Superstar Rajinikanth starrer Kochadaiiyaan got released today across the globe. Initial reports from Tamil Nadu were positive but the film is getting negative talk in Andhra Pradesh and other states. Surprisingly, shows were cancelled in Mumbai due to the lack of minimum audience. Mumbai has got lot of Tamil population and their films are well received in the city. In Andhra Pradesh, morning shows occupancy was reported as less than 40 percent. This is the first time that Rajinikanth's movie got such a poor response in almost 2 decades. Trade analysts are predicting that Vikrama Simha might end up as a flop at the Tollywood box-office. Rajinikanth is a brand in India and his poster itself is enough to buy the ticket. But, the experimental movie made by his daughter Soundarya has not only got poor response but also the financiers and distributors are worried as they understood that their money is lost. KS Ravi Kumar has provided the story and AR Rahman is the music director for the film. Soundarya Rajinikanth has directed the film and Eros International has produced Kochadaiiyaan (Vikrama Simha)

Tamil : FLOP
Other Language: washout.
ஷங்கர் தான் வந்து காப்பாத்தணும்.

Anyway watched the movie yesterday.....Movie could have worked, had it been a regular movie....Animation, color tone & all details lacked big time.
Way too many songs for an animation movie. Next few weeks are going to be very bitter for Rajini to swallow....Hope he has the strength to come out strong!!
Start music:pink:
Being an animation junkie, I hope to check out Koch when the ticket prices drastically reduce (I refuse to pay 20 USD+ for a poorly received 3D version.)
Anyways, had a friend (diehard Rajini fan), who went with his family for the 3D show. Occupancy was very low(80 ppl/300-400 seater) and most people dozed off either in the middle or last fight sequences. Like most people, he was severely disappointed with the outcome and people were mocking at the way it was presented. Too cartoonish and felt too doll-like. This was the public talk here (and the collections show it's way behind the Akkineni family saga, "Manam." Yes, Andhra movies make more money than Tamil, but the rave reviews this one got over Koch showed in occupancy.)
I think instead of doing a poor man's "Tintin", Soundarya could've have attempted "Kochadaiyaan" in the same manner Rajamouli did "Magadheera's" flashback sequence. You have the biggest financier from Hindi putting 125C down for a Rajinikanth starrer and you have KSR penning the story and dialogues. If Rajini himself was fit and rearing to go for Rana, then shoot it live like you've planned.
