youtube seems to be a great place to learn guitar. (Please try searching for any specifics there - demo on chords etc).

My son had formal piano lessons till gr-3 (and so reads sheet music fluently). Now, he is playing guitar reasonably fluently, simply using "youtube coaching" . Ofcourse, he hunts out the notes for whatever songs he wants to play on the search engine.

In any case, sheet music is the place to start IMO.
