TAMILS SHOULD LEARN TO RESPECT AND DO JUSTICE TO WOMEN BOTH YOUNG AND OLD - AT HOME AND IN PUBLIC PLACES

Brought forward in view of today being the 8th March 2018 the International Women's Day

Brought forward in view of today being the 8th March 2017 the International Women's Day

Women like Men are a wonderful creation of God. However the histories of all countries throughout the World have recorded, that many Men (not all) from time immemorial have dominated, enslaved, and tortured Women mentally, physically and sexually.

TamilNadu too from the earliest times, have not been an exception to this naked truth. Whatever happened in the past is past, and it is prudent that we consider what is best for the present and for the future of Women in Tamil Nadu in particular.

The woes and greivences of many silently suffering Women from injustices meted to them by the Men at home and in public places - in Tamil Nadu, in other States of India, and in many Asian Countries though well known to many, are still not being well addressed in public platforms and forums, and postive steps are not being taken to put an end to this situation even in this third millenium, whereas in many other countries especially the western countries the Women enjoy much social security and justice from the respective governments from the acts of the irresponsible Men.

There are many social injustices done in our Tamil society to Women both young and old, at homes and in public, which many of us are aware of but collectively have done nothing to remedy this situation - by educating the society in this direction and instituting social reforms to improve the prevailing conditions of our society.

This doesnot mean that all Men are cruel to Women. There are very many who realise and appreciate the rights of women, likings of women, the dignity of women, and respect their social freedom and freedom in voicing their opinions, very kind, polite and courtious to them, and also respect and value their modesty.

The Videos at the following URL sheds the present sad status of majority of women of Tamil Nadu.

NDTV NEWS - 22/12/2015/

The Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Amendment Bill 2015 has been passed by the Rajya Sabha today. It was introduced in Parliament last year after public outrage because one of the offenders in the 2012 gang rape case was a few months short of 18 years of age. The bill had already been passed by the Lok Sabha in May. It now needs the President's assent to become law.

The bill allows for juveniles 16 years or older to be tried as adults for heinous offences like rape and murder. Heinous offences are those which are punishable with imprisonment of seven years or more.

But fair majority of Men donot fall into this category, as a result of which the Women in TamilNadu class all Men as cruel. The reasons for this anti-social behaviour of many Men could be attributed to their "illiteracy", lack of "ethical studies" and "disciplined way of life" from their "childhood days", lack of knowlege of their "religious teachings", and their holding on to the traditional thinking that Women are weaker than Men, and that they should respect Men blindly even if the Men are wrongful in their acts and words or do grave injustice to the Women,. and presently also due to consumption of Liquor to great extent and Drugs to some extent by the Men in many Families.

It is hightime all Social Reformers with much influence in the society, and all Religious Leaders commanding the respect of the society, very seriously think in this direction and evolve a strategy to arrest this situation without allowing the Tamil Society from deteriorating any further especially in this third millenium.

It is also very essential that all Tamil Women who have come to higher social status by way of education as professionals in different walks of life, should band together and form a powerful "Tamil Nadu Ladies Association" to give a new lease of life to their under privileged fellow sisters from these injustices from their Men, and from the Men outside their homes. The educated Women naturally inherits the vim and vigour to question and fight back the social injustices meted to them by Men at home and at public places, unlike the less educated and underprivileged who become victims of the atrocities of the irresponsible Men.

The membership of this Association should be from every cities and villages of Tamil Nadu and should become a very powerfull organisation fighting against the social injustices of all sorts to Women by Men, be it to the village Women in "Kudisais" or city Women living in "Maligais".

This Association should have a membership of very great strength intellectually, by ensuring that there are many women - Professors, Lecturers, Doctors, Engineers, Lawyers Accountants, Managers, Directors of Companies, Jounalists, other Professionals and women in other commanding positions in TamilNadu Public and Private sector.

