Witsel now moves to Zenit.

Another diehard gooner boy we've declined to sign (but thankfully we've avoided the cringe worthy situation of the lad signing for another club saying 'I listened to the little boy inside me'). Also, Zenit nearly spending 90m on his wages + transfer fee.

Thank you Gazprom. By that I mean Morons!

Warden,
Did you see Giroud hold his run, to ensure Cazorla's pass finds Poldi in space? That's vision and clever play!

kid-glove
4th September 2012, 12:18 AM
One thing you'd have to say about Cazorla is that he's cut out of same scissors the likes of Xavi, Iniesta were made. In that, he's not just content finding pockets of space & creating chances like Cesc, Silva, Mata among others, he's first and foremost the flux agent who holds the play with his vision of passing and ability to 'control' football matches.

For one,so far hes the only outfield player with less than 50% passing in a league home of Pulis and Allardyce. And not like theres a lot of risk involved in his game style either.
Or maybe Im just spoilt watching Judas for all these years.

kid-glove
4th September 2012, 12:24 AM
That is because we've mixed our play by playing lot more long passes and goal kicks to him. Something we'd not be able to do with VanPursestrings. And he won most of the aerial duels. Dominated Saw-cross, that's enough I say. Besides, likes of Poldi, Cazorla will soon build an understanding, to pick on the second balls.

Besides, this isn't a negative in itself. For a passing side like us, to mix the play with periodic long punts and diagonals, will make the opposition play a higher line than be comfortably parked in double banked four seater bus.

Warden
4th September 2012, 12:24 AM
Not concerned at all about his movement or awareness or for that matter his finishing.
Just a bit though about his technique, especially considering we've got to play against parked buses way more than the other teams.

kid-glove
4th September 2012, 12:28 AM
Analka, Pursestrings, Reyes, Cashley, Fabregas, Nasri, Adepaymewhore were quick to impress and some of the 'jump ship' specialists all instantly produced BANG! moment.

But true Arsenal legends like Bob, Titi, God all took their time to settle in. Titi never convinced me in his 1st season, even after eventually scoring. Giroud already plays like a striker. Finishing will come. At least, he didn't do an arrogant paneka when you are 1-2 down against a promoted side away from home..

Warden
4th September 2012, 12:28 AM
Agreed. Our passing from the back and crossing has been way off as well.

kid-glove
4th September 2012, 12:31 AM
True, we might be missing that little bit of sophisticated technique and cultured play against parked buses. But it is not like it always proved successful for us. Remember many frustrating football matches with Pursestrings against parked buses.

Agreed, that should come with time and the return of Jack and Sagna.

Still mad are we  He fits in there both gamewise and attitude wise like a glove though.

Moldova, like Arabia, not up to task. And another 5-0 scoreline. Engerland still looked impressive. Went there and did the job.

Lampard-Gerrard-Cleverley will not work against top opposition. One of Fat Lump/Stevie Me should be dropped and Carrick brought in.

Decent assist for Theo. More than decent for Ox.

Satish, one doubt.
What happens to the substitutes? If I don't manually change them instead of the players inside the XI, will I still get points?

If a player in your main XI does not play in the gameweek, he is substituted automatically from a likewise player in the bench.

Your team must have 1 goalkeeper, at least 3 defenders and at least 1 forward selected at all times.

If your starting team has 3 defenders, and one of them played 0 minutes, he can only be replaced by another defender who played

(P.S: Without knowing what the wildcard is, I used it up last week. What is that?!)

You play a wildcard when you want to make multiple changes to your team, for example Gameweeks when teams are playing more than once, or when your team is underperforming or has a lot of injuries.

A wildcard allows you to make unlimited free transfers throughout a Gameweek. Playing a wildcard will remove any points deductions from transfers already made in the same Gameweek.

You can play 2 wildcards a season. One wildcard can be played at any time. The January Wildcard can only be used after Gameweek 21 starts (1 Jan 11:30) until Gameweek 24 ends (2 Feb 11:30)

Hope that helps :)

But say, in case all three forwards played this week and one forward in the bench scored more points than everybody else, will his points be included? Or, only those inside the XI?

Depends on the formation you setup initially, lets say you have a 4-4-2 formation, if 3 defenders, 1 goal keeper have played and your 4th defender or one of the midfielder hasn't played then the forward in your bench gets substituted automatically.

If everyone in your starting XI have played at least a minute then no automatic substitutions will happen, regardless of the points they score..

Szczesny was horrible yesterday. All bad clearances. Very bad effort in initiating that Soton goal.
Defence was .75x solid as in the earlier matches. Cazorla is a treat to watch. Poldi was excellent. Cazorla-Poldi have developed some brilliant brilliant chemistry within 5 games and I'm looking forward to something extraordinary as the season progresses. Attack after attack and they were simply bossing around. Treat to watch really! *THE* beautiful game which I've always loved.
And, today marks the 16th year in Wenger's tenure as manager. Long live!

kid-glove
24th September 2012, 02:46 AM
Because if we won it, we wouldn't be Arsenal. Dominated possession, created more chances, but botched it up in final third on occasions with Gervinho (but who apart from the Ivory Coast gazelle could get in to those positions regularly. No, not Theo. Better finisher, but pacy in obvious manner, Gervinho is a different kind. If he could finish, he would be right footed Messi). Overall, loving this new Arsenal. But it's the Old Arsenal really. Eff New or Old.

Jenkinson playing it out from the back, what a progress he has made. Rest all in alignment.

Arteta's passing was unbelievable! Cazorla had a good game, but looked fatigued. Same with Poldi (Must be the reason for substitution, I guess).. could have swapped Ox for Gervinho. Giroud was impressive for the short duration he stayed. He was lucky so far, with 2 goals. 3 good CBs in the squad after a long time with the tall German shaping up nicely. Very promising line-up with Wilshere's comeback set to happen next month. Gotta challenge Chelsea's bus and pick up 3 points at home. BTW, Is this goodbye for Walcott?

Hasn't that ship sailed yet :? Don't think they've got the personnel anymore.
Of course ill be very surprised if the 'trio' start behind Torres. But two of them, most likely Hazard and Mata should start with Ramires playing right half back cutting in to nullify our left.

Ivanovic is still strong and Cashley is doing good this season. Unless Giroud sets his temperament at the right time or if Cazorla creates chances/ setpieces for Podolski to fire, I think it is a very tough fixture. I believe our style of play is already too vulnerable for counter-attacks and we shouldn't especially underestimate FT9 there.

Is it true that they target Ben Arfa to replace Lampard (Strange!)
If that happens, their midfield is the best in PL.

Ben Arfa? nah.. hes better of as a wide player cutting in a la Bobby Pires. Cabaye much more suited to Lamps role

Mourinho, he obviously needs someone to fight with wherever he goes so he picked the team's best player. even the most ardent plastics fans will have hard time justifying Oscar over Mata. Oscar *probably will have a better career in playmaking role but he's nowhere near Mata in terms of goals - assists. Maybe it's true Jose truly dislikes Spanish players considering he's also not fond of one of best RBs last season. It's make us realise what a good job Benitez did when he was there last season (and Napoli this season) playing Oscar-Mata-Hazard-Moses regularly and also playing good football which is never Jose's forte.

he's a great signing, but can someone so inept like moyes work magic with him? rdm & rafa tweaked their sides a lot to give mata the freedom to succeed.

4-2 for city. and that's 110 goals for the season already!

satissh_r
25th January 2014, 11:29 PM
Take away 3 of your best players and any team would struggle, Moyes hasn't settled in yet, we can judge him once he gets to build a team of his own. This is SAFs side and lacks quality in few areas, the great man pulled it off last season with his experience, something Moyes will hopefully develop soon. As for Mata, I'm sure he would be able to bring in a system to accommodate him. Lack of quality in the final third has hurt us most this season and who better to fix it than Mata

ecureuhapis
26th January 2014, 12:01 AM
he's already had more than 6 months. martinez has been in everton's job for same period, he's not doing too bad.

liverpool had suarez suspended for first 6 matches, missed coutinho, sturridge, agger, lucas for long periods at various times and they're going ok.

Mata is a terrific signing, mainly because Jose is cunning and will probably never die without getting his hands on OT hot-seat. You'll probably get Luke Shaw & Vidal (best box to box in the world). Moyes can't have any excuse if he fails after this (providing the likes of carrick, rvp & rooney are fit)

satissh_r
26th January 2014, 12:19 AM
Martinez has done well, agreed, but did Moyes ever have a player like Lukaku while he was at Everton? Luis Saha is the closest I can remember and we know his injury record right?

Liverpool have played the same system since last year and they have benefitted because of that. Moyes hasn't established a system yet and that's why he needs time. As for Jose, I've never been a big fan but for some of his sarcasm. Don't want him at OT, if Moyes doesn't succeed I'll prefer someone like Ole Gunnar Solskaer getting a chance rather than Jose. As far as targets go, Vidal or Gundoggan is what everyone seems to want, I have limited knowledge on both of them so wouldn't mind either, LB I still want to try Fabio for a few games and see. Coentrao on loan would also be good, Shaw might go to Chelsea by the looks of it. BTW which is your club? :)

ecureuhapis
26th January 2014, 01:20 PM
Fergie knocked us off from our perch ;)

Rodgers has done well this season. but he's tactically very naive. he can't close the games down when we're in winning situations (City & Chelsea) and still very much dependent on in-form players. i don't think he knows what his best formation. now with Lucas out, it's going to be a big fight for 4th and decent run in FA Cup.

satissh_r
26th January 2014, 02:04 PM
Ha ha ha, ok so we're at opposite ends. I thought he's got your team to play good attacking football, much better than how it was last season. 4th place is going to be really tough, we'll be up there with Everton and you'll. Spurs would be the one missing out I think

Manchester United has announced that David Moyes has left the Club.

The Club would like to place on record its thanks for the hard work, honesty and integrity he brought to the role.

Not happy with the way United handled this tbh, why leak it to the press the day before, they might as well have announced it y'day.

Congratulations to Chelsea for having beaten Liverpool 2-0 at their home! No mean feat.

Two more games to go.

Chelsea is breathing down Liverpool's neck, but Liverpool has to just win the two games and they will be ahead of Chelsea.

Man City is a different game altogether. If they win all their last 4 games, they will become champions on goal difference.

that was depressing and it's inevitable we'd let it slip at one stage.

nothing wrong in chelsea's tactics. everyone knew how they'd play and it's BR's mistake not to come up with a plan to go around their tactics (like how Pellegrini beat them at FA Cup after going down at the league). they didn't have their best player, best defender, best goalkeeper, best striker and still beat us fair and square. defensively they were spot on. Right or left Azpilicueta has been the best fullback this season.

BR has done great job this season but as i pointed out previously, he's still tactically very naive, inexperienced. no plan B and doesn't know how to close out the games. it's not necessary to play attacking game all the time. 0-0 would have been sufficient.

This could be the beginning of new era for Barcelona. MSN trio will get more and more when they play together. Messi is outstanding as usual. I doubt we are gonna see any other player of his calibre in my lifetime. Forza Barca!.

3-0 win against Bayern is superb, that just made my day.

Real Madrid 1- 1 Juventus FC. A team that has 23 shots on goal and just score 1 on penalty, doesnt deserve to reach finale, as simple as that. I am glad Juventus got into the finale. Many ppl laughed and thought it would be a walkover for Real Madrid. This is what happens when they think games are decided on papers. Tonights it is forza Juve. The old lady kicks a**

God damn Messi. I need new eyeballs, I keep losing them watching Messi scoring fantastic goals. His first goal in Copa del rey which they won 3-1 against Atletic Bilbao is just pure world class.

breaking news: real madrid didnt turn up at bernabeu for the el classico. barcelona had to settle with some easy football practice. 4-0 enough said!
