With Lingusamy’s ‘Paiyya’ nearing completion, sources have revealed the buzz that the film’s audio is likely to be launched on November 22. ‘Paiya’ music making its way…
IndiaGlitz [Thursday, November 19, 2009]

One can hear the rustle of Karthi-Tamannah starrer ‘Paiya’ now and then in the circles. Directed by Lingusamy, the movie is based on a road adventure, laced with paced action. ‘Paiya’ as of now is rushing towards its shooting end.

At present, the buzz is around the movie’s music which is soon going to be launched on 22nd. At this audio launch two songs and a trailer will be screened.

The music album of ‘Paiya’ has served as a platform to several budding singers. Here we have a peek into the audio list:

“Thuli Thuli Mazhaiyaai” is sung by Haricharan, Thanvi, “Poongatre Poongatre” by Benny Dayal, “Adada Mazhada” by Rahul Nambiar, Saindhavi, “Suthuthe Suthuthe Bhoomi” by Karthi, Sunitha Sarathy and finally “En Kadhal Solla” by Yuvan Shankar Raja and Thanvi.

Out of these, three songs were composed in Singapore while most of the songs have whipped out the magic of Na Muthukumar-Yuvan in their best. One will be pulled into the remarkable racy lyrics, which Na Muthukumar is said to have penned within short time span.

Interestingly, ‘Paiya’ has brought Yuvan together with the director second time after ‘Sandakozhi’ and similarly, along with Thirupathi Brothers after ‘Deepavali’.

Wait to catch the songs of ‘Paiya’ on www.raaga.com soon!

Paiya: The countdown starts
IndiaGlitz [Friday, November 20, 2009]

The clock is ticking. With less than 48 hours left for the launch of Paiya's audio, expectations are high on the film's album, as Lingusamy and Yuvan Shankar Raja are coming together after the stupendous success of 'Sandakozhi'.

"Yuvan is known for presenting contemporary music with a classic touch. He has repeated his magic in 'Paiya' and I am sure that the songs will top the charts," says Lingusamy with all hopes.

On the movie, he says, "the film is all about the protagonist (Karthi) meeting his love (Tamannah) and hate (Milind Soman) on his journey. The action packed entertainer is being made in a different way with highways and travel as the backdrop."

The music launch is scheduled at Sathyam Cinemas on Sunday. Apart from big guns of Tamil film industry, the invitation for the event has in it the names of Udhyanidhi Stalin (Red Giant Movies), Dayanidhi Alagiri (Cloud Nine Movies) and Hansraj Saxena (Sun Pictures), the three 'powerful' producers of present day Tamil cinema.

A beautiful youthful album from Yuvan! 8-)

My pick is Yuvan's "En Kadhal Solla"! I also don't complain about Yuvan's singing this time, this one is truly mesmerizing! The beats and first interlude are mindblowing!

Thuli Thuli is another great melody! I love the tune and Haricharan's singing!

The beats and percussions + Karthik's rendering are highlights of Suthudhe Suthudhe!

My order would be
1) En Kadhal Solla
2) Thuli Thuli
3) Suthudhe Suthudhe
4) Poongatre / Adada Mazhaida

Poongatre and Adada are very nice as well, but not as fresh as other songs, so the weaker ones in this album!

Vinod, yes. A part of En kadhal solla reminded me of Nee thaane... Very minimal though.... The flow sounds similar at the beginning of the 1st interlude (in both songs)...

Suthudhe bhoomi starts off ordinarily but picks up soon :cool2: Liking the 'ra ra ra raadhE, azhagiya raadhE' part... Charanam parts are good :)

Thuli thuli is the pick.... Loved the 'sel sel avaludan sel' part which is the highlight of the song :) Superb singing by Haricharan (except for his breathing at times :x ).......

A very good album barring the few 'recycles' then and there... in bits and pieces...

Songs are good. YSR keeps delivering what is expected from him, therefore the songs are neither surprising.

The only minus the sung by Yuvan. It wont match well when Karthi sings it in the movie. Yuvans voice suits more youthful actors like Dhanush, Bharath.

R. Richard Mahesh, Sampurn Media

Paiyya
Artist: Haricharan, Tanvi, Benny Dayal, Rahul Nambiar, Saindhavi, Karthik, Sunitha Sarathy, Yuvan Shankar Raja
Music Director: Yuvan Shankar Raja
Lyricist: Na Muthukumar
Label: Think Music
Genre: Regional
3 stars

Review:
Film-maker Linguswamy is well known for making films that have just the right mix of romance and action. Followed by the grand success of Sandakozhi, Linguswamy and Yuvan Shankar Raja have collaborated once more for Paiyya, and the result is a bunch of commendable tunes.
Staring Karthi, Thamannah and Milind Soman, the action-packed entertainer has highway and travel as a backdrop. Paiyya is all about the protagonist meeting his love – and object of hatred – on his journey.

