Asin in Namibia!
By Moviebuzz | Tuesday, 07 August , 2007, 17:58
Last week our Asin and Aamir Khan along with the rest of the Ghajani unit flew from Mumbai to Johannesburg in South Africa, enroute to Namibia for song picturisation.
This the first unit from Bollywood to shoot in Namibia, in southern Africa on the Atlantic coast. South African locations have become stale in Bollywood, and last weeks Cash was shot in Cape Town. So Aamir and the producers were looking for a new locale that has not been seen before and chose Namibia
A year back Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt holidayed in Namibia for a month putting it in the global tourism map. Namibia is as large as Germany and France put together and is prime game area and boasts of Etosha National Park which has the largest Cheetah population in the world. Namibia has also beautiful beaches and wild deserts.
Ravi.K.Chandran, the noted cameraman of Ghajani, was also thrilled to shoot in the virgin locales of Namibia, which he feels is ideal for Bollywood type song and dance. Two songs tuned by A.R Rahman, are going to be shot in Namibia on Aamir and Asin.
Remember that Asin had shot the Tamil Ghajani hit number Sutrum Vizhi Sudale…., with Surya tuned by Harris Jayaraj in Switzerland? Now for the Hindi version she is shooting with Aamir in Namibia, to a different tune by Rahman!
It may be sheer coincidence that Asin should be back in Chennai by August 14, to start her first schedule of Vel with her Tamil Ghajani hero Surya with whom she is reuniting after two years!

Ghajini remake leaps ahead of OSO!
IndiaGlitz [Saturday, February 16, 2008]
Every time a ¡®big-budget¡¯ film is about to be released, it passes through a stage where it is compared with its predecessors. The film that is under the limelight today is Aamir Khan¡¯s next movie under production, ¡®Ghajini Remake¡¯.
Towards the end of last year Shah Rukh Khan starrer ¡®Om Shanthi Om¡¯ broke many records and fetched a record breaking Rs. 73 Crores for its rights. Now Aamir¡¯s ¡®Ghajini¡¯ has broken this record of OSO and set a new record of fetching a whooping Rs. 90 crores.
Indian Film Company has sold the domestic theatre rights of ¡®Ghajini¡¯ for a ¡®huge¡¯ 53 Crores. We have reports suggesting that no other Hindi film has been sold for this mammoth sum. Not only this but the satellite, overseas and the home video rights have fetched another 40 Crores, which makes an over all mammoth 93 Crore!
This massive investment flick, which is not yet titled, is a Hindi remake of the Tamil director A.R. Murugadoss Tamil flick ¡®Ghajini¡¯. This is the biggest movie for Aamir Khan this year where he is pairing with Asin, a South Indian beauty, who also was the heroine in the original Tamil version.
Reports close to the producer suggest that they are receiving good offers from various distribution houses. They say that they have surpassed any Indian film's record in terms of pre-release sales.
We wish this team all success!

The Hindi remake of the Tamil Ghajini starring Aamir Khan and Asin, directed by A.R Murgadoss has created history before release. The films various rights- Indian theatrical, overseas, television, etc is said to have an earned an estimated Rs 93 crores, according to the leading business newspaper “The Economic Times”.
According to a report in ET, the producers of Hindi Ghajini, leading Telugu producer Allu Aravind,( Telugu superstar Chiranjeevi’s brother- in-law) and Madhu Varma has sold domestic theatrical rights to the Mumbai based Indian Film Company (IFC) for Rs 53 crores. The producers have sold Overseas, domestic Video, and satellite rights for another Rs 40 crores.
It clearly means that Aamir Khan’s Ghajini remake in Hindi has fetched a higher price than SRK’s Om Shanti Om which was snapped up by Eros Entertainment last October for Rs 73 crore. Aamir Khan after the stupendous success of Taare Zameen Par is the biggest brand in Indian cinema.
Now Aamir’s next big release is the Hindi version of Ghajini. IFC has snapped it at such a high price because after a long time Aamir is coming out with a mass commercial action movie and the music is by A.R Rahman. For IFC, last year was very good as they distributed super hits like Jab We Met and Welcome.

