I was thinking about those times exactly where we saw lot of discussions[I used to be silent reader most of those times] on various topics.

For a lazy hubber like me who only looks at the threads which are in first page.where(offlate) mostly all of them are New or expected movies/box office related threads tops and all we see is rants which discourages me to move to another thread or posting anything in those.i'm sure many in my league have the same feeling.
I think we should revive those threads to start those discussions and leaving these threads to Fans...who wants to boast/rant about movie on basis of collections/posters/screen counts,etc.

After the success of Arrambham and Veeram actor Ajith is on cloud nine. The actor has apparently increased his remuneration to 28 crores and producer AM Ratnam has offered this steep hike for Ajith’s next film with Gautham Menon.

It has to be recalled that with arrambam, AM Ratnam made a strong comeback as producer and he is hell bent that he will raise Ajith’s remuneration to 50 crores by 2015!

Ajith Kumar's films seem to be in huge demand.
The success of his last two films attracted Hindi filmmakers and there was a huge competition to buy the remake rights of his recent flicks. :clap:

His Arrambam and this-year release Veeram are the two flicks, which, apparently, is ready to go to B-town. Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar are reportedly starring in the remakes. Veeram Though Veeram released this year, the demand was huge for the remake rights of the film. It is mainly because of the content. Hindi audience love commercial entertainers. A good storyline, masala elements backed with action often impressed Bollywood cine goers. And the Ajith Kumar's flick appeared like a tailor-made film for commercial superstars. Soon after the release, many showed interest towards remaking it in Hindi. Director Siva himself said that while the film was being dubbed in Telugu, it would be remade in Hindi and Kannada. According to reports, a leading producer has acquired the rights of Veeram and has got green signal from Salman Khan to star in the flick.

Eventhough I cannot view the picture in #2604, seeing the 2nd one, I can say that its not an official one. Someone has edited an existing picture with their horrible fonts that does not match up. Anyway, could you give the source from where you got the pic, please ?

Throughout the journey of Veeram poster it never projected Ajith nor its "single" Hit status. It just said without minding the "Ajith element", sticking only to the sucess of the "film".

Eventhough we speak very little about posters in TFI, its very important to note the advancement of a film through Poster. There are awards for Posters outside India, its only here we do not care or talk about them. I had been following Veram posters right from its teaser release.

There are several types and styles an artist can use in posters. Veeram artists stuck to 3 formatted size and used just the suitable color with few styles to projet the film.

- The teaser poster came out emphasising the recognizability factor. They just let out a pose of Ajith with the title of the film using the "known-face-factor" - Ajith, under a cool look emphasing the premises of the film.

- Following the release it took another style which was honest in its projections, where you can see all the main characters in a single photo or the other artisits in group or a scene lifted from the film itself. Even "New-Faces" were not omitted. This style helps to register the characters from the film and by using the proper movie still, it increases the interest.

- Once the movie reached the sucess-status, it mixed 2 different styles, where you can see the big-sized Ajith's head floating along with the "back-stage" members inside square boxes. Here they selected poses of Ajith where he looks straight at the squares or does an appreciative gesture, and one even had the squares on his shoulders.

- Throughout its transformations, it used taglines that sutied the advancement of the film.

So, on the whole you have different styles used in a single type poster which I feel is note worthy and ofcoarse a word of appreciation to the team who arranged these posters. If you remember I was not happy with the Title Font when it was released in the Teaser Poster (with Ajith having tea), apart from that VEERAM tells you its sucess story & people who worked for it through its posters.

