ரசிகர்கள் கூட்டம் காத்திருந்தது. அந்த அளவுக்கு ரஜினிகாந்த் என்கிற தனி மனிதனுக்குத் தமிழகம் செய்தது ஏராளம். கைமாறாக இந்தத் தமிழ்நாட்டுக்கு ரஜினிகாந்த் ஆற்றப்போகிற காரியம் என்ன என்பது என் நெடுநாளைய கேள்வி.

கர்நாடக மாநிலத்தில் பல தொழில்களில் ரஜினி முதலீடு செய்து இருப்பதாகச் சொல்கிறார்கள். ஓர் இந்தியர் என்கிற உணர்வில் அந்த செயலைத் தவறு என்று சொல்லவில்லை. ஆனால், கர்நாடகம் அவரை ஒரு கண்டக்டராகவே வைத்து இருந்தது. தமிழகம்தான் அவரை வாழவைத்தது. எம்.ஜி.ஆர். உடல் நலமற்று மருத்துவமனையில் இருந்தபோது எந்த அளவுக்குத் தமிழகம் தவித்ததோ... தத்தளித்ததோ... அதே போன்று, சமீபத்தில் ரஜினி உடல் நலிவுற்றபோது ஆயிரமாயிரம் இளைஞர் கள் இதயம் வலிக்க இறைவனைப் பிரார்த்தனை செய்தனர். இதோ இதே தமிழகத்தில் இன்றுகடலூர், நாகை எனத் தொழில் வளமற்ற மாவட்டங்களை பாழ் குழிக்குள் தள்ளிவிட்டுப் போய் இருக்கிறது 'தானே’ புயல். இன்று அங்கே பலா மரங்களைப் பறிகொடுத்து, முந்திரிக் காடுகளைத் தொலைத்து, வாழ்வாதாரம் இழந்து, விழி நீர் சுமந்து வீதிகளில் நிர்கதியாக நிற்கின்றனர் மக்கள். இதில் இருந்து மீள அவர்களுக்கு 20 ஆண்டுகள் ஆகிவிடும். மாநில அரசு மட்டும் மக்களின் ஏழ்மையை முற்றிலும் அகற்றிவிட முடியாது. அதற்கு நல்லோர்களும் முன்வர வேண்டும். பாதிக்கப்பட்டவர்களின் குறைந்தபட்ச வாழ்வாதாரத்துக்கு வழி காட்டும் வகையில், ரஜினி தான் திரட்டி வைத்து இருக்கும் செல்வத்தில் ஒருபங்கைத் தர முன்வர வேண்டும். அந்த மண்ணுக்கு ஏற்ற தொழில்களை அங்கே தொடங்கி, அந்த மக்களின் வாழ்க்கை வளர்ச்சிக்கு துணை நிற்க வேண்டும். அங்கு வசிக்கிற மக்களுக்கு வேலை வாய்ப்பை உருவாக்கி அவர்களின் கண்ணீரை நிரந்தரமாக துடைக்க முன்வருவதே ரஜினியின் முதல் பணியாக இருக்க வேண்டும். இந்த மாதிரியான சமூகப் பணிகள்தான் ரஜினியை தமிழ் மக்களின் நினைவுகளில் என்றென்றும் வைத்திருக்கும். செய்வீர்களா ரஜினி..?''

''நண்பர் ரஜினிகாந்த் அனைவருக்கும் பொதுவானவர். அவருக்கு அரசியல் சரிப்பட்டு வராது. அவர் எந்த ஒரு குறிப் பிட்ட அரசியல் கட்சியுடனும் நெருக்கமாக இருப்பதைத் தவிர்க்க வேண்டும். மூப்ப னார் அவர்கள் தனிக் கட்சி தொடங்கிய அன்றே ரஜினியும் நேரடி அரசியலில் களம் இறங்கி இருந்தால், இந்நேரம் அவர் அரசியலில் சாதனைகளை நிகழ்த்தி இருக்கலாம். ஆனால், இன்று தமிழக அரசியல் சூழல், ரஜினியின் சூழல் இரண் டுமே மாறி உள்ளன. அதனால் அவருக்கு அரசியல் களம் தோதா னது அல்ல.
இந்த விஷயத்தில் அமிதாப்-ரஜினி இரண்டு பேரையும் நான் ஒரே தராசில்வைத்துப் பார்க்கி றேன். அமிதாப் அரசிய லுக்குச் சென்று, பிறகு அது தனக்கு சரிபட்டு வராது என்பதை உணர்ந்து, மீண்டும் சினிமாவுக்குத் திரும்பியவர். அந்த வகையில் இதுநாள் வரை அரசியலைத் தவிர்க்கும் ரஜினியை, 'கொடுத்துவைத்த வர்’ என்றே சொல்ல வேண்டும். இவர் அமிதாப்பைப் போல நல்ல கதாபாத்திரங் களை தேர்வு செய்து நடிக்க வேண்டும். இன்னும் பல உயரங்களை தொட வாழ்த்துக்கள் ரஜினி!''

நேற்று என் ஃப்ரென்ட் ஒருத்தரு எனக்கு ஃபோன் பண்ணி “என்ன ரஜினி, காலம் ரொம்ப கேட்டுப் போச்சி. போய் பேசுறதுக்கு அளவேயில்லாம போச்சு. பொய் பேசுறது மட்டும் இல்லாம அதை போஸ்டர் வேற அடிச்சி ஓட்டுறாங்க” அப்படினார். நான் உடனே என்ன சமாச்சாரம்னு கேட்டேன். “அதில்லே… யாரோ எழுத்தாளருக்கு பாராட்டாம். அதுல நீங்க கலந்துக்குறீங்களாம். ஒரு போஸ்டர்ல பார்த்தேன்.” நான் “ஆமாம் கலந்துக்குறேன். அது உண்மைதான்.” அப்படின்னு சொன்னேன். அவருக்கு ஆச்சரியம். ஏன், எனக்கே ஆச்சரியம் தான். ஒரு எழுத்தாளனுக்கு, என் நண்பருக்கு, ஒரு மொழியை முற்றிலுமாக தெரிந்த ஒரு படைப்பாளிக்கு நடக்கும் பாராட்டு விழாவில் நான் வந்து கலந்து கொண்டு பாராட்டுவதை நினைக்கும்போது, சந்தோஷம், ஆச்சரியம் அதே நேரம் பயமும் கூட… ஏன்னா இதுவரைக்கும் நான் கலந்துகிட்ட நிகழ்ச்சிகள், பேசிய சபைகள் எல்லாம் வேற. ராமாகிருஷ்ணன் சார் சொன்னாங்க, பெரிய பெரிய தமிழறிஞர்கள், எழுத்தாளர்கள் மற்றும் மீடியாவுல இருந்து பெரிய பெரிய ஆளுங்க எல்லாம் வந்திருக்காங்க அப்படின்னு சொன்னார். இப்படி அறிஞர்கள் பலர் வந்திருக்கும் இந்த சபையில் நான் என்ன பேசப்போகிறேன் என்று ஒரு கணம் யோசித்தேன். ஒன்றும் புரியவில்லை.
எனக்கு ஒரு பெரிய வீக்னஸ் இருக்கு. கர்ணனுக்கு பரசுராமர் கொடுத்த சாபம் மாதிரி. கர்ணன், தான் பிராம்மணன் என்று சொல்லி வித்தை கற்றுக்கொண்ட பிறகு, அவர் உண்மையில் சத்ரியன் பிராம்மணன் அல்ல என்று தெரிந்தவுடன் அவனுக்கு “நெருக்கடியான நிலை வரும்போது நீ கற்றுக் கொண்ட வித்தை எல்லாம் மறந்து போகும்” என்று சாபம் கொடுத்து விடுவார். அதுபோல ஒரு சாபில், ஒரு மீட்டிங்க்ல மைக் முன்னாள் நின்னா எனக்கு தெரிஞ்ச தமிழ் வார்த்தைகள் கூட மறந்துடுது. யாரோ முக்கியமான நேரத்துல உனக்கு பேச முடியாது போகணும் என்று சாபம் கொடுத்துட்டாங்களோன்னு தான் எனக்கு தோணுது. இப்போது வாழ்த்தி பேச வேண்டும் என்ற நேரத்தில் எந்த மொழியிலும் பேச முடியவில்லை. பல மொழிகள் தெரியும். ஆனா எதுவும் சரியா தெரியாது. ரொம்ப குழப்பமாயிடும். இது, தெலுங்கா, கன்னடமா, தமிழா ஒன்னும் புரியாது. சரி… இங்க்லீஷ்ல அடிச்சிவிட்டுடலாம்னு சொன்னா, அதுலயும் நாம வீக் தான். (சிரிக்கிறார்). So, இங்கே பேசுறவங்களுக்கெல்லாம் சரளமா பேச வரும். ஏதாவது பேச நினைக்கும்போது, மொழி என்பது பிளஸ்ஸாக இருக்கும். ஆனா, அதுவே நமக்கு மைனஸ் மாதிரி. பேச நினைக்கிறது பேச வராது.