This Association should have branch offices in all cities and villages in TamilNadu and should be financially powerful by collection of Funds from various Foreign Social Development Organisations, and from funds from a large membership of Tamil Women from the length and breadth of TamilNadu, to educate the Tamil Society at large on the utmost necessity to Respect and do Justice to Women both Young and Old, at Home and in Public Places, and to fight all grave injustices meted to them by very irresponsible Men within and outside their homes involving restriction to their freedom of thoughts and acts, against - mental and physical torture, degrading of their modesty by rapeing, sexual harassment, eve-teasing and kidnapping - even if it is required to be fought at the Law Courts.

"The high social development of Tamil Nadu" - entirely depends on the upliftment of the "majority under privillaged Tamil Women" by way of higher education, environmental ethical and religious studies, infusing good - social etiquettes, habits and practices, with pleasent qualities, politeness, and courtesy towards others, refiness in their ways of home life, "and in dressing and grooming themselves very neatly in their traditional garbs more fitting for the third millenium".

It is this upliftment of the "majority underpriviledged Women population", "which will help them to groom and bring-up a "greater proportion" of, well disaplined, cultured, socially and ethically refined clear thinking Men population in Tamil Nadu - with pleasent qualities, having better norms of social etiquette, refiness in their ways and attitude towards their home and public life, "and smartness in their dressing and grooming practices also more fitting to the third millenium".

In this instance I wish to remind of the famous Palamoli, Noolaip pol Selai, Thaayaip pol Pillai.

***********************************************

The very "thought" - that the "Men of all Ages" should respect the "Girls and the Elderly" Women of any age not only among their own "Kith and Kin" but also "outside their Homefronts" among the "greater Society" whether they be "Already Known to them" or be "Strangers" - should be instilled in the minds of the Men "from their Childhood days" as early as "Five years" - "by their very own Mothers and Fathers", and in their "Primary Schools by theirs Teachers".

***********************************************

Further the "TASSMARK" Wine Shops throughout Tamil Nadu have made many "Tamilians" and others - especially from the economically middle and lower rungs of the society - to patronise same and becoming heavy drunkards, loosing their proper senses and reasoning power and also loosing their health - destroying their future and their family peace and well-being. Further they soon become addicted and slaves to Liquor (Wines), and commit grave crimes and be a potential threat and insecurity to the society in Tamil Nadu - especialy with the RAPE of Young Girls and Women, and their MOLESTATION at Homes and Public Places and the ruination of their Mental Peace, Financial Position, and the Educational Progress of the younger members of their households.

Hence it is very essential all "TASSMARK" Liquor Shops throughout Tamil Nadu be closed, "and a ban imposed on same" like in Kerala from the year 2015, for the benefit and better future of all Tamilians of Tamil Nadu - being elevated to high social and economic levels and better living, from what they are now in Tamil Nadu

The present day legitimate woes and grievences meted by Women of Tamil Nadu from irresponsible Men - are very clearly portrayed by a contributor to the former Forum Hub (the present Mayyam Hub) namely "Meenakshi" in the year 2003/4 - (if I am not mistaken). I am reproducing her postings from two different threads in the Forum Hub of that period (seen below), and my posting in the same Forum Hub during that period in reply to same (seen above). We must remember this is not only the voice of the “Meenakshi” of the Forum Hub, but it the voice of thousands and thousands of women like “Meenakshi” throughout Tamil Nadu and other part of the World where Tamils live.

Will the privileged Women and the clear thinking Men of Tamil Nadu jointly come forward, to do a strategic planning for course of actions, to put an end to the woes and grievances of these underprivileged Women, and also help them in their Social Upliftment & Freedom.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Meenakshi’s postings are reproduced below, which clearly shows the legitimate grievences of Women in Tamil Nadu which needs very urgent attention".