The Ajth fim gets dubbed in Telugu after top stars turn down remake proposals

Tamil movie, Veeram, one of the biggest hits in the career of superstar Ajith, is all set to be released in Telugu as Veerudokkade after discussions over its remake rights failed. Telugu stars Venkatesh or Nagarjuna were supposed to reprise the role of Ajith in the remake version, but the makers' plan did not fructify owing to many reasons.
Veeram, which showcases Ajith in a rustic image, was made on a budget of Rs 35 crore and it achieved break-even during the third week itself. Though it was released simultaneously with Jilla (featuring Tamil star Vijay and Malayalam superstar Mohanlal), the movie did spectacularly well. Following the stupendous performance of Veeram, Telugu film-makers were keen on buying the remake rights of the movie.
Initially, Veeram's producer intended to produce the Telugu remake version as well. Since the demand for the remake rights shot up, the producer dropped the idea of producing it in Telugu.
"A top production house and a leading independent producer were keen on acquiring the Telugu remake rights of Veeram. They were of the view that either Venkatesh or Nagarjuna could justify the protagonist's role. However, when both the banner and the producer approached the two top stars, they were reluctant to take up the remake project because of unavailability of dates and hectic schedules,"says a source in the remake trade.
Apparently, Nagarjuna was not interested in the remake version because of several reasons. The actor lost his father, the legendary actor, Akkineni Nageswara Rao (ANR) recently. His family is producing Manam, which features all three generations of the family. Unfortunately, before Manam could be released, the veteran actor passed away. It is learnt that Nagarjuna would not accept any new project before Manam was released.
Venkatesh is busy with three-big budget projects - Raadha; remake version of the Malayalam hit movie Drishyam, and Ori Devuda (the remake version of Hindi movie Oh My God) which also has Telugu superstar Pawan Kalyan.
As discussions with the two actors failed, the producer of Veeram was not keen on waiting anymore and decided to release the dubbed version in Telugu. The movie is expected to release across Andhra Pradesh during the third week of March.

It has been raining dubbing films in Tollywood from quite some time now. This week its the turn of Ajith’s super hit Tamil film Veeram, which has hit the screens. Tilted Veerudokkade, this films has Tamanna Bhatia as the female lead, and Shiva is the director. Let’s see what this village entertainer has in store for us.
Story:-
Veerendra(Ajith) is a simple and a hard working business man in a village called Veeravaram. He has four brothers whom he is very fond of. Veerendra does not marry citing reasons that if a girl enters his family, there would be problems between his brothers.
On the other hand, all his four brothers are in love, and want to get married. Knowing that in order for them to get married, they will have to convince Veerendra to first. All of them get together and make a plan and contact Gautami(Tamanna) to some how woo their brother. Gautami starts wooing Veerendra, and in this process falls in love with him.
When things seem to be going fine, and Veerendra is all set to marry Gautami, her family is targeted by Nagaraju(Atul Kulkarni). Who is this Nagaraju? What relation he has with Gautami’s family ? How does Veerendra save everyone from Nagaraju?. For answers to all these questions, you need to watch this film on the big screen.
Plus Points:-
Major highlight of the film is undoubtedly Ajith. He is a one man army, and carries the whole film on his shoulders. Ajith looks stylish in the village attire and is particularly good in the action episodes.
Though Tamanna does not have a meaty role, she looks beautiful and impress most of the times. Santhanam’s comedy in the first half is very good and lightens the film.
The actors who acted as Ajith’s brothers are decent. As usual Nasser does his best in an important character. Tambi Ramaaiyya’s comedy role and the interval block is pretty good.
Minus Points:-
First half of the films moves on a slow pace as number of scenes have been dragged unnecessarily. Story of the film is quite old and has been dealt with in many movies.
Fifteen or twenty minutes into the film, the movie becomes predictable and has nothing new in it. Music of the film is the biggest minus and the climax is also stretched and makes it irritating for the audience.

Technical Aspects:-
Camera work by Vetri is quite good in the film. Production values are good as all the songs have been shot lavishly. As said above, Devi Sri Prasad’s music is a big let down as none of the songs make an impression.
But its Devi’s background scores which scores the brownie points. The music scored for elevating Ajith in the fights and climax is extraordinary. Editing is quite disappointing as a number of scenes could have been chopped off in the first half.
Director Shiva has used many points from his previous Telugu films like Shoryam, Shankam and Daruvu. He managed to add decent flavour to this film, but lost out on the plot making it quite routine.

