‘Goa’ audio launch on Dec 23
IndiaGlitz [Thursday, November 26, 2009]

Another rib tickling funda of Venkat Prabhu is on the way so, beware of that stomach ache that follows after a hearty laugh.

Now the news - Soundarya Rajinikanth’s debut production ‘Goa’ is fast on the heels of completion and will have its audio launch in a very grand manner on December 23rd.

Following the consequent hits of Yuvan-Venkat Prabhu combo in ‘Chennai 28’, and ‘Saroja’ every single ear is eager for the tunes of ‘Goa’. We hear that the album has just 9 songs in total (Wow) which is penned by Vaali and Gangai Amaran.

Yuvan had made Illayaraja, SP Balasubramaniam, Shankar Mahadevan, Karthik Raja, Parthi Basker, Venkat Prabhu, Premji, Krish, Chitra, Suchitra, Tanvi, Mamta Mohandas, Andrea and Ajeesh to render their voices for the album. In fact this is absolutely a real big list of singer for one single album.

The audio launch of Goa is scheduled to be held at the Nandambakkam Trade Centre in Chennai on December 23rd, 2009. The film’s music has been scored by Yuvan Shankar Raja. Interestingly, a song in Goa is rendered by the film’s director Venkat Prabhu, music director Yuvan Shankar Raja, Karthik Raja, Premji and Bavatharani. It is worth a mention here that Yuvan Shankar Raja, Karthik Raja and Bavatharani are Ilayaraja’s descendants, Venkat Prabhu and Premji are Gangai Amaren’s sons. [/tscii:c576e370d1]

‘Goa’ gives a family song!
IndiaGlitz [Saturday, December 12, 2009]

The team of ‘Goa’ is already pepped up with its great audio launch plans. Having the launch function in a couple of weeks, we have got an interesting bit about Goa’s audio.

As we all know, ‘Goa’ is almost a family affair with Venkat Prabhu directing the film, having his bro Premji as one among the heroes and got Yuvan doing music for the film. They have made this even bigger by doing a song by bringing in almost the entire family - Call it a family song…

A song that goes like, “Ezhu Thalaimuraikkum” was crooned by 5 singers for Yuvan’s lively music. The song was penned by Venkat Prabhu’s dad cum Yuvan’s uncle, Gangai Amaran. Guess who are the five singers of this song? Bhavadharani, Karthik Raja,Venkat Prabhu, Premji and Yuvan.

Venkat Prabhu jokingly said that this song can be hereafter used as their family song that tells a lot about their native place and more… [/tscii:1bd4cccb94]

‘Goa’ brings back Illayaraja-SPB combo!
IndiaGlitz [Wednesday, December 23, 2009]

Venkat Prabhu’s holiday- ‘Goa’ is turning out to be a real musical treat, we say!

The album has 9 songs in it and each track is unique in its own way. The junior Maestro has brought back the combo of his Daddy dear with S P Balasubramaniam. The last time we heard them both lending their magnetic voices was for “Eduthu Naan Vidava” song from the movie ‘Pudhu Pudhu Arthangal’.

Then we have a pathos that will be a revival of typical Illayarja’s style and is sung by him as well. Same way, there will be a kind of pathos number from Yuvan’s unique voice. After that we have the family song from the Maestro’s family and that’s the film’s intro song too. The song has the voices of Bhavadharani, Karthik Raja,Venkat Prabhu, Premji and Yuvan together and is geared up to give the thump to the movie. There will be a club-remix of ‘Goa’ in addition to all the above.

So, people get ready to enjoy Yuvan’s holiday delight!

‘Goa’ audio from Jan 4
IndiaGlitz [Friday, December 25, 2009]

The peppy audio of ‘Goa’ is ready to roar into the market! Sony Music who hold the audio rights of the album are planning with Soundarya Rajinikanth to launch the audio in a satellite channel on January 4th. As we guessed earlier, our Superstar will be gracing his daughter’s production. Great news right?

What’s more? Goa’s has 9 songs and each one is unique in its own way. After consecutive hits like ‘Chennai 600028’ and ‘Saroja’, Venkat Prabhu- Yuvan Shankar Rja combo is all ready to work out the magic again. Jai, Premji Amaran, Piya, Vaibhav, Sampath and Sneha play lead roles in this already talk of the town movie.

