Well said sakala, it would cause shiver within ourselves.

A song that drove my monday morning blues out of the window. Wherever this song touches us, we become so pure. Wherever we touch this song, it becomes pure gold. Right from starting violins till manjari finishes with 'kaathil vannu chollumO kanavil kanda kaaryam', it puts us in a state where we are totally shut down from all external factors. We and the song make us this world. Normally they would say any slow soothing song will make us also feel slow and peaceful, but here it is the other way round. As the song progresses with brisk pace, our heart beat slows down. The tune in every line is honey-soaked. The way charanam (same with pallavi-anupallavi too) is structured and built upto the final line is so lovely and rich. This is what I am talking about! Compare the sweetness and unpredictability in this tune with any of recent compositions from any composer, they will surely bite the dust. These two lines; "Paralukal pulayana puzhayude neettil neeradum nEram, Kunukune pozhiyana mazhayude paatil koothaadum nEram" tells why Maestro is not reachable by anyone. It takes a genius to compose a tune like this. That's not all, after these two racy lines how he applies the brake gradually in the final line; 'Kaate vannu konjumO kanavil kanda kaaryam' to catch the pallavi only makes him shine like a sun.

In orchestration, there are suprises everywhere. Especially in the second interlude where he plays veena with backing bass is a stunning piece of work by Maestro. The bass in the whole song gives the added kick in this already honey-sweet melody. What a rhythm, what a pace, what a melody and what an innovation! One of the best song by Vijay Yesudas. I am already a fan of Manjari's voice and singing, but I think this is her debut song and what a performance!. The last song I heard her from Maestro was Ambum Kombum from Pazhassi Raja. Maestro should use her more. One of the sweetest composition of all times!

Lovely writeup V_S.

"Kaate vannu konjumO kanavil kanda kaaryam" - What a brilliant way to join the pallavi !! As you said, no one other than Raja can conceive such a song. This movie also had that lovely' nadhaswaram kaetto managala melam', a favorite of mine. Bhavatharini may not be the best person to sing that song but the tune and orchestration are top notch. I heard from a friend that the producer's only condition to the director was that the music must be by Raaja. And Raja gave some lovely songs which unfortunately were not heard often because the film didn't do well. 'vaazhimaru vazhimaru', 'pandathe naatupram', 'ammayenu vaaku', 'maan kutti', 'nadaswaram kaetto' and this song. I love this album.

Thanks Suresh ji. pandathe naatupuram only makes me smile when Maestro sings malayalam in thamizh flavor and lyrics also fully supporting to be more of thamizh touches than malayalam. Ammayenu Vaaku is a classic! Surprisingly the female version was sung by a new comer Renjini Jose. Since the song goes to higher pitches, even when she managed very well in pitching, the 'bhaavam' suffers there. Missed Chitra or Shreya there. Hearing Yesudas version makes us feel how easy it is when a legend sings. Naadaswaram kEttO is another brilliant number as you said, except the singer choice. Yes it is a lovely album.

Thanks sakala for Madhu. Lovely songs really and first time listen for me. Ketkavillaya is truly heavenly, IR's rendition is laidback adds to the beauty. Nilavai Chutri by Tippu is very good too, like his rendition in this one, similar to Kasthoori Pottu from Konji Pesalam.

Nilavu Suduvathillai has the amazing Naalum Un Manam. It became more popular after it got used in Abhinandhana (Prema Ledani) I guess.

Here is one of the best recorded LP with good stereo imaging. I was able to ge a decent one with very minimal scratches and it sounds awesome in my system. Raaja has experimented a lot with certain instruments being played on separate channels and sometimes they move from left to right and vice-versa.. You can notice this a lot in some albums in the 80's (especially in this one) http://soundcloud.com/raja4ever/thanikatturaaja-raasave

Enjoy

rare, unheard songs

'malarkaLE nAdhaswarangaL' is from the album for BR's kizhakkE pOgum rayil (not picturized IIRC, thankfully, one can't imagine Sudhakar / Radhika for this lovely number) and the song was a stupendous hit those days!

People from the TV gen couldn't see it because of no-video. That doesn't mean this is "unheard" or "rare".

Songs like this brought MV the status he enjoyed in his career!

I have nothing nice to say about the singers  (Mediocre M & MM)

The folk melody, OTOH, in so endearing and enjoyable inspite of the paridhAba singing. Lovely!

I've noted another interesting thing with this song - the terrific second interlude :WOW:

It didn't take me even a second to identify how this had been borrowed by the 'thEnmAvin kombaththu' MDs (who've already plagiarized 'Asai adhikam vachchu' song of maRupadiyum). The most fav song from that album is 'karuththa peNNE' and it has portion of this second interlude used ditto

karuththa peNNE (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WSqvosKmT6o)

One reason for me to like that song was the "IR feel" it has...now I know there's more than just influence

Nice, "radio-only-hit" song from that disaster called karumbu vil.

OTOH, the tribal number, 'meen kodiththEril manmadha rAjan ooRRRvalam pOkinRAn' was extremely popular everywhere! (both Jency & KJY versions played everywhere, 'ooRRRvalam' was Jency's)

As I was listening to therkE veesum (from the 90s songs thread), my mind, for some strange reason popped up this song - kavidhai paadu kuyilE kuyilE (Thendrale ennai thodu).
It's probably the contrast in the styles of the songs, I imagine. While the former is all subtle, beneath-the-cloak experimentation, the latter's a total freakout with look-at-me percussion (which IMO is quite rare for Raaja), some crazy bass lines and wind sections, and lastly an exuberant SPB!

Been humming Saindhu Saindhu for the last few days and unintentionally divert to humming Chahe Pandit Ho/Ramaranalum when reaching the “...nee parkum pothu. Adaa ddaa, hey hey!” part

I guess it was worth going back down memory lane. IRs music doesn’t sound nothing like his previous or present material. It definitely was a landmark song and having KH and SRK in the video/film was more than having icing on the cake. ¾ of the song is Jazz and in the climax the sound turns to Qawwali for the better. Lyrics display a meaningful message in a “Happy go lucky” wrapper.

As usual, recorded couple of vinyl lps... Here are some of the.. You will be blown away (hope so) :)
1. This one is amazing quality. I do have the original ACD and it is no match to this quality. All that hard work is well worth it... http://soundcloud.com/raja4ever/aanandakummi-thamaraikodi
2. Here is another one and in terms of quality this is no match to CD either. Please pardon that initial disturbance that you hear.. the LP had a huge scuff mark... http://soundcloud.com/raja4ever/vellairoja-ohmaanaemaanae and http://soundcloud.com/raja4ever/vellairoja-solaipoovil

One other thing I noticed with PattakathiBhairavan which came out in 1979. It is a STEREO recording (believe it or not). At least the instruments are separated. The LP however is horrendously scratched. I'm on a hunt for such rare ones...

Different vaNdi this morning and listened to a song other than NEPV after a long time :-)

'sempoovE poovE' of siRaichchAlai, SPB-KSC.

What a sweet song!

Like I posted in the SPB-IR thread, the pAdal varikaL are funny. For the lip-sync biz (dubbed from Malayalam), the pAdalAsiriyar would have retained a lot of words and it sounds almost like a Malayalam song.

That apart, there was one line which stunned me this morning and I was laughing without control :

Friends,

Please tell me if IR has done a movie called Anbe Unakkaga in 1992, which is listed in Rakkamma.com.

http://www.rakkamma.com/filmsongs.phtml?filmid=2355

There is a beautiful song I could find in YouTube which is credited to Sharreth for music. It sounds like RaaRaa song from Chandramukhi.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0iEi_FVgupw

It says:

This song was recorded in 1992 for a Tamil movie 'Anbe Unakkaga', but both the songs and film never came out.
There are 2 more songs recorded for the same event.
The lyrics in malayalam shown in this video was written by Minmini for recording the song :-)
Also see the music director name is written as 'Sujith' - Sharrath's previous name !
Songs had been dubbed to malayalam 'again for the unreleased film 'Vilakku Vacha Neram'. Lyrics were written by P.K.Gopi.

Why are you laughing ? I thought it was pretty creative. I dont mind the malayalam flavor and I think the malayalam source is what elevates the lyrics. Our lyricists would not have done a better job ( Na. Muthukumar has done great in NEPV though)

As for me, I was listening to TIS on the train commute. NEPV is a very light dose of this for the younger generation.
We need a 'silappadhikaram' based movie for another grand music by IR. Sri Rama Jeyam could also have been more symphonic. Period authenticity can be thrown out the window.

Ilaiyaraaja = Young King

Ilaimai Kanavugal = Youthful Dreams

Need I say more?

Reeta welcomes the listener by chanting “Nana nana na..!” At this point, the question is what direction will the song take? Just like any other song by The Maestro, playing the prediction game is pointless as no one will possibly guess what will follow next. I see there are two types of music, one where the listener knows what to expect and the other type being the complete opposite. Then there is the Raaja Saab category, where one is correct in their prediction of what is coming up musically but then is teased as a listener to only realise that the “Real Deal” is yet to arrive.

The prelude displays a dreamy setting, where one feels awestruck by the aura. Raaja Saab sets the record straight without any hesitation by allowing Reeta to expand horizons so that listeners feel tiny and lost in her vast vocal magic.

The beat is dropped and is supported by a moog bass. It seems like the gloominess from the prelude has vanished and we’ve reached familiar grounds. Personally, I didn’t want a club beat to emerge as I was too in a trance to leave Reeta. From the cosmic soundscape generated by her, we end up in a confined space and though one can breathe, one probably feels more open and carefree when listening to the sole “Nana nana na..!” humming portion of the prelude.

As the beat builds up, so does the orchestration hence the soundscape builds up. Raaja Saab is one such composer, where you will hear endless influences from various musical genres. You can put the influence of other MDs in The Maestro but other MDs will only reflect the his touch in seldom purely because only he can touch his own sound and no one else. Then again he doesn’t have a trademark sound!

Is this his most electro orientated track? When I heard it, it immensely ticked all boxes in my check list. Listeners do not choose what song they like; it’s the song that chooses the listener. Again, we have a number here that was released in 2008 and I’ve never heard it before so whether a song is released today or yesterday i.e. decades ago, if I’m hearing it for the first time then I will judge it as I would any other recently released material.

Forget world music, fusion, etc. Unlike any other electro pop orientated club song, we have enigmatic chants, Celtic interludes but the pièce de résistance of this song lies in that “bloody hell” of a shift from Celtic to Oriental orchestration. What was that? :gobsmacked: Where did Raaja Saab pull that from and that too for a club banger like this. This piece is enough to leave anyone in a daze.

The only small query I have is that the bass in the “Charanams” should have been sung and vocal melody should have been played on the bass. The melody of the bass in the “Charanams” thoroughly expresses highland Celtic characteristics.

The beauty of this song lies in the fact that, even with an out and out beat orientated song, Raaja Saab still presses the right orchestral buttons which is rarely heard in songs of this genre.

Forever young by heart and name!

Supreme bliss. :notworthy: Thank you sir. Yes after hearing this, we can hear the vast difference in the quality. Still I believe this sample is also ripped to mp3 out of ACD, right? Did you do any mastering or this sample is ripped straight out of ACD? In case it was mastered, how are you achieving it? It is better you should get copyrights and remaster Maestro's soundtrack if that is not expensive.

Hi V_S... Thanks for the kind words.. Its a painstaking effort. Yes, this is bit perfect rip of ACD in AIFF format(16bit/44.1hkz). It is done with a CD drive which has C2 error correction. I have so far ripped around 450+ cd's and is stored in a hard disk in AIFF format. I then route this music to my DAC which does resample it to 24/88. I then apply a plugin which I tweak based on my liking and that is what you hear. Yes.. the sample that you hear is down sampled to MP3 and so you are not hearing the true output. I will load the file to show its full potential. We do have listening sessions out here every now and then and you have to see people's reaction. All that hard work is paid off when you sit in front of the system and listen to the music.. Its very personal. Its like a concert being performed just for you...

SKV... I will do my best to list them..As far as the upsampling goes, you are correct that the CD format is 16/44.1. By upsampling it to 24/88 khz( its double the sampling rate), it is not going to extract anything new. What you hear is what you get. The big difference is that the DSP in some of the DAC's do perform better at higher sample rates. As a result, the song will be transparent (I guess separation of instruments...?) in some DAC's. Again, it depends on the DAC. If the signal source is not a good one, then the output will be terrible (all the abnormal sounds can be heard obviously). Since I play them though a Software Player, this Player has the ability to play the song in INTEGER/DIRECT mode. This is nothing but when the CPU does the calculation it will perform the calculation in INTEGER mode instead of FLOAT mode (again I do not have much knowledge in this area). As a result, less CPU resources are used which results in the sound quality being DAY (song played in ITEGER mode) and NIGHT (original CD version) difference. Again not all DAC's are INTEGER/DIRECT mode capable. You need a player which supports INTEGER/DIRECT mode and you need a DAC which can handle INTEGER mode. The quality of such songs are way better than the original ACD. I hope I'm not confusing people here... The sample from Selvi was recorded with that mode enabled. Since 44.1 * 2 = 88.2 (its multiples of 2) and so, the CPU takes the 44.1 upsamples tto 24/88.2 and feeds the DAC (since its upsample of 2, there is less CPU processing and so the sound quality is exceptional). The DAC sets its sample rate to match the sample rate sent by the MAC which then perform its Digital-to-Analog-Conversion and feeds the PREAMP and then to AMP and the SPEAKER's. *Now, this is for the CD... just think about the Vinyl... Since it has the spectrum range beyond the CD, people tend to record them in DSD/DXD mode (that is 64 times the 44.1khz). This way, you preserve the entire spectrum of Vinyl as is. Several Record Labels do preserve them in this format which can then be down samples to what ever format you need. If you compare the SELVI sample of both MP3 and the AIFF format, it will be difficult to figure out the difference with a normal computer headphones. You would need a good quality one to figure out the difference. *I hope I have not bored people on this topic...*

Vinodkumar, :notworthy: Superb, man! Onnum theriyaathunnu sollittE ivLO solreengaLe  I understand it as "If the source taken, ACD, is of higher quality, then even if the DSP/DAC 'expands' the sound, it only leads in much superios qualit becos there is good separation of instruments, almost all sounds are slightly doubled in time slice, so that you hear superior quality. Since the system is doubling the existing source, if you pass a low quality audio, this process will make the resulting sound, much worser"

Thanks! Let us discuss this later once more, about the software and H/W you are using! :)

Hi SKV.. My apologies for the delay..lt been a very busy weekend for me. :) Yes... you are correct with respect to quality. The DAC is the hardware part and the DSP is a plugin which is the software part which uses the DAC to process signal. I use MAC for audio and the hardware that I use is Metric Halo LIO DAC (which runs on MAC) and PureMusic player. I'm in the process of getting a DAC which can record in DSD/DXD. This also requires a software which can handle DSD/DXD. I will upload some songs which has good recording in the coming days..

Was playing the sure shot 'put the baby to sleep' song 'ThuLLith thirindhadhoru kaalam' from endrum anbudan.
This is the song we have heard zillion times and seen every corner of it - or thats how I had assumed.
While slipping into a trance in the second interlude and coming out of it when SPB started 'thuLLum alai ena' - I sat up
whoa - never heard this before.. in the sense that instead of a bass guitar playing out in the background slowly chumming
a sub sonic melody - here there was an entire string section(cellos? violins?) playing so mildly along with SPB as he sang the entire song a parallel melody. I thought I must be hallucinating and played it one more time and this time unmistakably so - I can catch the violins playing ever so softly along with SPB's haunting vocals creating a soothing effect... What all goes on to make a song 'Raaja song' - one can only
wonder and wonder...

I remember talking to Agilan a while ago where in he mentioned that he doesn't have the original Master tape of this album. Not sure if he was able to find the master tape... I'm eagerly waiting for its arrival. Long time ago, I used to call Oriental Records frequently to release this album... :)

vinod, but then how come agi music released the cd without the master tapes.hope they havent converted mp3s to cd

I don't think it's from MP3. The one I'm getting is vinyl.

the one you are getting is vinyl, ok!

He is asking about the original source!

If they don't have master tape(vinyl etc...) source, how can they release?

so, if they don't have original ilayaraja albums, AGI takes exiting available mp3s & remaster them, release them, is it?

Because ilayaraja gave rights to agi, all agi has to do is shop at the streets of purasawakkam,t.nagar, get ilayaraja mp3s , remaster sell in their website because there are no original source available!

Agi can illegally buy ilayaraja mp3s for their business according to ilayaraja!:-D seri....

Revisited this marvelous composition after about 5 years: http://www.thiraipaadal.com/tpplayer.asp?sngs='SNGIRR3062'&lang=en

Erettu Padinaaru from Raaja Raajathaan! The beginning of the song, all through the end of pallavi - can match the kickawesomeness of Ninnu Kori Varnam probably, in terms of the guitars and the fusion. Not that I dont like the song later - its a melodious composition. A beautiful bhageshree/sri ranjani like melody that probably deserved more appreciation. I dont know if this song was famous or not. The interludes explore the raaja in full splendour with amazing arrangements - typical raaja.

if I have one grudge against this song - it is Raaja's surprise that he DOES NOT come back to the groovy western arrangements - which he normally does. Raaja should have atleast done two versions of this song - one on western arrangements and one with indian arrangements.. you know.. like it is the norm these days to label "Desi Mix", "Radio Mix" etc., it would have been amazing. Stunning composition!

Aaha. Two outstanding number there. 'devanin kovil' and 'thirutherila varum'. Both of this property of being very melodious and at the same time touching your heart. 'devanin kovil' right from the beginning has that melancholic feel and when Chitra goes 'naan enna seiven deivame' you can feel her helplessness. Amazing tune. As for 'thirutheril', it sheer joy right from the guitar strumming which starts the song.

Sober singer (vijaytv) has this round going on for the last two days called 'strings melody' - a bunch of 6-8 violins, an acoustic guitar and a bass. All contestants have been singing (quite poorly) IR songs so far. While all this might seem too beautiful and romantic, the horror and unintentional comedy has to be seen to be understood! A myriad of ROFLMAX stuff! A bloody slaughter of the man's intricately woven orchestration! Firstly they've not been playing the original notes but have been doing some kinda ad-lib stuff, which to me reeks of lack of dedication to the art (you could play whatever crap you want, but play the original properly once at least). And it doesn't just stop there, the violins are playing such high quality crap that can put even SAR violins to shame! (the "ohhmygoddhowbyooodiful" comments they get from the 'judges' - :rotfl3:)

Sample - uravugal thodarkadhai
Vocals: iniyellaam (arguably the most goosebumby portion of the song)
violins: todadoin-pause-todadoin
vocals: sugamE
violins: tididoin-pause-tididoin :rotfl2: :hammer: :ungongongong:

ha ha.. I know what you mean - Hariharization = improvization, SARization = silly strings !! how very appropriate :-) . Yes, I watched this yesterday. Some of the kids are surely very talented though.. to sing like that at that age. but they are nowhere near the original. One of the good things that came about with IR using the same singers is .. they got very good at their art. We get variety/diversity in music these days but the depth is missing. I hope we get over this fascination with various genres and start sticking to some idiom and make serious music.

I have previously heard only the hariharan version - sadhana version is so haunting and so clean - that it stands shoulder to shoulder
in its mood and feel to "Vanaville" from Ramana.
As raja told shreya sometime back - you dont have to learn my language to bring the mood into the song - it is all there in the tune - every single aspect that connects mere sa re ga ma s to the emotion of the character - all encoded neatly. if anything else the interludes complete the effect . Singers can just sing, musicians can just play the note. nothing else is required - the completeness is in the composition.

Probably the first time, I was humming an interlude (first interlude) as a child. The song and interlude enchanted me and it still does.

Revisited Mayilu songs after a while. It's a lovely album - Yathe Yathe, Thukkamenna, Aadhi Sokka, Enna Kutham warranted multiple listens. The songs invoke an earthy, rustic feel that's so authentic, there was nothing artificial about the tune, singing or orchestration.

the Jimmi Hendrix style funky electric guitar picking, followed by a Bach - style arrangement on the piano, followed by the Ennio Morriconish 'laa laa la laa' humming !!

boy! what a stunner this piece is/was and the movie itself - thanks to Kamal, Bharatiraja and the silent-contributor on the screenplay area K.Bhagyaraj - a slickly made thriller - these three (of course alongwith IR) came back to give the most under-rated film of the 1980s 'Tik tik tik' and the masaala thriller 'kaithiyin dairy'

wish Kamal had roped in Bhagyaraj for his dream actioner 'Vikram' at least as a consultant - it would have been far more interesting

Going by songs that impacted me during my childhood....here's a song that I used to sing in the 80's before I know anything about Raja. Always loved the way the song flows at the beginning. Looking back now, it seems Raja had a bit of MSV influence during this period? Anyone from this period know more?

"Adi kannatha" from Siva has now been on a once-a-day listen mode !

I cannot think of any other composer customizing a song to suit the image, personality and the energy of any actor, the way IR has done over, over and over again!

This song is a great example for the same - look no farther than this song to understand what made Rajini the star click so well in the late 1980s - IR infuses the "Rajini"sque energy into this track so casually, like a Mark Waugh lofted on-drive, making SPB render it exactly as IR wants him to, one would think Rajini himself is singing.

The place where the tune goes up "then madura thamizh sandham" immediately followed by "andha pandi muthhu pol en pulla" and the "thara ramp am" to come back to the main pallavi - what a roller-coaster ride for a typical situation in a Rajini film from the 1980s!!

if a Rajini fan has not listened to this song, he/ she does not deserve to be a Rajini fan - conditionaa soltaen!

PS: this is one song I like despite the "chaangu jakkaa" chorus!

I am a bit uncomfortable about the styling 'auto pilot' for his mid 80s work. Auto pilot suggests treading the beaten path without much effort. He was very much in a creative mood in the mid 80s, probably just took it to a level where his trademark indo-western fusion didn't strike you in the face (and more natural and seamless). Sangeetha Meham which I heard again the other day comes to mind. The 2nd interlude is just incredible, a kind of tribute to Bach. And it fits so well in the context of the lyrics, drawing from all sources to show that it's all music at the end of the day, whether we call it Indian or Western or whatever.

crimson king - even when he was on 'autopilot', whenever he was given the freedom to give something creative, or a challenge was presented - he has always risen to the occasion - it was during this autopilot mode, he gave us the underrated 'my dear marthandan' (every Prathap Pothan's directorial venture with IR had a percussion heavy soundtrack that IR uniquely customized to his films - PP made Chaithanya in telugu - rollicking score), 'poonthotta kavalkaran' etc.

look at the 'adi ponnatha' song situation - director must have explained it thus : "the hero (Rajini) discovers his wife is pregnant and announces the same to the entire town/village through a song".

IR gives a number that has all the ingredients of a Rajinisque song - uncomplicated jerky tune composed to accommodate Rajini's style (if you will) and makes SPB render it with enough intonations to complete the 'Rajini' feel!

'yaaney mele kudhire mele' the way its rendered, and also the throw of words with which SPB ends a line/sentence or the slight giggly note in the pallavi towards the end - its all Rajini-specific rendition by SPB, as obviously insisted and directed by IR!

remember in an interview, SPB confessed that under IR he gets to sing exactly as he wants him to, citing the example of 'madathiley kanni madhathiley' from Veera

That's a somewhat different topic and yes I agree of course that even in less stimulating projects, he often came up with great songs. I was addressing the mid 80s specifically. Referring to it as autopilot smooth is kind of misleading (at least to me) - it suggests as if seamlessness and better resolution of ideas is not such a good thing. I think even by his exalted standards he hit a purple patch in the mid 80s, coming up with some of his best scores - Mouna Raagam, Vaidehi Kaathirunthal, Punnagai Mannan, Mudhal Mariyadhai, Udhaya Geetham, Amman Koil Kizhakaale, Sindhu Bhairavi, etc etc. Speaking of Amman..., the interaction between SPB on vocals and guitar, flute and harmonium in the track Chinna Mani is incredible. What appears to be just a peppy folk based track is full of stunning complexity.

So organic.

Thank you for this HD quality song which was my college fav too. Raja shows a new facet of SuddhaSaveri in "mAnAda kodi" . Janaki's vocals is haunting as well. Though the movie was a mid 80's one, when I listen to the interludes, they seem like early Raja ludes during days of "Kavikuyil" or "16 vayadhinilE" or "kizhakkE pOgum rayil" That adds to the allure.

Thanks for this post. I am hearing this for the first time. No wonder why Super singer stars sing only the popular compositions. There are various other songs similar to this category from Raja sir. unfortunately those songs are not popular because the movie did not perform well in box office.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=508OseixjJw

How much can one count in one bar of music convey...?

An eternity..

Watch that phrase 'bE' in the word 'MunbE' @ 1:27. (It's the opening words of First stanza - "Sruthi sErum munbE").

There is a micro pause between 'Mun' and 'bE'. That pause actually makes me skip a beat inside every time I listen to it!

First of all there is the pause..
And then the musical clarity of that phrase 'bE' (descending notes of 'mgsn')..
And then the continuity is still maintained as if that pause wasn't there...
And then there is the emotion of that phrase which can drain your soul..

Try singing that line with all these ingredients and you will begin to realize why there is only one S Janaki..