அப்போ தான் சொன்னார், அவருக்கு இப்படி ஒரு விருது கிடைத்திருப்பதாக. “இவ்ளோ பெரிய விருது கிடைச்சிருக்கே… அது யாருக்குமே தெரியலியே…? அது எப்படி தெரியாம போச்சு…விழாலாம் எதுவும் பண்ணலியா?”ன்னு கேட்டேன். “அதெல்லாம் இல்லே… நீங்க வந்தா செய்யலாம்” அப்படின்னு சொன்னார். “நான் வர்ரேன்”ன்னு சொன்னே. அப்படித் தான் இந்த விழா முடிவு செய்யப்பட்டது. (பலத்த கைதட்டல்!)


இந்த விழாவுல கலந்துக்கிறது எனக்கு ரொம்ப சந்தோஷம். ராமகிருஷ்ணன் சாரை 10 ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன்பு, 2002ம் ஆண்டு நடந்த ‘பாபா’ படம் தொடர்பாக அவரை சந்தித்து பேசினேன். ‘பாபா’ படத்துக்கு நான்தான் கதாசிரியர். அந்த படத்துக்காக சொர்க்கத்தை நான் விசுவலைஸ் பண்ண வேண்டியிருந்தது. நரகத்தை சுலபமா விசுவலைஸ் பண்ணலாம். சொர்கத்தை அப்படி பண்ண முடியாது. So, அவரிடம் நான் பேசியபோது நான் காணாத, கேக்காத, அறியாத பல விஷயங்களை கூறினார். அந்த படம் முதல் ‘சந்திரமுகி’ படம் வரை மறக்க முடியாத காலம். துன்பம் வரும்போதுதான் மனிதனுக்கு யோசிக்கும் சக்தியே வருகிறது.
அந்த படத்தில் இருந்த சில காட்சிகளை புத்தகமாக வெளியிட முடிவு செய்து ராமகிருஷ்ணனிடம் பேசினேன். எனக்கு தமிழ் எழுத தெரியாது, ஆங்கிலம் அவ்வளவாக வராது, தெலுங்கு மறந்துவிட்டது. எனவே, இவரிடம் எழுதி கேட்டேன். அவரும் ஒப்புக் கொண்டார். 10 முதல் 12 நாட்களுக்கு பிறகு என்னிடம் புத்தகத்தை கொண்டு வந்தார். அதை படித்து பார்த்து மிகவும் மகிழ்ச்சி அடைந்தேன். இருந்தாலும், அந்த புத்தகத்தில் உண்மைகள் இருந்ததால், அது பலரை நோகடிக்கும் என்று வெளியிடவில்லை.
இப்படி குடும்பத்தை பற்றி எந்த கவலையும் இல்லாமல் படிப்பு, எழுத்து என்று சென்று கொண்டே இருக்கிறார். ஒரு வயது குழந்தைபோல் வாழ்க்கையின் ஒவ்வொரு நிகழ்வையும் ரசிக்கிறார். ஏராளமான புத்தங்களை படித்திருக்கிறார். அனுபவங்களுக்காக பயணம் செய்து கொண்டே இருக்கிறார்.
சமீபத்தில் நான் படித்த புத்தகத்தில் இருந்த கதை. ஒரு தனி விமானத்தில் விஞ்ஞானிகள் பயணம் செய்து கொண்டு இருக்கிறார்கள். அப்போது ஒருவர் மட்டும் பைபிளை படித்துக் கொண்டு இருந்தார். அவரைப் பார்த்து மற்றொரு விஞ்ஞானி, இப்போது உள்ள அறிவியல் உலகத்தில் கடவுள், பைபிள் என்று படித்துக் கொண்டு இருக்கிறீரே? என்று கேட்டு விட்டு, தனது முகவரியை கொடுத்து, இனியாவது கடவுளை தூக்கிப் போட்டு விட்டு, என்னை வந்து சந்தியுங்கள் என்று கூறிவிட்டு சென்றார்.