And people don’t forget, as promised earlier we have brought to you an exciting event and a chance for you to win the cool audio CDs of ‘Goa’. Be the lucky one to receive ‘Goa’ audio CDs that has Yuvan Shankar Raja’s autograph on them by participating in this simple contest.[/tscii:f0ef7a6999]

Listened to a song in Radio 106.4 FM.

The family song "ezhezhu thala murai".

I just cannot describe the excitement :2thumbsup: Superb lyrics and tune. Folk song kind of stuff with superb flutes! Superbly rendered by Cousin brothers.

What a song. Impressed on first listen itself (something rare in my case  ).

Yes kannan. Any one who listens to this song with no idea about about the composer would believe that this is an IR song.

Yuvan has almost done it.

Pure IR song. Great that Yuvan has composed such a song and has made his siblings render it. Lovely!

Rajini launches Goa audio!

By Moviebuzz | Tuesday, 05 January , 2010, 14:00

In an anti-climax, Soundarya Rajinikanth had a soft launch of her maiden film Goa at her father superstar Rajinikanth’s residence at Poes Garden on Monday (January 4)! The audio launch took place in the evening, but the press was not invited or informed about it.

Earlier it was reported that Goa would have a big launch with a lot of fanfare at Chennai Trade Center on December 23, like the earlier audio launch of the director Venkat Prabhu’s Saroja but at the last minute it was postponed.

Rajinikanth released the audio “officially” and made it a point to talk to unit members of the film who were present on the occasion. He also hugged Yuvan Shankar Raja who was there along with director Venkat Prabhu and Sony Music team.

Goa is a spectacular album, nothing short of scintillating. Amazing album by Yuvan!

3 village tracks and 6 modern trendy songs. Especially Idhu varai and Idai vazhi are sensational numbers.

Rocking start of Yuvan!

I like 4 out of 9 songs.

My favourite has to be the bit song "Kathal Endral" such a pitty its a short song.

Idhu varai is a passionated rock ballad song, also listenable

Goa (themesong) and club mix sounds good. Already liked them when watching the trailer.

Vaaliba Vaa Vaa is a repeat of Dhostu Bada Dhostu (Saroja).

Idai vazhi could have been good but, the rhythm similar to Honey Honey from Ayan.

I dont like Yelelu Thalaimuraikkum, Adida Naayandi, Ooru Nalla Ooru this movie, very average village based songs.

my best song is still 7-7 only. its a total illayraja stuff .. the flute piece that comes in the second bgm.. wow i felt it was equivalent to one of the illayraja's peak period songs and the lyrics evertime i listen is giving me goosebumps.

idhu varai is my second pick . andrea sounds little bit like rihanna... am loving her voice... and ajeesh's too. is he the one who won the airtel super singer?? such a mesmerising song..second interlude

vaalibaa vaa peppy and different. initially didn like this song . now liking it. but somehow i feel it resembles some other tune and the interludes r very very ordinary. the best part is after chitra comes ..

this is probably first time am liking the remix mix version. am talking about the goa song. very addictive and appealing beats.. am sure its gonna rock with picturisation...

the illayaraja song is one of the best of yuvan.. very matured composition esp the flute part and bass guitar in the background

kaadhal endraal...awesome singing by yuvan....who cares if he goes off key... the feel he gives in is something no other singers can . lyrics dono how girls will react to this song.. they simply will skip it. infact the whole album i doubt they will like it... but who cares...

somehow am still not impressed with idai vizhi ... except for the first interlude whcih is out of the world

yet to listen to the spb charan song..

complete album from yuvan...whats more in store for 2010..lets stay tuned ... keep rocking yuvan....

Comments from the first hearing..

I was pleasantly suprised with the orchestration on the whole (The use of drums esp.).

The 7 Thalimurai was good, the first interlude threw me back to "what?? thats raja!!" . Good attempt, probably will be wasted as a title score.

The adida song will the heroes introdction, not bad.. not too great either.

GOA song is no great shakes, will look great with visuals, IMHO I dont think it will have the reach of a Kodana Kodi..