Verdict:-
On the whole, Veerudokkade is an out and out Ajith film. His dialogues, stunts and star power will be liked his fans immensely. For all those who like the typical and high octane commercial pot boilers, can give this film a shot.

What Rohith Shettys of the world will never understand is there on offer in director Siruthai Shiva's Veerudokkade (dubbed version of Veeram). Watching Ajith in a white dhoti-clad role is a treat. Surrounded by entertaining sidekicks, Ajith is seen in a role that the Telugu audience will like.
One reason why Ajith (like Surya and Vikram) is more popular than any Tamil star (barring the legends Rajini and Kamal) is that he doesn't act like a typical Tamil hero. His mannerisms are different. With a good built, he looks every bit that larger-than-life Telugu hero in this film.
There is a difference, though. On the face of it, this film is marked by hero-worshipping. It's not so, at least going by the Telugu film standard. In Telugu films, superstars are needlessly deified so much so that a sidekick talking in a lighthearted manner with the hero is seen as blasphemy. In this film, Ajith's character is respected, he is god for some, goon for the baddies and a devil for the villains, but a ground-to-earth, next-door elder for the rest of the villagers.
Such elements add so much of value to this good entertainer.
It's a delight to watch Ajith in a non-suave role. He was marvellous in Gambler (Mankatha) but we, the Telugu audience, did miss him in a hatke role for role.
The story of brothers, affection, is like an old wine, and Siva has made amendments to put the vintage wine in a tasty cocktail of entertainment and commercialization.
Ajith is Veerendra, the affectionate elder brother of four, crossing the mountains to make it big and yes the traditional story indeed. And to make the brother bond firm and glued, he detests marriage. Enter Santhanam who takes the first half on a roller coaster ride of decent fun! The tirade he runs through by trying to get Veerendra fall in love along with the younger brothers is thoroughly enjoyable.
Tamannah is Gomathi Devi the bubbly doll, doing justice to her character is not just the usual heroine who runs behind her Romeo for duets and Siva has utilized her thoroughly. Bringing the little cupid that's hidden in the rough and honest Veerendra is the first half, and "n" attempts later finally it happens. Never has mass action been related in such an enjoyable way with no much Punch dialogues and the best part is how neatly action has been unveiled!
After a crafty first half to a sentimental cum high voltage action packed second half with villains' entry into the movie now and then, the film draws to a close with a lot of positivity. The train action sequence before the interval is worth mentioning and Ajith has performed some daredevil stunts and is really a goose bumpy scene indeed, credits to the Silva and the stunt engineers for pulling this off. Not to single out most of the fight sequences, this really gave the much required mass feel to Ajith and his looks!
Siva and Boopathy Raja's storytelling deserves an applaud for it has taken the tested rural story and decorated it with mass, action and most importantly made use of Ajith's enormous screen presence to the full potential. There are minor drawbacks like showcasing too much affection one too many times, these are very vintage sentimental trysts. The second half with sentiments and bonding is quite a lag, but on the whole it doesn't jolt you much.
DSP is known to have given some excellent mass numbers in the past, however Veeram will sadly remembered only for its aggressive BGM and not the songs. The art directors and Vetri's cinematography of the beautiful village milieu is relishable!
Coming to the cast, Ajith Ajith Ajith all the way! Most of the mass action movies have the heroes carrying the movie through the film, however this character has proved it doesn't have to be! Ajith has demystified the fact that mass does not relate to entire movie presence, but the times you appear should make you stand up and clap!
After him, Santhanam is the key, with his one liners making you double with laughter and sticks well to the story as well. Tamannah performs deftly and she is gorgeous, as ever. Nassar, Viddharth, the brothers do their role well enough, with Pradeep menacing as a villain should be.
On the whole a complete family entertainer, finish your Pongal rituals and rush to Veeram! You ain't gonna regret it!
Verdict : A decent entertainer. A must-watch for Ajith's fans.

Veerudokkade: Heady potboiler

Sometimes we just can’t explain why we enjoy formula films despite their predictability. We watch each scene unfold feeling triumphant when every action and dialogue that springs up goes exactly as you expected. What didn’t work for the Himmatwala remake works greatly here and it is quite a lot of fun. This movie reminds us of the typical Dr. Rajashekar’s stories where he plays big brother and the younger ones dote on him and they don’t marry because the brother hasn’t. Here Ajith is the father figure, the brother who starved himself to raise his four siblings. Until five minutes before the break he hardly moves his finger, simply throws glances of all kinds — emotional, loving to angry — but once he senses danger lurking somewhere in the train, he is on his feet, hanging precariously from the train kicking the baddies out. Director Shiva knows what pleases the masses and he has packed every emotion in the right quantity though he indulges in giving out a long drawn climax.

Veerendra (Ajith) is comfortable when Santhanam comments on his salt and pepper beard and wonders if that is the right age for him to fall in love. Veerendra has wowed not to marry because of his belief that a woman would disintegrate his family; the brothers are dating their respective partners on the sly. The only way that appears permissible is to bring a woman into the scene and make him or her fall in love with each other— Gomati Devi (Tamannaah) is the chosen one. In the first half the director shows the importance and power Veerendra enjoys in the village, how Gomati is fascinated with his love for animals and birds and how peace loving he is; but she leaves him as soon as she sees him wielding a weapon. The second half of the story brings Veerendra and the brothers to Gomati’s home and we are given another story of how peace-loving the family is and the rude shock they experience as the brothers’ stay in their family prolongs.

Ajith does all the acrobatics, fights in a lungi and gets into formals during the duets. Ditto with Tamannah, she looks pretty in saris and chudidars and slips into weird western clothes during dream sequences. Thambi Ramaiah’s entry reminds us of our very own Brahmanandam. Little girls are made to say mature dialogues, the one who plays Tamannah’s neice and addresses Ajith as uncle at one point says, “Uncle as each day passes my fondness for you is growing,” and the latter smiles silently. Another clichéd and whistle-inducing moment for the crowd is when Veerendram after attending his man Friday’s wedding, gives a chunk of his property as the wedding gift. The man thumping his heart says, “I didn’t take it seriously when you’d call me brother but now I know how much you meant it (sic)”. With many more one liners like this, Veerudokkade with an ensemble cast including Nasser, Rohini Hattangady, Pradeep Rawat etc makes for a complete entertainer. Those who aren’t Ajith’s fans can stay away from it.

Thats a very glad news. Think the current admistrative bench is working efficiently to bring in more movies to the theatres and provide choices for audience to pick their movies. But still they got to strangle down single releases and release movie simulteneously in not more that 5 to 10 theatres, giving equal opputunities to indie and small production movies. Let them battle it out and often I find the results quite suprising. Kolisoda, eventhough I am not quite satisfied with the movie, seeing it to have performed well proves my theory. More over, like cinema halls outside India, the theatres screening movies should promote the movie rather than looking upon the production house to do some magic. This collective scenerio will bring in crowd to the theatres. More vigorous overseas marketing should be carried out, say, each movie gets atleast one release in noted countries. Lunch Box was a super hit movie that was released with the other foreign films. Last but not least, they must cut down all the crappy interviews and speeches, and concentrate more on the movie rather that an individual.

And how about the bench taking initiatives to work with the production houses and market an awesome "collector edition DVD/bluray" of the film, so that people can have a choice of buying them rather than going for illegal ones ?!?

That affected the collection a lot in UK and those campaigning after effects are still felt in UK BO.

All we can hope now is Kathi doesn't end in facing that kind of situation in European countries.