விமானம் தரை இறங்கியவுடன் மீண்டும் அவரை சந்தித்த விஞ்ஞானி உங்கள் முகவரியை கொடுங்கள் நான் முடிந்தால் வந்து பார்க்கிறேன் என்றார். அவர் தனது விசிட்டிங் கார்டை கொடுத்தார் அதில் தாமஸ் ஆல்வா எடிசன் என்று இருந்தது. உடனே அவரிடம் மன்னிப்பு கேட்டதுடன், அவரை தனியாக வீட்டில் சந்திக்க நாளையும் பெற்றுக் கொண்டு சென்றார்.
குறிப்பிட்ட நாளில் அந்த விஞ்ஞானி தாமஸ் ஆல்வா எடிசன் வீட்டுக்கு சென்றார். அங்கு ஏராளமான கண்டுபிடிப்புகள் இருந்தன. அவற்றை பார்த்து நீங்கள்தானே இதை செய்தது என்று கேட்டார். அதற்கு அவர் இல்லை நான் ஒரு நாள் வெளியில் சென்றுவிட்டு, மீண்டும் வந்து வீட்டு கததை திறந்தபோது இதெல்லாம் இருந்தது என்றார்.
என்ன சார் ஜோக் பண்றீங்க? நான் சீரியஸா கேட்க்கிறேன். எப்படி வந்துச்சு இதெல்லாம் என்று அவர் திரும்ப கேட்க்க, “பிரபஞ்சம், பால்வெளி உள்ளிட்ட ஆண்ட சாராசரங்கே தானாக உருவாகும்போது இந்த சாதாரண அறிவியில் கண்டுபிடிப்புக்கள் உருவாகாதா? என்று எடிசன் திரும்ப கேட்க்கிறார்…. படைப்பு இருந்தால் கண்டிப்பாக படைப்பாளியும் இருப்பார் என்று எடிசன் இதன் மூலம் புரியவைத்தார். So, ஆண்டவன் இருக்கிறான். If there is creation, there should be a creator. இது கதையாக நினைக்க வேண்டாம் விஞ்ஞானி கூறியதை சிந்தித்து பார்க்க வேண்டும். படைப்பு என்று ஒன்று இருந்தால் அதை படைத்த படைப்பாளியும் கண்டிப்பாக இருப்பார். எனவே கடவுள் இருப்பது உண்மை. கடவுள் இருக்கிறார் என்பதை கூற இந்த கதை ஓட்டம் பயன்படுத்தப்பட்டு உள்ளது.

இதுபோல் தான் சொல்ல வரும் கருத்தை சரியான கதை ஓடுகளத்தில் கூறுபவர் ராமகிருஷ்ணன். கவிஞர் கண்ணதாசன் நாத்திகராக இருந்தபோது, கம்பராமாயணத்தை எரிக்க முயன்றார். அப்போது எரிக்க போகும் முன்பு இதை படித்து விட்டு எரிக்கலாம் என்று முடிவு செய்து கம்பராமாயணத்தை படித்தார். பின்னர் அவர் அந்த புத்தகத்தை வைக்கவே இல்லை. முழுவதுமாக படித்து முடித்துவிட்டு அதன் முன்பு விழுந்து வணங்கினார். நாத்திகராக இருந்த கண்ணதாசன் ஆத்திகராக மாறினார்.
எழுத்துக்கு, வார்த்தைக்கு அவ்வளவு சக்தி உள்ளது. படைப்புகளுக்கே இவ்வளவு சக்தி என்றால், படைப்பாளிகளுக்கு எவ்வளவு சக்தி இருக்கும். நாம் படைப்பாளிகளை நன்றாக வைத்திருந்தால், அவர்கள் பல நல்ல படைப்புகளை தந்து கொண்டே இருப்பார்கள். ராமகிருஷ்ணன் மேலும் பல சாதனைகளை படைக்க வாழ்த்துகிறேன்.
இவ்வாறு சூப்பர் ஸ்டார் ரஜினிகாந்த் கூறினார்.

