Amy Louise Jackson is an English film actress and model who rose to fame after winning the beauty pageant, Miss Teen World 2008. Born and brought up Knowsley, Liverpool, Jackson made her film debut in the 2010 Tamil film, Madrasapattinam, a period drama set in 1945.

Miss Teen World 2008
Jackson is from the Isle of Man and is the daughter of BBC Radio Merseyside presenter, Alan Jackson. After winning the Miss Teen Liverpool and Miss Teen Great Britain pageants, after several attempts around the country, including Leeds where she was not placed, she was crowned Miss Teen World 2008 when she was seventeen years old. She told the Liverpool Echo;

"I was completely shocked to win and so happy. I really thought I had not made the final five. But then I went on to take the title. I made lots of friends during the competition and may now be going to live in Texas for a year to promote the contest."[1]

Jackson won 18 various prizes, which include: a modeling contract in the US, a wardrobe of clothes, cosmetics, shoes and a £10,000 scholarship. Since the competition in August 2008, Jackson has returned home to England and signed a second modeling contract with British agency Boss Model Management.

Career
Jackson's career began in the UK through modeling agency Boss Model Management. The commercial model has now made her mark in India not only modeling but also in the South-Indian Chennai based Tamil film industry . She appeared in a Tamil movie, as female lead, Madrasapattinam, opposite actor Arya, which was released on July 9, 2010.

What are your aims for 2010?
2009 was such a rollercoaster year and I hope 2010 is exactly the same! I intend to keep working closely with my charities, organising events such as fashion shows and 'fun runs' to raise awareness and funds for them.
My movie debut in Madharasapattinam will be released in Summer 2010 worldwide, so I am very excited about that!
I would also love to get the chance to do more travelling this year, it is one of my passions!
My main ambition in 2010 is to get the opportunity to represent my city at the Miss England final. It would be an honour to represent women across the UK and inspire them to also fulfill their dreams too.

Where do you want to be in 10 years time?
Hopefully I will be continuing with what I enjoy - still modeling and acting. I would relish the idea of working more in Asia. I had a fantastic time in 2009 so in the next few years I hope I get the chance to do more over there.
In addition, I am sure I will still be helping my current charities that I support but I'd also like to extend that list and work with new charities aswell.
Most importantly, I hope myself and the people around me are happy and healthy - that is very important too me.

Koh-i-Noor diamond 'staying put' in UK says Cameron
The diamond was worn by the late Queen Mother David Cameron has rejected calls for the famous Koh-i-Noor diamond, which has been part of the Crown Jewels for 150 years, to be returned to India.

The diamond, which was mined in India, was seized by the East India Company in 1849 and presented to Queen Victoria.

Indian politicians have long urged the 105-carat treasure's return.

But asked about the issue during his trip to India, Mr Cameron said such a move would set an unworkable precedent and it was "staying put".

The diamond fell into British hands as part of the Treaty of Lahore, which saw Britain take control of Punjab.

'Atonement'

It was last worn by the late Queen Mother and was displayed on top of her crown when her coffin lay in state after her death in 2002.

Last year Tushar Gandhi, the great grandson of independence leader Mahatma Gandhi, said it should be returned as "atonement for the colonial past".

But Mr Cameron - who is on a two-day visit to India - told the Indian TV channel NDTV this would not be happening.

Among other disputes over famous artefacts, Greece has for many years called for the return of the Elgin Marbles, removed from the Parthenon some 200 years ago and taken to London by the Earl of Elgin.

One expert on the Crown Jewels said, by definition, all diamonds produced before the mid-18th Century were of Indian origin since no other country mined them.

'Cultural exchange'

But historian Dr Anna Keay told the BBC that since its creation, the diamond had had many different owners, being in Persian and Afghan as well as Indian hands.

"The crucial thing is this diamond has been in circulation certainly since the beginning of the 16th Century during which time it has been in the hands of whole sequence of different rulers," told Radio 4's Today programme.

"The question is to which point do you take it back."

The historical case for repatriating the diamond to India was not particularly "sensible", she said, and it was "very unlikely" to happen.

"Either you take the view that objects should stay in the country from which they artistically or geologically sprang.

"Or you say things, through the passage of time and circumstances, change hands and that is the nature of cultural exchange.

"In that case, it is very hard to see a convincing argument for the diamond to go back to India where it hasn't been since the 1730s."

Will Suriya replace Ajith ?

Now that Ajith and Gautham Vasudev Menon have parted ways from doing a film together, it is said that the filmmaker would now make the movie with his favourite actor Suriya as the protagonist. “Gautham likes to work with Suriya very much and he feels that the actor would suit to any kind of role. Hence his next choice for the project, which is a thriller, would obviously be Suriya ”, say sources.

Tentatively titled ‘Thuppariyum Anand’, the film is set in pre-Independence era. “It is about a detective who zeroes in on culprits involved in sensitive cases in his own style”, sources in the know maintain.

One more interesting buzz about the project is that Gautham Menon has signed British Model Amy Jackson, who played the lead role in ‘Madrasapattinam’, for the heroine role. “His favourite cinematographer Manoj Paramahamsa is busy doing research for the film”, sources add.
