The film is reportedly said to be a period fantasy entertainer and is tentatively titled as Maareesan. The film is set in 12th century BC where Dhanush will be seen in a all new look. Chimbudevan impressed Dhanush by bringing fantasy as the key point in the script. Not only Dhanush, UTV also liked the script and has immediately given their nod to produce this big budget film.

The budget of the film will be around Rs 30 Crore and sets a record of Dhanush’s high budget film so far in his career. Maareesan is the first fantasy period entertainer in Tamil and UTV is all thrilled about this venture.

Chimbudevan’s ace production designer Muthuraj will be erecting sets for the film. The heroine and the rest of the cast are yet to be finalized.
Maareesan in the hands of hit combo Chimbudevan- Dhanush-UTV is set to strike gold at the box office.

'Maareesan is a fantasy film, set in contemporary times and Dhanush will play an interesting character in it. The film is a two heroine subject, with both of them having equal weightage. Simbu has approached both Genelia and Hansika for the roles and is currently holding talks with them. It will be a while before any official confirmation can be made.'

Director Simbu Devan has denied reports appeared in a section of the media that Vadivelu, who is lying low from April last year thanks to reasons known to all, would make a re-entry with his forthcoming film 'Maareesan', which has Dhanush in the lead.

"It's a wrong information that Vadivelu is going to act in my movie. He is a great actor and how could I give a re-entry to him," asks Simbu Devan, who gave the mega hit 'Imsai Arasan 23am Pulikesi' in association with Vadivelu.

Stating that preliminary works related to 'Maareesan' are currently on, Simbu Devan adds: "A formal announcement related to the project, which will have all minute details about the cast and crew, will be made soon to clear the air."

Simbu Devan, who started his career as a cartoonist in a popular Tamil weekly, later joined director Shankar as his associate. After 'Imsai Arasan....', he made two films- 'Arai Enn 305il Kadavul' and 'Irumbu Kottai Murattu Singam'. All his three movies had social themes.