Idhu Varai - I was instantly hooked.. both incontent and orchestration. To put it mildly, absolutely faboulous song. I loved the lead singers and I am positive this is gonna be be among the best this year.

Strangely I enjoyed "Valibame.." more for the singers (it was pleasnt to see the legends together). The song isnt bad either, I was just overawered hearing the singers.

Like the person above, Iam not too impressed with Idai Vizhi.. it a been there done that kind of song with no great shakes.

Verdict - Ithu Varai is greater than the sum of the parts.

My picks too. Especially Idaivazhi. Really hyper! Mamtha Mohandass & Benny I think YSR must've been smoking something when he composed this. lol
This song reminded me of Thaluvuthu from Ah Aah on first listening for some reason.

Andrea is really impressive in Idhu Varai. A really soulful voice. Nice to hear Ajeesh's voice too after his SuperSinger victory. Not sure how much his voice suits this song. Only complaint about this song is it finishes quite abruptly.

I wouldn't be surprised if they come out and tell us that IR composed the folk tracks in the future.

It`s a mixed bag(May be I had too much expectations).......Some songs are stunning.....

My pick of the album is Ithu varai....What a song....I dont have much words to explain this song...Such a wonderful song... :omg: .....Ajeesh sounds good...Andrea also...

Idai vazhi..... Stunning experimentation...Brilliant orchestration and different sounds.....Excellent.... I like Mamtha voice...Such a different sexy voice....

Theme song....such a helluva number....High energetic peppy number... This should rock....

7-7......Now I feel it`s a perfect folk number....

Valiba vaa....It`s a good peppy number....SPB spoiled the song to some extent(Especially tu tu tu tu part) IMO...... it could have been better...

Kathal......Same tune as Ithu vari....Yuvan didn`t sing well....

I don`t like the IR`s pathos number and remix number....

Adida nayandi.....average number....like it in parts....Could have been better....

Absolutely a stunner album, with various genre of music.

Among three Village, IR-ish tracks, ezhezhu song is the pick followed by Adida naiyandi for the liveliness. Ooru nalla ooru is just an average track, even though it is impeccable, orchestration wise.

Coming to the urban part  of the soundtrack,

The tune of Idai vazhi isn't that appealing. However orchestration is absolutely great especially the interludes.

Title track, packed with nice interludes is too good with some youthful lyrics.

Valiba va va has an interesting fusion. The second half that goes classical is beautifully rendered by Chitra. Thanks to Yuvan for bringing the Veterans together. However, the Opportunity of making SPB-IR sing together, has not been effectively utilised in this song

Idhu Varai is outstanding with superb rendition from Andrea. Ajeesh's rendition is good though i'm not fully impressed :P (Hope Roshan doesn't come to this thread :shaking: ) A brilliant melody.

Kadhal endral which is the modified version of Idhu varai is too short to make an impact. As Inetk pointed out, it has trademark Violin and keyboard which is common in all songs rendered by Yuvan.

Overall - A stunner. Yuvan :2thumbsup:

Ajeesh sounded very tense... cant balme him given its his first song and the pressure... I still wish he could have given his best. Compared to Andrea he was miles below...

Yes. He cannot be blamed as this is his first song.

Expression isn't that good. especially during the last few lines that need to be sung very well.

Anyway, congrats to him for starting his career in a great album :2thumbsup:

ithu varai
valibava was good number!

What an orchastration in Idai vazhi song.....It's experimental and yet exceptional........Idhu varai is mesmerising to the core....

Yuvan is proving time and again.....He is churning HIT after HIT for last 10 years(Atleast)....He can compose any genre with his own identity.... His songs have longevity and raging among the mass..... He can be prolific with quality.... The MD who is working with all the TOP directors.....But He is underrated..... :x

The second interlude in Idhu Varai  The way violin fades towards the end of this interlude is truly good!

The tune of, "dhEgam, ippOdhu ularndhadhu" and the follwing lines are great

Superb song!

Idhu Varai & Vaaliba are stunners..

I was looking for who the male singer of Idhu varai was while hearing it, before looking at credits. It sounded very different & good.
As viraajan / sloshed put it, for a first song, Ajeesh has done a good job.
YS has given him the right song too & not some forgettable song - just because he was promised a song in the show!
