Job portals - how useful are they?

How useful are the job portals like Monster, Naukri etc?

Is it good if one wants to find a job in strt-up companies?

They're awesome !! I was having a hard time this summer with my Consulting company ... So I just uploaded my resume to hotjobs, monster, careerbuilder, and dice !!! I never believed these websites could be helpful at all .. To my pleasant surprise, I got soooooo many calls right from the next day !!! And some of the requirements were much better than what my Marketing Manager gave me at the Consulting firm !!

I would advise these 4 pages atleast to any budding job-seeker or graduating student !!
