He sang Panniru Thirumurai and various devotional hymns in the Odhuvar tradition. He, during his six decades of devotional pursuit propagated Tevara Isai and panniru thirumurais as his lifetime pursuit. His association with several temple renovation projects and his voluntary contribution through his music towards such noble endeavours form an endless list.
He has been an A Grade artist of AIR since 1952. The number of discs to his credit is 12 discs and 700 audiocassettes. Awards and Honours have been showered on him for his unique contribution to this sphere of devotional music.
"It would take eight years to complete Panniru Thirumurai lectures if conducted once a month, on a Sunday. Dharmapuram Swaminathan did it thrice. Once at the Hindu Theological School on behalf of Chennai Sivanadiar Thirukottam, the second event at Sengunthar Kottam Sivasubramania Swamy Temple at Saidapet and for the third time at Karaneeswarar temple at Mylapore. It was a marathon effort!"
Dharmapuram Swaminathan has attained immortality by the divine rendering of panniru thirumurai, thirupugazh and thiruartupa.