IT IS MENFOLK WHO HATE WOMEN SO MUCH. IT IS MEN WHO DO BRIDE BURNING, HARRASS THEIR WIFES FOR DOWRY, KILL THEIR WIFES ON SUSPECION, FORCE THEIR WIFES TO GIVE UP THEIR JOBS. MEN GET DRUNK LIKE HELL AND DESTROY ALL MONEY. MEN BEAT THEIR WIFES BLACK AND BLUE .MEN KILL GIRL CHILD AT EVERY POSSIBLE WAY AND TRY TO ABORT THE FOETUS IF IT HAPPENS TO BE A GIRL. MEN SUPPRESS ALL WOMEN IN THE NAME OF CULTURE AND PREVENT WOMEN FROM LEAVING THEIR HOMES. MEN DENY WOMEN EDUCATION AND CAREER AND MEN TREAT WOMEN AS SLAVES, MEN ABUSE WOMEN, INDULGE IN EVE TEASING, RAPE WOMEN AND SEXUALLY HARRAS THEM.

IT IS NOT WOMEN WHO HATE MEN. TELL ME HAVE ANY WOMEN DEMANDED DOWRY FROM THEIR HUSBAND? HAVE ANY WOMEN KILLED BOY CHILDS ? HAS THERE EVER BEEN A CASE OF BRIDEGROOM BURNING? HAS THERE EVER BEEN A CASE OF MALE INFANTICIDE? IS THERE ANYTHING LIKE ADAM TEASING? DO WOMEN EVER HARRAS THEIR MALE COLLLEAGUES SEXUALLY IN WORK PLACE? DO WOMEN IMPOSE PURDAH ON MEN? DO WOMEN PUT RESTRICTION ON WHAT CLOTHES MEN MUST WEAR? DO WOMEN DEMAND THAT THEIR HUSBAND MUST QUIT JOB AFTER MARRIAGE? DO WOMEN GET DRUNK AND NEGLECT THEIR FAMILIES? THINK OF ALL. THINK HOW WOMEN IS TREATED AS A SLAVE AND KEPT IN CHAINS BY MEN IN THIS WORLD.

SO WHEN EVER A WOMAN ACHEIVES SOMETHING IN SOCIETY, THE CHAUVINIST MEN WHO HAVE NO CULTURE IN ACCEPTING HER ACHEIVEMENT DESCEND TO VULGAR DEPTHS AND DESCRIBE HER AS HAVING SLEPT WITH SO AND SO, AND WHEN A WOMAN TRIES TO POINT OUT THIS YOU BRAND HER AS BITCH.

God could not be present everywhere so he created mothers (women)

Addenda - Latest addition:

The following write-up by V. Sundarrajan is added to my above Article as Addenda with much courtesy to the Writer, as that too throws much light on the life of women after marriage.

WOMAN.....

● changes her name

● changes her home

● leaves her family

● moves in with you

● builds a home with you

● gets pregnant for you

● pregnancy changes her body

● she gets fat

● almost gives up in the labor room due to the unbearable pain of child birth

● even the kids she delivers bear your name

Till the day she dies... everything she does... cooking, cleaning your house, taking care of your parents, bringing up your children, earning, advising you, ensuring you can be relaxed, maintaining all family relations, everything that benefit you..... sometimes at the cost of her own health, hobbies and beauty.

So who is really doing whom a favor?

Dear men, appreciate the women in your lives always, because it is not easy to be a woman.

*Being a woman is priceless*

Happy women's week!

Pass this to every woman in your contact to make her feel proud of herself.

Rock the world ladies!

A salute to ladies!

WOMAN MEANS :-

W ➖ WONDERFUL MOTHER
O ➖ OUTSTANDING FRIEND
M ➖ MARVELOUS DAUGHTER
A ➖ ADORABLE SISTER
N ➖ NICEST GIFT TO MEN FROM GOD

Pass to every man to know the value of women
&
Pass to every woman to feel proud!
Bless you!