Kamal never gave so much importance to style as he did for Indian Thaththa. Kamal always relied to body language and voice modulation for various roles. But in Indian thaththa there was more than that. There was no wonder that Shankar had Rajini in his mind when he wrote the role for Indian thaththa.
Rajini would have definitely done much different that what Kamal had to offer. Because they are totally two different actors but Rajini would have done justice also to that role with more style. Kamal had subtle style but Rajini would have made that part more obvious I think.

this is what i don't like in shankar. Manushan ivLo senjum innum thundu, style intha levella thaan yosikkuraaru! If you take style the whole thatha role is filled with style and mannerisms. Something like what Nandu does in Aalavanthaan. for ex, even that vaaikkarisi scene, initial murder scene in the Ribbon building, some mannerisms during the TV interview talk, Avlo yen, the whole varmakkalai itself appears as a style.


When kamal takes up a role, he will make sure he adds some elements which are so him. The dialogs "sathyam theatrela schindler's list nnu oru padam oduthu, arumayaana padam aaLe irukkaathu", "nammaLa suthi irukkura ulagam nammaLa overtake pannittu engeyo poyitrukku", "antha draatcha pazha joke onnu irukku", "antha naaaai" " :lol: these dialogs looks so kamal'ish.

Once KSR said that tenaali is a story he prapred for Rajini. But kamal took that and made in his style with Crazy mohan dialogs(something which worked only with kamal, even Arunaachalam was crazy dialog)

Thatswhy, when Rajini says he missed Indian, actually that has lot of kamal elements with it, along with Shankar's major contribution.

But what supporting logic can one give for Chandru''s stand? I know but my point is, this kind of thing can be considered a risk element which kamal took boldly. That is all I wanted to convey. ( Though Chandru kamal will keep quoting the ground realities and almost impossibilities in getting a job being a too nermai fellow, in the end, where the kids dies, all his logic becomes pale and he looks helpless)

If made, I guess Rajini would be the older Dharmadurai-like. And yeah, the son would fail. It would be overdose in the 90s, the whole Rajini as dad and son thingy going on (Muthu, Arunachalam).

When Indian came out I was wondering why Kamal was doing a Rajini with the hair. But I felt that time that the goddam wig was all over his pancake makeup he hadda keep pushing it up and aside. I don't think Shankar is intricate enough to get Kamal to do that. Talk about retrofitting your memories....

Son dad is one simple reason to cast him. That apart, the main reason is Business. The risk attempt is the negative shade in that role but other commercial ingredients made ppl convinced and forget those things. apart, that chandru role demanded only that much na?! Its not meant for a spectacular performance at all. And I very much enjoyed the nakkals, comedy, and lou angle(limited one as its not a lou story, after all). Standards, class acts ellaam othukku vechittu paNNina commercial role athu. Worked well. I find nothing in casting him in that role. Otherwise, the movie would not have reached the commercial success what it got, inspite of the dad role being spectacular.

Indian ThAthA role was an excellent and powerful one.. That kind of role really requires either Kamal or Rajini.. Shankar did Mudhalvan with Arjun since he did not get Rajini, if he tried this thAthArole with with someone else it would have been a total failure..

It was out and out commercial venture and Kamal did complete justice for his role and definitely deserved national award for that year comparing the competition. One more thing it is not very easy to emote behind the plastic and he emoted really really well using his eyes, body languaguage and voice modulation. Indian was very important movie in Kamal's career. In north india it enjoyed great success after Ek Duje Keliye. As a matter of fact Kamal was no.1 actor in box office for three consecutive weeks in Hindi. Indian is probably one of the fewest movies in India which had commercial success across all languages and regions. Take it or not and that is the truth.

Indian is > 15 years old now. And many Kamal fans are also supportive of Indian now. Let's see how many Rajini fans here badmouth BOSS/Enthiran in another 10 years or so. Enthiran, havent seen it in a long time now :oops: But both are good movies, achieved what it set out to.

And try to watch Tappu Talanggal, may have Kannada after-taste, but performance is up there with Kali (MM).
