Just the story NOV, it can work. It's not like VPK or Deiva Magan or Gauvaram where onscreen performance is vital.
It has a decent thriller plot, undercover cop, and a lead character who seemed to be not who he is. Can definitely be updated. Yen, Sigappu Rojakkal is a kinda updated Puthiya Paravai with additional horror elements and the character is made more psychotic.

Today, nobody gains by degrading Sivaji or his hits . He was never a political force to reckon with . By covering up his cinema achievements what does one gain now ? Nothing. Sorry to say this but a fact. Sivaji's old movies are benchmark for world cinema . A learning experience for future generation. Legend

I have heard of producers going bankrupt and committing suicide dying because of certain movies - none of which happens to be NT's. Though I dont care too much for the box office status of NT's movies(it doesnt matter either way to me) - Kappalottiya Thamizhan was a BO failure for God's sake; so, I dont want approval from people who made KT a failure; I mean these are the same guys who made other lesser movies a success so BO success means approval of such people, and it matters least to me - this is something I wanted to note that no producer of NT's movies apparently had to go to the extreme whereas....I am not going to complete this sentence ;-)

I must clarify you on what I intended.
See, today by defaming Sivaji's acting or his records / achievements , what does one gain ? I mean his so called arch rivals .
In cinema , none of his peers exist now
In politics, he was not a force , noone puts his image on posters / banners like MGR's to gain political mileage. So, what is the need for down grading his achivements ? this is my point.
Sivaji's greatest contribution to India have been the roles of freedom fighters VOC, Kattabomman .
Yes, he also spread bakthi cult ( or atleast minimised the so called aethist campaign of DK/ DMK group ) through Thiruvilayadal, etc .
Coming to Sivaji's stats. I would blame his own fans for letting him down on Kappalotiya thamizan and other nice movies which miserable failed at BO. Who is to be blamed for this mess ? fans like you all who couldnt distinguish between a valuable movie and ordinary movie.
For heaven's sake dont use TAMILIAN etc and regionalise Sivaji. I heard that he always used to end his public speech as JAIHIND indicating that he was always a nationalist. Dont corner him by earmarking as a tamilian. He was true Indian and a great patriot.

I don't treat this forum as a waterloo for MGR vs Sivaji. But I dont think I committed a mistake by mentioning NT as Tamilian. This is a fact. When a man gets award for Nobel prize, we people celebrate it as a Tamilian. NT leaved until his last breath for Tamil. He was so proud to be Tamilian, which fact he was mentioning on every occasion. In almost all the other States, much less acclaimed artists are glorified to the highest owing to their nativity. No one in India equals NT. Raj Kumar has umpteen times been mentioning NT as his mentor and he is almost worshipped as God in Karnataka. The same applies to all the other States of India or any part of the world. What is wrong in saying NT as Tamilian. That is not regionalisation. In the guise of regionalisation does it mean that he should not be greeted in his own soil? He was the one who preached patriotism, he was the one who preached divinity in soul through his characters. And he followed it until his last. He was Tamilian as well as Indian. Then why should not Tamil Nadu glorify him? Had he been borne out side the State, all the awards would have been given to him first time itself. It is a pity that he was born here. This is a fact and not exaggeration or regionalisation. Just mentioning him as good actor and humiliating him on the other side .... is this what Tamil culture upto?
This is what runs in my mind. I hope any body would approve of it.
