In addition to some best transformation scenes that Mappi shared in the recently watched film thread, here is my favourite scene that has not been discussed much.

That's one of my favourite scenes too, just like most of the Annan Ajith scenes. Before going into the transformation part, Ajith's performence should be highlighted here. Usually in dual roles make-up/age/altered manerisms play a big part in differentiating the characters. In Valli, Ajith does that just with his attitude. There is no much difference between Nerdy Ajith and his smart brother, but when you watch it, you know who his who. When the movie advances, atleast for once you get confused who is who. Its not keeping a mostache and taking it off act, just the duality in the attitude was well enacted by Ajith. He certainly merits the accolodes he received for this film. Ofcoarse, should be shared with SJ Surya for getting it out rightly.

Actually there is no transformation happening here, even though you capt a change. Brother Ajith is a self-made and self-kept character. His admirations has deep roots which are cling to various emotional levels (again beautifully potrayed by Ajith). Here he unearths his Lust part, which was perviously a scared love. He is driven by guilt, he weeps. But his Lust is more stronger than the blood bond, and he deceides to do the ultimate. He actually does not transform as he is not an ugly guy to fall for his brother's wife. Just that fate was not by his side, that the girl whom he loves the most chooses his brother over him. We could say it as a turning point of the movie, until then we had no clue where the story was heading.

Other transformation scenes includes : identity blown out(Basha, Viswaroopam), cunningness (Villan), use the waves of time to their benefit (amaidhi padai), Breaking bonds (Annamalai). In all these scenarios, the principle character is not the same anymore. Whereas in Valli, Brother Ajith stays the same, just that he pushes himself more towards his necessities than needs.