The opening track is ‘Thuli Thuli’ which starts with a melodic prelude over guitar and simple beats followed by Haricharan taking off with his splendid vocals. Yuvan persistently keeps blending more fill-ins on accompaniment. Although Haricharan does a great job, Karthik could’ve been a better choice, as the song required more of a throaty voice.

Benny Dayal has to work on modulating his vocals, as the young singer keeps intonating every song in the same style. The beats of ‘Poongatre Poongatre’ are pretty similar to Harris Jayaraj’s score of ‘Oh Aayi Ye’ in Surya’s Ayan. A few lines in the song (from the line ‘Nenjodu Veesum’ onwards) sound like Sukhwinder Singh’s yesteryear album, Nasha Hi Nasha Hai.

Sure to etch its presence as this year’s chartbuster, ‘Adada Mazhaida’ showcases the perfect duet of Rahul Nambiar and Saindhavi that falls smoothly with simple beats and excellent interludes. Kudos to Yuvan for roping in the best singers for the track. However, it’s Na Muthukumar’s lyrics that stand out in this excellently laid track and make it sound splendid.

‘Sutthudhe Sutthudhe’, sung by Karthik and Sunitha Saarathy, is disappointing with its flat notes over the beginning lines. But latter verses are better with their catchy tunes. As mentioned earlier, Karthik should’ve been offered to croon the first song and Rahul Nambiar should have sung this one. Sunitha Saararthy doesn’t stand out and has no prominence in this song.

‘En Kadhal Solla’ is a mediocre song in terms of voices, but it excels with the instrumentation. Nonetheless, Yuvan’s Midas-touch may likely make it big on the music charts. Over here again, it’s a stunning show by Na Muthukumar, as he enchants us with his fascinating lyrics.

Finally, Paiyya has a couple of songs like ‘Adada’ and ‘Thuli’, which have already become a sensational hit while it would take some more time for rest of the songs to make it big. Preferably, vigorous promotions over the radio stations will surely yield best results for the songs.

[tscii:c27b77f2df]Who’s making it big in audio markets?

- R. Richard Mahesh, Sampurn Media
It’s turning out be a fest for aficionados of music, as they are treated to a slick slew of audio releases in the past couple of months. With the market bombarded with audio of Tamil films the listener has options more than one to choose from.

So, who’s making it big in the audio markets? At present, its Yuvan Shankar Raja’s Paiyya and Ilaiyaraaja’s Hindi film Paa that are selling like hot cakes.

The store manager of a leading music store in Chennai says, “Previously, A.R. Rahman’s Blue had great sales. But now, Ilaiyaraaja’s Paa and his son Yuvan Shankar Raja’s Paiyya is witnessing grand sales. Since the stocks are getting over soon, we have already ordered more than 500 copies of both the albums.”

Speaking about more releases in December, our source adds, “We are really excited, since December will have three big audio releases –Goa, Theeradha Vilayattu Pillai and A.R. Rahman’s Vinnaithandi Varuvaaya (both Tamil and Telugu). As well we’re expecting Surya’s Singam by the yearend or precisely by the first week of January.”

Paiyaa's audio, released on Think Music, the music arm of Sathyam Cinemas, is the company's 50th album in film music genre, states a press note released today. The press release also says that since the music of Paiyaa has been successful, a new track would be added to the film.

With a rapid phase of piracies and illegal downloads of Tamil music curbing the standards of audio markets, Think Music has surpassed on all arenas of offering quality music through web, radio, TV, mobile phones and so on.

Think Music now celebrates the success of his 50th album ‘Paiyya’ delivered by Yuvan Shankar Raja. Featuring Karthi and Tamanah in lead roles, the film’s audio was launched before few months and is ruling over the charts. Last evening (March 18) had the contemporaneous musical geniuses James Vasanthan, Yuvan Shankar Raja, Karthik Raja, Thaman, Dharan and happening playback singers coming together for marking this event grandiosely. The music directors shared their heart-warming regards on Think Music for rendering a great support for them in their career.

Witnessing the grand success of ‘Paiyya’ audio, Yuvan Shankar Raja has decided to score an additional track that would be concurrently launched along with film’s release somewhere during first week of release. [tscii:4bacbedfc5][/tscii:4bacbedfc5]
