NSM is one of my favorite movies. Very intense and action packed! Rajini rocked to the core... And yeah, Bagyaraj had some great moments too! 8-)Quote:

Watching the mega-blockbuster and AVM's come back movie MURATTU KAALAI (1980)... :smokesmirk:
1980 was such a great year for Thalaivar - a number of blockbusters and superhits. To highlight a few:
54. Billa
56. Anbukku Naan Adimai
57. Kali
60. Jhonny
63. Pollathavan
64. Murattu Kalai
:notworthy:
Endhiran should be added to the poll

I have always liked the film Velaikaaran very much. Rajni totally matches the pattikaatan(No pun intended) coming into the city. It's the Rajni element which makes many things funny in the process. You've got everything in this film. With VKR (Aaa ) as his thaatha the second half is pure fun. "Moodhevi, nalla padiya than vaazthi tholayen". after the birthday song is :rotfl:. Plum's fav KR Vijaya is passable. Sarath babu is good too. Nasser is okay in his early sterotypical roles. And I happen to notice that Rajni films have pretty absurd but very funny nick names (Alberto dicasto roterix, Yemandis to name a few.
And btw, Beatty quween amala :slurp:.
Songs ellam attagasam. IR . I've to borrow a phrase somebody used in hub here. "Oru padathula ellarum evvalavu effort pottu nadichirundhaalum IR adhai ellam thooki saapidura madhiri music poduvaar"nnu yaaro inge sonnanga. That's completely true.
This film takes a special place in 80's Comedies. Certainly not in the fun league of Thillu Mullu or Guru sishyan but this has a special place in Rajni's filmography.
Disagree with just this point. One of IR's weak efforts. The benchmark being IR's other late 80s stuff. Except thOttathula paaththi katti I don't listen to other songs. And the next favorite song in this album is Pallavi's enakku thaa. Mano spoils the album, IMO and MV was given a couple of unimaginative (again the benchmark is IR himself) numbers.Quote:

Velai illathavan than song singlehandedly establishes rajni's character in the film. Idhu pudikaliya?.
Thotathula paathikatti is a gem. Adhai ningale solliteenga
Pethu eduthava than is a good pathos song. Very good to watch. Rajni is good with emotions.
Vaa vaa kanna va is a good romance song nga. One of my fav's.