It is a saddening truth that this odious 'bitch' calling habit of male chauvnistic pigs at the drop of a hat is omnipresent irrespetive of social status- educationally and financially. Rich or poor, educated or illiterate the male pshyche is the same in this matter- rotten. How long are they going to continue using this 'weapon' to cow down women? Are they aware of the revolution taking place around them? Today's enlightened, independent woman is dauntless and does not care a hoot for such abusive words hurled at her. It is high time such arrogant men wake up to reality and seek how to save their dignity and place in family and society! If they choose to turn wise they shall throw away this blunted sword- an 'attaikaththi'!!!

"FEMME FATAL - Is India a Country that doesnot respect it's women ?" - An Article by Manjul Misra, in "The New SUNDAY EXPRESS Magazine" (India) 8th April 2012

An 'enlightening article' with some statistics given which are food for thought.

2,13,585 was the number of crimes against women in India in 2010, as per National Crime Records Bureau

585 Crimes against women every day is what the NCRB figure translates into -----

-------- 45% of crimes against women are domestic violence cases,

-------- 28% is the conviction rate in rape cases,

-------- 33% is for dowry harassment cases, and

-------- 19% for domestic violence

-------- 2005 the year in which the government enacted a law to deal with domestic violence.

Again the Women's fundemental rights are denied even in this third Millenium - in India.

The following News Item in "Zee News" tells us the story.

true ! and the fact that a woman who dares to differ from the norm(according to them) is perceived as being loose-moralled. was watching neeya naana the other day and was unsurprised to see a guy boldly saying that he would only pass hurtful comments on a girl who's sense of style/behaviour is inappropriate. The good( decent i believe was the word used ) girls he said would be exempt from this. what is this yardstick they use to determine inappropriate vs decent ? Frightening stuff this ... until this collective psyche changes there would be very little progress!

Instead of teaching daughters to look downward & walk, parents should teach their sons to look at ladies with respect.
Teach daughters to fight their battles instead of cowering in fear.
Teach daughters AND set an example of being a good human being, rather than to train them to become good wife, DIL etc.
Having her own opinion, being assertive or bold does not equate to rudeness. Lastly, when a crime is commited against a woman, scope on the crime-not on her clothes, location, family background, relationships etc.

The only possible and hopeful remedy is in the hands of young parents- both the father and mother first shed off all inherited gender bias in their own psyche and then bring up their sons and daughters with proper values about 'man' and 'woman'. Man and woman vary in temperament, ability, natural skill- adapted so by nature, genetically, biologically and emotive potential but basically as human beings both are EQUAL in worth, dignity and respect. With such fundamental childhood training, education at home we can achieve a better, happier society(as one portrayed by Bharathiyar).

Inspite of many Organisations in Tamil Nadu trying to correct the situation, and the Government trying to impose penalties to the perpetrators, the crime against women in Tamil Nadu is still growing. This situation should be arrested from the grass-root level by way of "many" mass education programes through all Media - the New Papers, TV & Radio Channels, and by way of Public Meetings & Posters at every village throughout Tamil Nadu - "against all types of sex crimes and cruelty against women". The Goverment too should now enact very severe punishments to the perpetraters of such grave crimes.

The verdict of the Supreme Court in Delhi has set a very good example, and will open the eyes of the perpetrators of Sex Crimes all over India.

It isn't just parents who kill their daughters at birth that are responsible. Even parents who have raised daughters, educated them well, given them the very best they can still expect their daughters to be "tolerant" of injustice post marriage or from relatives.

At a recent wedding, the groom's mother's haughtily asked some young kids to move away from the dining room and when the kids argued back she said "she is the "grooms mother"" as if implying some kind of superiority. And the issue was hushed up with apologies from the kids parents. This is alien to me, and most of us, aren't we all the types that try to impress our partner's parents (immaterial of whether it is the girls parents or boys?, but finally when the occasion of marriage happens, why is there a superiority about the grooms side?

Without putting the marriage at stake, how does one point out and get the elders in our family to speak up against such mundane trivial things?
