Some songs from this man still fresh even though they composed tens of years back. The crieteria is, the song with the help of its musical arrangements, should attract listern irrespective of the format, lyric or language, culture, etc. BTW I was listening to Agni Natchathram today.

Few orchestral beauty songs comes to my mind are

Puthia poovithu poothathu - TET
Varudhu Varudhu - TTT
Poovama Oorkolam - CT
Snow Rita - Jhony
Mella Mella - Vaazhkai
Muthaduthey - NN
Paramal Partha Nenjam - PTKK

அப்பப்பா ... & கல்யாண் ...ஜப்பானில் கல்யாணராமன் ..sax& trumpet - peppy பாலா

பூந்தளிர் ஆட ...பொன் மலர் சூட....

நீ இல்லாத போது..... beautiful prelude and orchestration throughout the song.

Unbelievable வானம் கீழே வந்தாலென்ன......

எங்கெங்கோ செல்லும் ...பட்டாக்கத்தி பைரவன் ....scintillating strings, guitar, humming

இளம் பனி துளி விழும் நேரம்........ஆராதனை has an amazing bass guitar, strings work!

I am listening to 'SINGING SKYLARKS'--பாடும் பறவைகள் ....ஸ்ரீ.இளையராஜா ALBUM while cooking dinner.
It has more stunning compositions,
ஒரு கிளியின் .....பூவிழி வாசலிலே,
ஒரு கிளி உருகுது உரிமையில்.....

How about the incredible orchestration in தேவனின் கோயில் மூடிய......அறுவடை நாள்!

ORCHESTRAL EMBELLISHMENT of ilayaraaja - list is endless!

As RS says, it is a difficult task listing such songs Sanjeevi, for almost all his songs are orchestral works as well.

I would like to ask the opposite question to fellow hubbers. Which songs of Raja do you think had minimal orchestration? I would love to hear your views on this.

A lovely list Vinatha. I was also thinking about 'pottu vaitha' and 'azhagu azhagu' as songs with minimal orchestration when I asked that question. To some extent I may add 'sollayo vai thirandu' to this list.

Punnaimaran,

'thalatu'. That reminds me. It's been a long time since I heard this lovely song. That is our problem with Raja songs. Becomes almost like the javuli kadai ad. 'ethai edupathu edai vidivathu' :)
