Venu got state award for this song. However Ilayaraja gave him a hard time during the the time of composition,as raja was too adamant that KJY should sing this and not Venugopal. The director of Movie took a while to convince raja, as raja was not particularly happy with the singer.Quote:

IMO that's a Raaja signature, the melancholy/deep element even in supposedly 'happy' love songs (not to be confused that its a sad song for a happy situation). whether intrinsic or by design that's a big factor of the timelessness of his musicQuote:
