I was thinking exactly the same when listening to 'kAlaththai vendRa' from UO during this morning commute :-)

The shenoy piece that he throws in during the 2nd stanza (befitting to the line that says "thirumaNa oli") is a sweet add-on, typical of IR's sensitivity to situations.

No wonder he is the king of BGM!

And he completes the Shenoy Bit just before the line begins 'Thirumana isai olithaan thinam thinam olikirathey' emphasising that the male is recalling the sound in his mind while having a dialogue with his lady love. why not along the line instead of before the line? It only shows that 'Raaja' is very scientific in understanding that the mind thinks before speaking.
Had he made the shenoy play along the line the whole meaning would've been lost. Any other composer would've done that only(Forget that they would've even thought about introducing such a small bit to enhance the lyrics). Only Such small things keeps us in eternal awe towards the genius Raaja. :notworthy:

An excellent song. It is indeed by IR. 'Oru Yathra Mozhi' is an outstanding soundtrack. One whose 'suvai' goes up every time you hear it.
