Quite a decent number of screens actually. Sathyam, Escape, PVR, Inox, AGS, Udhayam, Kamala, Abhirami, Mayajal and few small screens. No of shows would be clear only by Thursday.
When they said minimal release I thought something like a weekend morning show in Sathyam. :P
From what i see in the newspaper ads, Nandhalala has more screens In Chennai than any other movie releasing this Friday and definitely more than Uttamaputhran, that release for Diwali :)

Long time ago Hindi cinema gave AAKHRI KHAT...khayyam , Rafi & Lata....serene baharon mera jeevan...pahadi rag, soulful mere chanda mere nanhe....Lata's lori and a jazz track too. :musicsmile:
sometime during 90s, I watched the movie.
radiant black & white camera, heart touching toddler, wonderful compositions of Khayyam saab....still remember the opening scene...a woman carrying a chubby toddler in the hustle & bustle of the city sounds, train crossing, city crowd, church chorus singing, bells and Khayyam's Jazz bgm track....chubby kutti's 'mammaa' calls.

let us see what Myskin has done with the heart touching theme...
it sounds deep with couple of more characters.

Director Mysskin’s long awaited film ‘Nandhalala’ is releasing on this Friday and it is a much talked about film already. One of the big reasons for that hype is the music of Illayaraja.
This is a Maestro Illayaraja scored film hitting the theatres after a long time and the online Illayaraja Fans Community is celebrating it in style.
According to information reaching us, Online Fans Community of Illayaraja will have a special show on Sunday at Sathyam Cinemas and a 100 of them will watch ‘Nandhalala’ along with members of Illayaraja’s family. This must be a real treat for Raja fans.
‘Nandhalala’ is an emotional tale of a mentally retarded man and a small boy who is his only friend. Mysskin himself plays the lead role with Snightha and Ashwath Ram playing the other pivotal. The film which was launched in mid-2008 is releasing on November 26.