A.R.Murugadoss & Aamir Khan break Indian record
By Behindwoods News Bureau.

A.R.Murugadoss and Aamir Khan have managed to pull off a national level record for the highest distribution rights paid for a single movie yet! Yes, you heard it right: their Hindi Ghajini has garnered a whooping 90 crores in distribution price for its producers Madhu Verma and Allu Arivind.
The Indian Film Company (IFC) has paid 53 crores to the producers of the movie for the domestic distribution rights. IFC had earlier distributed Jab We Met and Welcome, both of which have been profitable ventures. Overseas, satellite, online and home video rights collected another 40 crores.
This is quite a remarkable achievement considering the fact that not a single official still has been released about the movie yet.
The movie is obviously heavy weight with Aamir fresh off his Taare Zameen Par success, A.R.Rahman as the music director (the inside story is that the director has composed some mind blowing music for the movie), Ravi K Chandran in charge of camera, and Murugadoss, one of the most commercially successful directors of the south at the helm. Asin plays the lead lady of Aamir, supported by Jiah Khan
Ghajini has managed to break the record set by Om Shanthi Om, which had collected 73 crores for its distribution rights.
Now for the really interesting side of all this: Aamir is not just looking to take away Shahrukh's record on the finance-side, but also on the physical side. He is gearing up to flaunt a six pack ala Shahrukh Khan. The actor is on a strict exercise regimen, building up muscles and pumping some iron.
Call it professional rivalry at its peak!

Murugadoss upbeat over Bollywood entry

Chennai: Director A.R. Murugadoss of ‘Ramana’ fame is now busy in Bollywood, shooting the remake of ‘Gajini’ in Hindi with actor Aamir Khan.
With over 50 per cent of the film having been completed and three songs shot, the director can’t seem to hide his excitement about the manner in which the film is taking shape.
The director has, in a fairly short span, worked with top heroes in Tamil and Telugu such as Vijayakanth, Suriya, Chiranjeevi and now in Hindi with Aamir Khan. He is easily among the more accessible directors in the industry.
Music director A. R. Rahman’s music for the Hindi version of ‘Gajini’ has come out really well, he says.
“I am truly amazed at Aamir Khan’s dedication. His passion comes across evidently. You know he’s thoroughly enjoying himself while at work,” the director says.
Some scenes are said to have been modified and visually enhanced in the remake, which is expected to hit the cinemas in October.
Aamir will shave his head next month to play the role that won Suriya accolades. “He said he hasn’t shaved his head even as a kid…,” the director laughs.
The film has already raised expectations of movie buffs due to several reasons. For Aamir Khan, this film follows his mega hit — the critically-acclaimed ‘Taare Zameen Par.’ Fans would also be more than eager to listen to Rahman’s music after listening to his compositions for ‘Jodhaa Akbar.’ For Murugadoss, too, this project follows Telugu film ‘Stalin’ starring Chiranjeevi.

A.R. Murgadoss, the super-hit director of Tamil Ghajini was “arrested?today while coming out of the house of Sujatha in Mylapore, where he had gone to pay his last respect to the late writer!
The ace director who is now doing the Hindi version of Ghajini with Aamir Khan was arrested by the Salem Police on a complaint filed by Salem Chandrasekhar, the Tamil Ghajini producer. Chandrasekhar had filed a police complaint with the Salem Police saying that Murugadoss had kept him in the dark regarding the making of a Hindi version of Ghajini and he has not been paid his due share of the remake rights.
But the manner in which Murgadoss was surreptitiously bundled into a car by police in mufti, in full glare of heavy traffic, made it look like a “Kollywood film style kidnapping? according to onlookers.
The Chennai police have confirmed that Murgadoss was “arrested by Salem Police? and he will be produced in a Magistrate court in Salem later in the day.
