Saw the origin of this joke yesterday in Manal Kayiru, involving SVS and Poobathi, his friend (Manorama's son).

SVS: Naan eppothume tani type.
Pb: Saapaadu eppadi (gestures eating) vaayilathaaney?

Comedy is the most vulnerable to be used again. Just like how we used to imitate EKSI from Chandramukhi before other comedians started to do that.

In Vivek's case, this comedy can be enjoyed unless he has outrightly copied the whole comedy scene or if it is not in good taste.

You got the lines right, except I think before "sapaadu" line he does say, "tani type" or "vera type", which becomes his catchphrase entire movie (tells off a potential in-law, who later uses it back to him)

It's something like "Unakku theriyaadha, naan edhaiyume vidhyaasama-dhan pannuven".

Hmmm....I am sure I heard "type" somewhere. Either that, or last night's Chinese dinner did things to my imagination :D


But the humour in the movie didn't work for me this time. I remember it was pretty funny those days. But the film overall is still watchable, Visu did not come as annoying as he did in latter films. And it introduced Kishmu, playing SVS' dim-witted brother in law. Pretty lame performance, athula VAM-a pootirukkalaam.

if ur talking abt the scene where he buys toys to that girl. Then i agree it was in poor taste.
1. The girl was portrayed as a cheat
2. The girl had a loud mouth.

PR, not veera comedy. I guess the movie belongs to late 80s. Definitely not Veera :)

And, yes, vadivel's comedy is n times better than Senthil's.

Karuppusamy had one of the funniest comedies of recent times. :thumbsup: In par with "naai sekhar" of course, nai sekhar was soooooo good :rotfl:

Yeah I also hated that ridiculous portrayal of children to be cheats. Also one comedy in Thimiru where Vadivelu is repeatedly hit on his head. We are not saddists here to laugh at people getting hit repeatedly on the head (atleast for me :roll: ) and found it in poor taste.
