My all time favorite is always Sir Michael Holding. What an elegant action. That graceful running, elegant action finishing up with an excellent follow through. One word Genius!

Please watch his magical spell in Oval 1976 where he took three wickets.

Watch him is slow motion!

Abdul Razzaq bowling action is one among... Such a clean, calm one.. like Pete Sampras action in Tennis.

Kapil Dev, Wasim Akram, Patrick Patterson, Ambrose, Walsh, Malcolm Marshall, Abdul Qadir, Carl Hooper and Glenn McGrath are my other favorite bowlers impressed with their bowling actions.

Yes, Courtney Walsh, McGrath, Kapil Dev has the cleanest action. But I don't know enough left-arm seam bowlers, except Wasim Akram and Bruce Reid. They have a beautiful bowling action. Are there any old timers in left-arm seam bowling? I love left hand seames taking LBW because it is the difficult one as the ball would swing outside the off stump, for over the wicket bowlers especially.

I also think Imran Khan and Waqar have very elegant action. Imran has a slow run-up, but Waqar has fast run-up, but the way they end their bowling is so beautiful to watch.

@2:05 Dravid getting out to Akram. This is what I was talking about, left hand fast bowler bowling to right hander over the wicket and plum in front. Beauty this is!

Dennis Lillee's another great legend, See his amazing run up and devastating spell (8/29 in 7.1 overs).
Here it is as commented (in the video) by Sir Gary Sobers. "Seeing Lillee for the first time, and he has got such a nice run up and nice action and fluency, and he looks tremendously quick especially on the Brisbane wicket."

Since he is tall, he takes some long steps toward stumps, very beautiful to watch him bowling.

Another nice one comment by Sir about Lillee, "I remember walking out to bat and I looked back, Rodney Marsh was standing about nearly 25 yards back, I turned to him and asked what do you all doing all back here, Marshy said you will find out".

Those days they usually have 7 or 8 slips, one point, wk and bowler, that's it. Beautiful! With Lillee and Jeff Thomson bowling, should be a absolute merry to watch. :notworthy:

Has to be Jason Gillespie, Allan Donald and Chaminda Vaas for me. Gillespie and Donald for the aggression in their action stride, Vaas for smooth run up and delivery stride :)

Thanks guys. Lot of names, need to check Dale Steyn, Allan Donald, Shane Bond, could not recollect now. I checked our Indian left hand seamers, R P Singh and Irfan Pathan, man beautiful bowling action, especially R P Singh's action is too good.

R P Singh action is very sleek and straight.

Irfan Pathan's hatrick at Karachi, Those beautiful in-swingers to capture the second and third wicket is legendry stuff. Always fun to watch left-handers bowling in-swingers.

The best bowling action for a spinner -this award was made for and must go to "Abdul Qadir" from Pakistan
The best bowling action for a medium pacer - you have to give it to glen mcgrath - very little margin for error for batsman - head remains still,, wrist perfectly cocked and eyes straign on middle stick - Perfect bowling machine
The best express fast bowling Action I have seen - I would give it to Waqar Younis. The runup varies slightly when he is trying "reverse swing" - but one of the best side on bowling actions..

Yes Jai, Right arm leg spinners are always a treat to watch them bowl. Starting with our chandra sekhar (my all time favorite), Abdul Qadir, Shane Warne. They also have the best bowling actions. Even Mushtaq Ahmed's action almost same as Abdul Qadir. They bowl very straight, no bending of elbows. That's how spin bowling should be.

Among the speedsters, Waqar's action with that energetic run and bowl is one of the best of all time. Always a joy to watch and that too when he gets a wicket on that moving banana swingers (except when he bowls to India :)).

Rajraj reminded me of Wesley Hall. What a bowler he is. I was searching for a video of his bowling action. I found a great compilation video of all bowling action (some I really could not recollect), but the best video. At 4:33, it's only for few seconds, but we can get Wesley Hall in action. This video covers cricketers from 1950 to 1999.

Now comes the actions of right arm off spinners. I came to know about this legend from my father. One and only Jim Laker. Beautiful bowling action. Surprise to see him bowling around the wickets to right handers. Coming from behind the umpire showing up in the last moment!. Beautiful!
England's Jim Laker taking 9/37 and 10/53 against Australia finishing the match single handedly. Legend of all time. This record will never be broken. :notworthy:

Elaborating on the post to other bowlers

Threatening - Curtly Ambrose. With an Tunnel approaching Train motion coupled with a frame of 6' 7" he delivers the ball at an height of nearly 8 feet before he delivers. Single most favorite.
Artistic - Wasim Akram. Relatively lesser run up with a rapid(not quick) high arm action with swing whatever way u want.
Robotic/Pin Point precision - Glenn "Pigeon" Mcgrath - Pick a spot on the pitch draw a small circle and ask him to bowl 100 balls in that spot. He will do it.

Personal fav:
Hit the deck - Zippy Zakky Bhai - India's own Zaheer. Has mastered all the 3 balls SG, Duke and Kookabura and he only has got better with age. If only he steers clears of injuries and maintains a lean physique(he is quite fat now for a fast b'ler)he will be India's best.

Shane Bond.
