A significant skill, ofcourse but not worthy of being in the company of sachin, lara et al in the same team. Do you need Bevan to salvage this team?
The Strike rate 69 is the clearest indicator of this.

1) The team he played for (I mean Slater and Taylor opening :banghead:). He was left to salvage bad starts most of the times.
2) The quality of the opposition.
3) Quality of pitches he played most. Aussie pitches of those days aren't really 300+ pitches.
4) 230-240 was considered a match-winning total those days. So strike rates-la konjam leeway kodukkalaam.
Also, look at his performance in tough pitches. The match against England in 2003 world cup was a classic example. He looked totally unperturbed when all the other batsmen were struggling (except Bichel who was living the day of his life :D).
Plum, you never know. A line up consisting of Sehwag, Gambhir, Dravid, Sachin was blown up by a not so great bowler just recently :P Bevan was never known as a hitter/slogger, but he gets the job done. I can't even think of anyone else in the place of Bevan at 6.Quote:
