Request Lyrics, Composer, Ragam, Taalam and Chitta Swarams if any, of these songs :
(as I heard them in the Kutcheri - by Yesudas in Bangalore on 5/4/09) :

Since many of PD’s songs are often sung in many alternate Ragams, pl also let me know the alternate Ragam(s) and alternate Taalam(s) if any, of these songs.

1) Haria Dasarike Nara Haria Nambidavarige ... ... Lokanayaka Shri Purandara Vittala

2) Not sure if this song is of PD :
Guru Vinai Yake Maraiuvi... Ee Lokadulage ... Ati-Snehadindali...
sung in Vandana Dharini Ragam – janyam of Kalyani (65)

3) Innu Daya BhAgate Dasana Mele ... Pannaga Shayana ... Manasa Vaacha Kaya ... ...
Nerawal in : "Prana Nindu Swami Enu Madida Beku"

sung in Kalyani - Alapanai was slightly subtly tilting towards Hindustani style, perhaps on purpose, this being a PD Song ?

[Later, I learnt that this song was also famously sung by MLV in Kalyana Vasantam Ragam.]

Thanks

Shri Lakshman,

Unfortunately, I did not take any Audio-Clip record that day !

We may have to look for something very close to these songs - somewhat similar to what we did earlier for the Valaji song : "Maragati Mohatiye ..." -> "marevareno hariya ...", but this time, without the Audio !

The 1st song "Haria Dasarike" has Purandara Vittala mudra at the end - so, should we look for, in the PD songs' list ??

We also know that the 2nd song : "Guru Vinai Yake Maraiuvi... Ee Lokadulage ... Ati-Snehadindali..." is in Vandana Dharini Ragam, and that, it too, is a Kannada song.

The clue for the 3rd song is that it is often sung in Kalyani or Kalyana Vasantam.

And all 3 songs are Kannada songs - one common attribute that I have found, which makes it so difficult to get the lyrics in the Internet searches !

**********************

Shri Lakshman,

I am also waiting for yr response on the lyrics of the Andolika song : "Shri Maha Ganapatim Bhavaye" in the other site :

Shri Lakshman, 27/10/10

Since there was a request earlier from some moderator, to limit to within 2 requests per day (lyrics or any other query), I have raised these queries on different days ie, one on 25/10, then one on 26/10 etc.

I have some more lyrics' requests - even as some of the current ones are still not answered fully.

So, I will raise those lyrics' requests separately in this site and / or the other site - today / tommorrow ie, 27/10 or 28/10.

Thanks

Thanks for the lyrics of “innU dayabArade”.

If / when you find the lyrics of the other 2 Kannada songs : “hariya dasarige …” and “guruvina yake …”, would appreciate if you could share them with me.

I know that in the other site, readers are requested to make one lyric request in each posting, but since all these 3 songs were sung in the same Kutcheri, I took the liberty of clubbing them ; it also makes better sense to club them in this particular case.

Thanks in advance [TIA].

Thank you Sudarshan for the lyrics of “guruvina yake …”

I don't understand : "tALa: kEravA". Could you pl clarify.
If it is a special Ragam, could you also let us know the Laghu, Dhrutham and Anudhrutham details pl.

Also pl clarify if this Song is always sung only in Bhimplas Ragam, or does it have alternate Ragams / Talams like many of PD's songs.

Is the lyrics of this song available in any Internet site ? (of course, other than this Thread !)

**************

Would appreciate if you could similarly share details of the other song : “hariya dasarige …”.

Thanks

I have limited knowledge about classical music (Hindustani style)
In hindi they call it as Keherwha which is of 8 beats.
I have not heard the song sung by anybody.
Raag Bhimplas also Hindustani classical music type.
Most of the North Karnataka region, you will find this type of music sung for folk, bhajans and in dramas.

Sudarshan: I managed to get hold of an audio clip of the song hariya dAsarige in shrIranjani bt the recording is poor and I could only manage to decipher the pallavi line. It is:
hariya dAsarige sariyuNTe narahariya nambidavarige vEruNTE
Would you like to give it a try? Thanks.

Thanks Mr Sudarshan and Shri lakshman.

What does the Ref Book on Purandara Dasa's Kritis say about the Taalam info for this song ?

There are many publications about Dasa sahitya which contians only lyrics without mentioning the raaga/taala. This song is also one among them. Also some lyrics with two composers signatures
example: Kadegola taarenna chinnave (purandaradasaru/vyAsarajaru)
Enu illada eradu dinada samsara (purandaradasaru/kanakadasaru)
All words remains same except signature words.

Thanks for the Taalam info.

11/11/10 :

Shri Lakshman,

In the recent times, we have come across atleast >= 5 "new" songs (in discs with me) :
- these 3 songs sung by Yesudas
- Maragathe Mohatiye [marevareno hariya], sung by Vishaka
- Shri Maha Ganapatim Bhavaye in Andolika by Shankar

Plus, I faintly recall, probably, about 1 or 2 such "new" songs in my discussions earlier (discs of probably a year back).

Similarly, others may also have paved the way for other "new" songs.

I assume that you would add all such new songs in yr database, and thus, they will also appear in the next updated CD versions.

Rgds
